ever wanted that extra few mil and cant be bothered to steal a carebears ore to get it? well u could try this :-
1. buy a few units of trit 2. escrow them as an expensive/popular item (instas, bpc etc) 3. make escrows in all the major hubs (yulai, rens, jita etc) 4. make sure u use an alt in an npc corp to do this (npc corps cant be war dec'd) 5. watch the money roll in 6. when word of ur scams gets out recylce the char then start over.
tips - watch local chanels in the hubs for people asking to buy items etc, log in as alt, escrow 1 tritainium as said item and mention in local 'i can see 1 in escrow'
this scam works, ul be surprised how many people dont check the escrow before they claim

I can vouch for the effectiveness of this method. Whether I was the buyer or the seller I'll leave up to your imagination. ;)

Scamming, especially with noob alt char's, is just so terribly lame. The spamming of escrow so proper deals "dissapear" is a lot worse tho, imo.
Edit - been scammed once.. Bought a 110m mammoth named "Tempest".. Spent 2 days being excessively mad at the scammer for abusing my own stupidity against me.

hehe funny, but how can people fall for it. when I first went to escrow and did a right click I noticed the inspect merchandise. That was a big clue hehe.
Lots of bargins to be had in the escrows though. I could see scams maybe working regarding bookmarks. but I never buy them.

I'm fairly sure it's not. You can always "inspect merchandise", so if you forgo that option they proceed at your own risk. BMs are different, but I beleive the CCP response on this is that you warp to another person's BM at your own risk.

The sad thing is it obviously works because people still do it.
The thing that annoys me about it is people that get caught are greedy, lazy and have a brain fart all at the same time.
Ohh look, a cap recharger II for 8mill ISK or a temepst for 90mill ISK...

Those who were scammed on escrow probably deserved it. Inspect merchandise option is obvious and using it doesn't require a Ph.D degree in Economics. Buying BM's on escrow is a gamble as you can't check the merchandise, so do it at your own risk. Buying staff in deep low sec, located at POS is not a smart thing to do. Think how you can get there and whether you'll be able to dock the station at all.
IMO if you use your brain, you'll never get scammed.

While I don't fall for such tactics I do get annoyed that so much of escrow ends up being filled with crap.

Does this includes courier mission scamming, like 50M collateral for 100k ISKs over more than 15 jumps into deep space or low sec area/POS? ----------------------------------- Eve is all about Darwinism: 1. To be fair, it's generally newer characters or n00b's that fall for this kind of thing. Thats why it's basically lame.

What's the difference between a newer character and a newbie? :)
All sorts of people fall for it, elite players, new players, CEO's of big corporations, CEO's of one man corporations, industrial tycoons, miners, pirates, you name it. The fault is at the side of the buyer, the sellers can't help it that CCP made it incredibly easy to take advantage of other people's obliviousness, and as long as there are no official sanctions against it, you can not blame the seller for doing exactly that.
Everybody gets prompted before they accept the escrow and they are given the opportunity to inspect the merchandise prior to purchasing it. Whether it's lame or not is a matter of personal opinion, I find it equally lame, actually downright daft, that people don't scrutinise and inspect what they buy. Just like one would do on a market.

o look another "how to" thread how quint.
seriously people stop doin this its really not goin to give respect in game. People can seriously tell why your making these threads.
The arrogance...
Not to mention this one is totally not kewl. Escrow for me personally should be removed - why train those market skills when you can get total eve coverage on escrow.

The difference is that a newer player is more likely to think it sucks and not bother with eve any further. He is less likely to be judicious in inspecting the escrow, paranoid even. He will learn this only after he has been scammed. If he is resilient, he might stick around in Eve, if not - he'll quit. I know, I know, "you" don't like players like that in Eve anyway .
