wait - were you SHIELD tanking an apoc? did u have hardeners fitted? (to armor or shields)
i can't really believe some1 is complaining that shields without EM hardening are going down to 8 heavy drones doing EM dmg
get yourself a nice little maller with the money u got from the insurance (please say it was insured )
and then do NPCing for a bit while you learn to use and equip your ships 
maybe then u can buy a bigger ship, learn to use that as well on NPCs, then u might consider PvP again

Just fit smaller guns also, i reckon you dont have great drone skills, but med drones are pretty good, even if u only have 1 or 2. Fit a nossie, fit a smartbomb, the choices are multiple. Most importantly, fit a webber, imo they rock way too much. But this post is another example of the many noobs that want a bs asap, without having a clue about the mods or skills in the game, need i say raven? Hoora for the logical missile nerf(yes, i am a raven pilot). But here is a real advice. Start with being a good frig pilot, then cruiser, then elite of either one, then maybe a bs, if u can stand the slow speed, after having tried the others.

This is a joke. It takes atleast 2 weeks to be able to fly a BS. And hopefully more time to get the isk to buy one. And by then, anyone should be able to know how to use a webber/drones/armor reps or whatever. Atlest if your smart enough to select "aproach" on a stargate heading below 0.5 and then warp to a belt.

i still remember my CEO telli me what to do first before flyin a bs into 0.0/pvp ...
oh how i miss those days .
anywayz , i hope you learned that you shouldnt fly one unless for mining in safe space tbh .
if you want to pvp and its yer first bs try first in frigates and cruisers , that way you also learn what they can do against a bs and that knowledge comes in very handy when flying a bs :)

its called a blaster-rax, the ship is not overpowered u were just too stupid and rushed into ur BS before u could fly it expecting to pwn everything because u have a BS. ur setup must have realy sucked, i bet u had rcu's and cpu's on, dont embaras urself by posting it, save ur time training the skills.

A cruiser-weapon Thorax can break any non-officer and non-dedicated tanks in game, while a 1600mm plate Thorax will find general-purpose tanks that it cannot break. I've tested it with poor gunnery skills prior to T2 weapons on the CA russian miners, and I did not find a tank I was unable to break ('cept a Megathron which was smart and forced me into a flaming retreat using it's own drones)

For a blaster ship with the worst fitting of all the cruisers it's not as overpowered as it looks. IFF the Thorax fits it like a cruiser and not with 1600mm plates (which is ruining good cruiser balance everywhere). 1600mm plate setup boost survivability by about 100% while it nerfs gun damage by about 10% for a blaster Thorax (Heavy Electron I to Light Neutron II) and does not affect drone damage. Generally sad as I really love properly fitted ships, and I tell you those kinds of Thoraxes are nightmares. Fragile nightmares.

Ithildin why wud u fit heavy blasters anyway? the damage is only marginally better than lights and it gimps ur survivability so much that, even tho u might be able to break a NPCer tank faster, u will die FAST to drones or simply cruise/torps.
Tbh 8 drones + NOS can take down even a faction tank... as long as you use the right drones ofc...

Just because you where too stupid to pack some heavy drones isn't a good enough reason to nerf the thorax. If you had, the thorax would have blown up before he blew you up. Espically one tripped out for damage dealing.
PS He porably had a turret disrupter too.

ehrm...0.4 gates still have like 2-3 sentrys. unless that guy was blinking red those sentrys will help pwn you once you shoot him... :D

To the original poster, I must say that you probably died because of the sentries and not the Thorax. Also you had a poorly fitting because an apoc can hold the damage from the light neutron blasters and the drones. You are saying you attacked him? Why? Because he had cruiser you thought you can kill him? You cannot even kill an AF if you don't know how to do it. That guy stayed and fight with you. That means that 99% this happend on the gate with sentries hitting you. Or else he could warp out since he doesn't know if you are rat or not.
Regarding the Thorax, believe me that ship has quite a few problems. First of all capacitor. A nos can drain your cap dead fast and just become sitting duck.
Second, anything that launch missiles is deadly for any thorax pilot.
Tbh Mimnmatar and Amarr cruisers (Maller) are much more dangerous than Thorax if fitted properly. It only takes 2 salvo to kill 6 h-drones the thorax can pop. And you have insane resists (Maller).

But if it isn't:
Well if you just trained up your BS skills to fly the ship, I'm curious if you have your fitting, shiled, cap, drone and weapon skills ALL up to appropriate levels (4+) to fly a BS. It doesn't take long to train up to fly a BS . . . It, however, takes a while to train up to SURVIVE in a BS. Skill points for skill points, I'd bet the Rax pilot had more dedicated to his ship fittings, drones and other weapons than you did. Take it as a lesson learned . . . A BS is nothing but a glorified miner w/out decent skillz.

Thorax can pop 8 drones, not 6
Killing them takes time - in a 1v1 thats long enough to get u killed since either u have med guns and lame tank, or small guns and big tank, but then killing the drones will take ages.
I dont see why missiles shud be scarier than guns for a rax pilot.
No cruiser can beat a thorax unless they are specifically fitted with stuff to counter it, like smartbombs/drones.

I had thorax. I know that you have space for 8 heavy, but my example because for 6 since most of the BC and Cruisers have 5-6 guns. 1 gun per drones with good skills on 3rd salvo you drop them.
Come on. A good player can destroy thorax if he setup his ship for close combat. Most of the cruiser pilots fid med weapons which miss like no tomorrow at 1000m.

Thorax is overpowered yes
compared to MOA and RUPTURE its more like BS = Thorax > Cruiser
you can easily get HPs near to tier1 BS, and that with a similar Damage output

I've been playing since Oct '04 and I've only now just got into my Wolf. Next on the list is my Ishtar, which is patiently waiting in my hangar, then and only then will i enter a Megathron.
Unfortunately you fell into the noob trap of thinking that a BS with no skills will be superior to all else.

Only way it can put up a fight is at optimal, witch in most scenarios doesnĘt happenedą I actually fell bad for thorax pilots, they usually have no choice but to use mwd and that just ruins everything.
Caracl with 5 heavys and 3 racials can easly pwnd t-rex.
And for the kid who lost his Apoc, well his just a moroną ahahahahą
