Give it some time, 3000 people just tried to simultanously log in... probably just lag. If it isn't fixed in 5 mins try another petition.

Until yesterday I hadn't been stuck since maybe January of 2004...now two characters stuck three times total in the last 36 hours. Doing nothing other than jumping into my home system, undocking from home base, or warping to said base via the "dock" command.
I think I smell a new dev or two on staff.

Servers came back up a couple minutes ago.
Before the reset I had just jumped into New Caldari from Niyabainen in a shuttle on autopilot.
I got to the "Entering game as..." screen and couldn't get past it. I let it sit there for under 5 minutes.
I stopped that, then loaded up EVE from another install directory I have, which I had never used to log in with this account (or if I had it was so long ago I don't remember). I logged in using that Eve directory and it stalled on the "Entering game as..." screen, but it did eventually get in (wohoo!).
First thing I did was change to a long learning time skill.
Hope this helps.

Totally offtopic.
But plz donŠt rollback the missile changes. Because then most of us spent many useless days of training for the new skills and this would be lost time then. Keep the missile thingy as it is now.

Time for CCP to pay us. The idea of getting a two day credit is useless. I think that after making us the test subjects for their new patches we deserve more! How about giving ever player a TECH2 BPO??? Or taking one of those skills that take 30 days to train from lvl 4 to 5, and just give us lvl 5??? Or how about a single trouble free day in eve?

Don't worry - the only things being rolled back are hotfixes. The missile stuff happened in the upgrade to Cold War Edition and was not a hotfix.

Originally by: Ander I dont know if CCP has invested in a framework for automation of testing. But I do propose that any big software company do this. There're a couple of opensource systems for this. SAFSDEV, STAF.
http://staf.sourceforge.net/index.php http://sourceforge.net/projects/safsdev
While STAF deals with python I do not know if these systems would be usable in the EVE dev envoirment.
There're also a couple of commercial ($100k pricerange) software automation framework support systems.
Interesting stuff, I'll pass it on to QA (Don't think they use one). _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

Not sure this will help the Dev's but here goes..
Being 'stuck' hasn't been a major problem for me, but it has happened. A relog has fixed it every time, thankfully.
However, I do lose my right-click in space a lot lately. I can still click objects, but not open space. Not having the right-click working means no going to belts, no stations, etc.
I tried clicking the spot in the upper left to bring up the dropdowns and that didnt work. I also tried using People/Places in order to get to my BM's. All of the tabs worked fine except for the 'Places' tab.
It seems that whatever this problem is, it is directly related to the warp destination system (or whatever you call it).
Getting booted off the system became a very common event last night. I noticed that it happened whenever an evemail was coming in. In fact, ever since the big patch a couple weeks ago, every time an evemail comes through I get at least 15 seconds of screen freeze until the mailer lights up. It also takes minutes (not seconds) to load my Evemail window. I have emptied all but the important stuff from my mail.. but those DeD mails coming in constantly about POS's being low on fuel (when they are not) clutter it up pretty good.
In fact, over the last two weeks I'd have to say that the biggest 'problem' that I have had with lag and/or being booted have been directly related to the mailer. Perhaps killing that stupid message from DeD would help. If it's sending me a mail to tell me a station is low on fuel when it isnt, take the total number of POS's each corp has, then multiply that by the total number of corp members that get that mail, then add them all together and you can see how many evemails are being generated every hour. My guess would be somewhere in the neighborhood of hundreds - if not thousands - per minute. If that's not causing a lot of unneeded bandwidth and server load then I dont know what would :)
My suggestion: Kill the DeD POS warning mails, remove the 3 minute timers to online POS arrays (had to toss that in there cuz it's such a pain and makes no sense to have it to begin with), reboot and hope.
Kudos, WHeis

After latest reboot just now I got stuck undocking from a station in Sobaseki less then 20 seconds after logging on. When I try to log back in my character can't get passed the whole "Entering game as" thing.
Luckally I'm in empire, in a Merlin, and perviously set long skill training. For those that didn't set skill training I see how frustrating this is.
One more thing. For the short time I was on, I noticed that there was a slight lag in moving items around. Hope nobody loses their ship or other items cause of this ordeal.

