I tried my first level 3 mission last night. In fact me a nd a corpmate did it cooperatively. It was the one with the pair of pirates "duo" something or other it is called.
NEVER before have I been so embarassed! We were both in battlecruisers. We warp in, 30 seconds later, my shields are down, "Run Away" I cry! 30 seconds after that my friend is also heading away. Those Dread Pithum Crushers were deadly! Being bracketed between two elite cruisers and two turrets is not fun!
In the end another of our corpmates flew 25 jumps to pick up his scorpion and our CEO logged in just in time to bring a wolf.
From then on it was plain sailing, but what a step up! I could do level 2s (prepatch I admit) in my uber kessie, level 3s I will have to wait till i can actually kit out the battleship i built!
I shall exact my revenge eventually, but till then if you see a red faced guy about, its probably me!

I used to suicide l3's in a rax now I fly a bs for them. Not very fun using a bs tbh. lock, fire guns til they die, repeat. --- What I say has nothing to reflect on what my corp decides, because... I'm stupid! :D

I thought/new it was a fun story as the same thing happeened to me last week ( first lev3 mission)in my cruiser. Gonna have another wee try until my BC arrives. Level 2's are just too damn easy and the curve to 3 is too steep I think. Level 2.5 might be a go ( kidding).

Well, Im playing EVe from 17.05 2005. So im young. And i find myself to do some lev3 missions lot easier in MAller-cruiser than in BC-Prophecy. Maybe i just used my fights for quicker and closer fights..so changing from Cruiser to BC for lev 3 is not neccesary "I will be safe from now on"...lol

used to walk lvl4's before patch..... just got back to doing missions after a little break, so far I'm finding my Assult Frig (Retribution) does great at lvl3's, no problem so far. gonna stick with them until my missile skills improve, and by that i mean getting the new skills to lvl4 i guess

High-quality Level 3s (where you end up facing Minmatar Stabbers and tougher threats) are really tough for cruisers. However, it's still viable to do low-quality level III kill missions in my experience, although some may be tougher than others. I've been able to do them in my Omen, although it is very risky. (I have 600,000 skill points.) For instance, never let the Viral Infector Drones close to anything resembling fire range. The bastards are tough as nails (it took forever to even take down the shields- with lasers!) and do lots of damage. -- @BrerRabbit> you have to be the iron mallet of reason @Quixzlizx> right now he's being the "stupid comedian" of reason |

I am currently doing lvl 3 missions in a Ferox, tanked the shields and use missiles. I¦m not doing lvl 3 missions now because of the latest patch, but for me the Ferox works great. It just soaks up all the damage it recieves and I just pick of the NPC¦s at my leisure. Never had to flee in lvl 3 mission, pre-patch that is... ------------------------- Sunny Iceland |

I run lvl3 mission in my ferox, and the only mission that could be a problem is black market hub, my shields were taken down to 48%.
All the rest are a walk in the park.

I have seriously neglected my missile skills so since the patch my missiles have a habit of bouncing off. Infact all my skills in the combat arena have been neglected. I am starting to sort them out. It is my own fault really, but hey every hour brings me one step closer. _______

Hmm...to be honest, lvl 3 after patch is something. Blew up my Ferox when my new missile skills were low, that made me hold on till I have my skills up high again. Then tried it with a new Ferox...kinda fun now if you asked me. A proper shield tanking is superb for lvl 3, some might be easy and some might be hard. So it gives the challenge there actually but the worst mission I would say is 'Silence the Informant' That's the mission that chewed my Ferox like bubble gum!! After some time, a buddy did the same mission and blew his Ferox too. So it's not me alone after all, it's the damn mission!! For those of you who haven't encountered 'Silence the Informant' mission, be very VERY careful.
Those that have no prob doing it in a BC...bravo! Coz I don't think I'm gonna do it anytime soon, plenty of other lvl 3 missions to do IMO.

The second stage of silence does a ton of em/thermal damage. Its hard to shield tank against it.
I dont believe there are any scrambler frigs though, so I'm not sure how you lost your ship. Make sure youre aligned, dont just sit there and realize at half structure you need to warp out.

