As it seems to be the "in" thing these days, I am also posting a declaration of intent to run for the Council of Stellar Management in the Wormholes forum. But no need to post your likes/dislikes/death threats here! Post them instead in my handy
Official CSM 8 Thread on the Jita Park Speakers Corner Forum!!!
For convenience, I'll repost my OP below.
Nathan Jameson wrote:My Fellow Capsuleers, I am hereby announcing my intention to run for CSM8. I am the founder and executor of Talocan United, a pure wormhole-based alliance that operates in a wide range of activities (though pew is always our favorite). I personally began playing EVE during the Apocrypha expansion (2009), and I have lived in or operated in wormholes since the second month of my EVE career. I would like to make use of my specific experience and viewpoint in representing both the members of wormhole space and the greater New Eden. Wormhole space, although at times brutal, is an excellent proving grounds for a progressing player. To be successful, a pilot must be able to use a wide range of in-game skills; and in my development I've learned of PVE, exploration and scouting, mining and harvesting, research, production, leadership, PVP, transportation, marketeering, and planetary interaction. But there's plenty I've learned that isn't reflected in skillpoints. I've also had the unique experience of growing an entire alliance from a one-man corp in a C4 system into a well-known, well-established 650-man alliance. Over the course of the past two years, I've had to learn the balances between patience and action, diplomacy and aggression, leniency and standards, vision and practicality, and EVE and my personal life. I would like to think I've come out on the better end of it all. Although I think my time spent in wormholes has given me a strong foundation, I do not intend to advance only wormhole-related concerns to the CCP offices. And as the fundamental purpose of the Council of Stellar Management is communication between the player base and CCP, I will also not be running a platform based on broad, sweeping changes to any particular element of EVE. (Well, except maybe POS's, but this is nothing new to fellow wormholers.) I will instead be focusing on two elements that are important to me. First is communication, as it was the entire reason the CSM was formed. Communication of one kind or another has always been vital to me (and is, in fact, one of my IRL degrees). To give an example, our alliance's website conveys a large quantity of information that has helped many incoming pilots adjust to wormhole space. No candidate can be a strong candidate if he forgets his ultimate priority. Second is a respect for diversity, something I've made sure my alliance has held from the very start. We do not all roll in large deadspace-fit T3 gangs (although some do). Some of us like to camp systems in stealth bombers; some like to farm Sleeper NPCs; some like to manufacture and research; some of us even like to mine ABC ore while we talk with friends over TeamSpeak. Sometimes we blob, when we feel the situation warrants it. In most cases, however, our fleets are perhaps a dozen, if not far fewer. We hunt wormhole space, low-sec, and null. We live in systems ranging from C1's and C2's to higher C5's. We are an alliance founded on diversity and mutual respect for the playstyles of others, and we have shown more than one corp the door that has breached this sacred trust. While any specific change to EVE's mechanics will always advantage one group over another, I believe it is my job to represent this aforementioned mindset...to promote a wide variety of improvements that ultimately remembers everyone, from the richest, most devoted pilots to those who can only sign in on weekends to run their PI. Because in the end, we all pay for our subscription. I appreciate your consideration for me as your candidate for CSM8. Win or lose, I firmly believe it is important for me to run. If you have any questions at all, such as my thoughts on particular aspects of EVE, please feel free to leave them here or send them via Eve-mail. Also feel free to contact me in-game on either this character or my alt, Thomas Broker. I look forward to your feedback, well-wishers and trolls alike. Nathan Jameson for CSM 8! Honestly, this is all in preparation for the Wormhole Primaries we're expecting to be held. After that's over, we should have one choice that the entire wormhole community stands behind. Nathan Jameson for CSM 8! |

I too am a full time wormhole dweller. When I first made the plunge into wormhole life I scoured Google for all the information I could find on wormholes. Your website has been an extremely valuable tool that helped get me moving in the right direction. So for that alone I thank you for making that information readily available for all.I had even considered applying to be apart of your alliance but in the end decided to go at it solo with my corp.
Anyways, all this to say that I'm excited to see you running for CSM. I really believe wormhole life is where this game really shines, at least it has for me. I know you said in your OP that you were not just going to focus on wormhole-related concerns, which is great, but as a wormhole dweller I am curious as to what concerns you do have for wormhole space? Can you elaborate a bit on this? |

I believe you misread my sentence (or it was structured poorly). My thread in JPSC has been up since Jan. 28, making me the second to declare (after Cipreh and well before James Arget). The "in thing" nowadays I was referring to seems to be posting a thread in the Wormhole Forums as well (which isn't really the procedure). Still, getting the word out there all the same.
EDIT: @ Han Soleo. Although CSM is not game design, I do have things I'd like to see happen in wormhole space, apart from fixing POS's. I've written about them in the blog linked in my signature (or on the JPSC thread). Nathan Jameson for CSM 8! |

My question would be how do you have time to run a 623 man allience and also fulfill CSM duties? TwoStep was a grunt or maybe even an officer in k162 and didnt have time.
Right now personally im considering anyone outside of the c6 circle jerk a viable candidate so id love to hear more about you :) |

I've been slowly stepping back from my alliance duties for the past few months in preparation for being a viable candidate. I have two very good leaders, Chris Elliot and Bernie Nator, who have been doing very well in molding the alliance with their own initiatives. Nathan Jameson for CSM 8! |

1) I am, and will actually work to get such trips into my business contract here at work if I'm elected. 2) I'm currently working as a teacher in Taiwan, nearly on the exact opposite side of the earth from Iceland. Which explains why I haven't been able to afford getting to FanFest yet. :-[ 3) Uh, sure? Is that in my list of duties now? *checks contract* Nathan Jameson for CSM 8! |

I am (and have been during both CSM terms) a director in AHARM. I certainly don't have a ton of time to play the game, but can still surf forums at work and stuff. You can see from *my* kb link (http://dontshootx.com/killboard/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=10335) that I still manage to lose triage archons just fine during my term as a CSM. Not only that, but being in alliance leadership is hardly uncommon in the CSM. I would not consider that a reason to not vote for him.

Well 1st of all let me say how happy i am for you to apply to this position. I was in my second month of eve reading about wormholes and your website was my saving grace :D so much that if you remember i joined your corp!!
but serious stuff we played for a few months and in that time not only you were a teacher but also one of those rare really nice people you can meet in eve. Having returned only a few days ago to eve and notice that your are running for CSM i could not pass the chance to give you my support (even though im only gonna watch the podcasts and interviews now ^^)
you certainly have my +1 vote and i really hope you win!!
and ofc expect some messages in-game for stuffs you need to ask the devs!! |

Yes. POS's are perfectly fine. Leave them as is.
To be specific, wormholes as an environment are wonderful and still function more or less as intended. The tools we have to interact with them, however, are in desperate need of improvement.
I wouldn't mind seeing some new content added (new sites, etc.) but that's pretty far down the list after game issues that actually need fixing.