When I got stuck last night and tried relogging I found that there were two of me docked at the station. My corp mate had the same problem.
On undocking I found right click in space didn't work.
Perhaps the system thought I was still docked, as my second self was still in the station.

I have been trying to log on to the Tranqulity servers since Saturday euro time evening server reboot, and not been able to. I have tried every 10 minutes more or less, beside some sleep. I believe you got a major backbone problem on your hands beside the server hotfix patch problem.
My connection to Tranquillity seems borked, ping plotter reports all fine, however download and forums are way slower than normal on average. The Eve Log server, logger tools tells me the server is not feeding the client with data, and little or no (far less than normal) line activity can bee seen exchanged in the log server application tool. Location; Southern Spain. Please roll back to what you had on Tranquility pre saturday at least.

Originally by: Oveur I posted news about the current situation. I need a fresh thread to get direct feedback when we take down Tranquiltiy.
Originally by: news The last days we have had a number of nodes on our cluster go into a state which cause players to be permanently stuck. The only resolution at this point in time is to reboot the whole cluster and we have been doing this when stuck players are reaching thousands.
We're have a number of steps we have been taking to take to address this, today we will begin with rolling back some of the hotfixes applied during the last week, since the timing can be traced to them. We might take down Tranquility today (Sunday) to do this and will give ingame notice before reboots.
As a result of all the problems associated with this, our Customer Support response time can take up to a 6 days for the first reply and are doing everything we can to work down our queue.
We thank you all for your patience and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes.
Keep the info coming. If you get stuck, I'd appreciate you tell us what you were doing at the time. This is most likely caused by a hotfix or side-effects of two hotfixes which only occur on a large cluster like Tranquility.
We will start by rolling back some of these hotfixes, which means we will be re-introducing bugs but these pale in comparison to having Tranquility stable.
Update: We have rolled back one hotfix and rebooted at 17:30 after a stuck crisis started. The cluster limits the number of users that can log in at the same time to prevent overloading the servers at startup (Seen as "Cluster limit")
Just an observation here, but did you not have a similar problem around Easter weekend which was later attributed to a cluster switch and spanning tree?

i had the same two of me apearing several weeks before the cold war patch and had to petition it so is this an old bug thats just been brought to the surface by the latest patch?

Just remembered something else..
Last night, when all the logoffs and stuck stuff was happening, I logged back in from being booted and my charactor name/icon did not appear in any of the chat windows.
I started talking in corp chat and my corpmates were asking me how I managed to get my name off the right-side list.
I also didnt show up on any of the market/private chats.. or in local.
Would have been a great cloak if I was fighting a war :)
Dont know if that has anything to do with anything, but there it is

why not mirror TQ on to the test server and test all 13000 or how many player accounts that on eve till you find out what one of the files and data is holding errors.
May be its some thing like a old char back from beta time that has items that the data base no longer sees right in the game as it is now.
That's exactly what they do, but unless 10,000 people log onto the test server (which isn't even possible, it has its limits) they won't be able to replicate the conditions on TQ.
This isn't a problem with some files holding errors or data corruption, it's a network problem. One of the hotfixes is causing the server cluster to ignore players, maybe players are 'falling through the *****s' when the server cluster rebalances the load or moves them to another node. As a result, when you log into EVE your client waits for a set of messages from the server but gets nothing, causing the client to halt and the character to become stuck.
But good guesses anyway, would rather see constructive input than whining.

S! I was able to log-in just now after two days, it still take a long long time to enter, and when I was in station half of the windows where unusable, like : market, corporation, wallet and assets. Anyway I was able to put a long skill in training, now I can wait till the problem will be fixed.

If it helps any I lost my right click in space last night as well.
Today I was doing fine until I tried to bring up my character details to check skill training. The skills appeared at first but I couldn't expand the page containing the currently trained skill. Then the character sheet came up empty. Then nothing came up. Then the neocom stopped doing anything. Then I had no control over my ship.
Oddly the chat windows continued working. -- (Battle hardened miner)

I lost 1 day 4 hrs of training on one of my chars last nite after the sever crash. The skill was due to finish around midnight, but was stuck on the "completion imminent", and after waiting for 30 min I started another skill, and lost 30 hrs of training.