Well there has been at least 1 mission since patch that has broken my bs tank, and I know how to tank a ship. So as is encoraged do your level 3 and 4 missions in a team. Much more fun thatway

There was in the pre patch version, it did not scramble everytime (lost my first ferox to that detail)... "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem solve itself" (credits to mcallister TCS)

I have two most important missile skills at lvl4, heavy missiles at lvl4. I fit passive tank at Ferox and have no problems in ANY lvl3 mission. I didn't try bonus level in Angel Extravaganza because I am doing it for standings (need to move to another lvl4 agent) so I don't collect the loot. Use passive shield tank (2xLarge Shield Extenders II and 2xShield Power Relays), named launchers (I am using XRs), painter, 2 hardeners, drones and small beam lasers against drones. It's almost too easy.

I did it in Maller and later with more succes in Prophecy. Thing is , do not be afraid to warp out few times. When you jump through second gate mark your way out imidiatly and fly toward it. you would be webed by wingman. You web him and kill him, then warp out if you low or kill elithe fighter if possible. so next time you will face 2 commanders and if you cant kill them both , kill one then warp. So, advice is....STEP by step :))

warp in, kill as much as i can, warp out, rep, go back in (with the rax). Or, when I had more isk than I knew what to do with... go in kill as much as I can until ship pops. Grab a new ship and repeat. Yea, I'm kinda stupid --- What I say has nothing to do with my corp.

Just did this mission tonight with my caracal, must have warped out like 5 times on that second area, though it would have been less if I went after the cruisers first, but I was worried the frigates would scramble me so took them out first even though they were doing very low damage.
Definitely right though, can finish just about any mission if you take the time to keep warping out, it's how I do the black market hub in a caracal too. Just have to have patience with it and make sure you don't get anxious and try and press your luck instead of taking more time and just warping.

There's no problem on lvl 3 mission with Ferox. I use it with a passive shield tank.
Only 1 warpout on "The spy Stash" but i don't run "Black market Hub" at this time

It really depends on your skills and the fitting. You can lose a Ferox very quick if you are at ~1mio sp and not very experienced in fitting a ship. It's like driving a Ferrari when you got your licence the day before.
Just posting it because a lot of people say Ferox is uber for lvl3. Yes it is, but only if you know what you are doing, have a good setting and enough sp for an effective usage of this ship. You don't insta-win when flying a Ferox (as you do in a cruiser in lvl2).

if you have good skills and are doing them smallest first largest last then I find the af retribution fx to be increadibly convenient.
Just finished the black market hub, only danger was 2x webber frigs +2x frigs +2x cruisers +2x cruise missile launcher sentries. After the webber are out there is no challenge left. Just dont approach all the time :)

How in gods name do you do the 2nd part of Spy Stash?
I went after the heavy missile turrets first, and it was less than sucessful.
I'm (was) flying an Ishkur, 3x 125 rails and 4 Hammerheads. And the usual SB, AB gubbins of course...

I did my first L3 last night, saving the Damsel in my Caracal, but it was hard work. I usually try to avoid the Ferox since it is so painfully slow, but if the rest of the L3 missions are worse, I will get toasted without it. Is regular L3 success in a Caracal possible, or was I just lucky?

It's true but you don't need so much SP, I've only 2,7M SP (1,6M in learning,300KSP in Ingineering,300KSP in missiles) and i run a passive shield tank without any problem

Fraid you were lucky. About half the lvl3's will squash your caracal. You really need to get a battlecruiser or an assult frigate.
Put a T2 after burner of the Ferox, I find it's pretty good with the AB, the low-speed issue is no longer there.
The key to cruising through level 3's in a Ferox is to set it up as a damage sponge. Passive tank with T2 large shield extender and stick an undersized shield booster, run the small booster non-stop. Also make sure you got at least 2 active hardeners. Trick with this is to have the skill to run those mods non-stop. Once you achieve that, you can literally AFK in the middle of a level 3 mission.
Off course, don't AFK in one of the tough level 3 missions like black market hub or spy stash. Other than that, nothing can kill you, not disconnects or lag.
