Of course, but we are not afraid of showing looses either. Just look at our killboard. And I think that Leafo showed us that in his video: NSN-File #11: The Art Of War. I think we actually gained some respect by showing the public that we did not win every battle (back then)

Sorry, I don't see this as an income-generating enterprise; in fact, I rather expect the war will be costly for both sides. But it's not like Seleene picked some carebear corp to ransom. SMASH, by their own admission, shot down two MC ships. Debate all you like about whether SMASH was right or wrong to take the first shot -- I'm sure they understood there could be consequences for punching *F1*, *F2*, *F3*, etc.
If they didn't understand, I think MC intends to enlighten them.
MC is trying to make a point: don't shoot at our guys unless you want to be in a war with all of our guys.

still i cant see a reason why MC should expect everyone to be neutral to them. Just cause they call themselfs Merc corp and can hide in Empire and enjoy only the good sides of war and never the bad ones (like losing systems, stations or even having someone who wants to totaly destroy ur alliance). This game doesnt need Merc corps who just switch the sides for money, its needs alliances populating 0.0 space and if MC doesnt want to do that then they shouldnt whine about getting killed in 0.0 space of other alliances. The truth is there is no neutrality cause u are a constant threat to any alliance cause the only value u have is money and thats a dangerous one.

You clearly are missing the point.
MC doesn't expect everyone to be neutral to them. They just intend to make clear that anyone who wants a fight will get all they can handle.
It's not whining: it's killing. And MC are very, very good at killing.

Mercenary Coalition is a politically neutral military organisation. We work for who pay us, and we perform our work with greates client satisfaction. When we do not work everyone should know that a Mercenary does not bother any potential client nor do we stray from our proffession which is as mercenary. We are able to operate in 0.0 regions peacefully, even though they may be conflict zones, due to our reputation. We are not as naive to think everyone will accept us, thus we choose regions according to inhabitants which makes conflict zones a better choice (in a true conflict you do not want more (competent) enemies). When someone forces us to step aside from our normal modus operandi, we give them a chance of redeeming themselves fully first, as can be seen through the private mail SMASH made public. After the opposing party has shown their intentions to accept redemption, we also offer them the chance to negotiate the actual price. SMASH chose not to negotiate, and thus Mercenary Coalition is forced to show them why our services are asked for so much.
Mercenary Coalition is not a politically cultivating organisation, but gathering enemies and friends is not politics.
This is nothing more and nothing less. We treat everyone evenhandedly, but ultimatly we are militaries and we do not suffer fools.
I'd also like to request further moderation in removing off topic replies and off topic discussions, such as the 1v1 boasting discussion. -- If TC causes you discomfort that you feel is unwarranted or may be outside TC's current contract - contact me, please.

I must add that 90% of the ships of SMASH I have killed, have been wearing warp core stabs. This includes at least 2 WCS on their interctors and assault frigs. So 1v1ing these guys is pretty much out of the question, as they gimp their setups so much they have to warp out.

Its all begining to make sense now, we have discovered that the Freelancer Blood Alliance is working with SMASH allaince to try and capture the Vale of the Silent region.
A large force of FBA pilots were killed by SAS-VOC this evening and were flying with members of the SMASH allaince.
That is all

I think it's more a matter of who shot at them, not lack of diplomacy, that they are taking this action. Here's a mental exercise: Replace SMASH with BOB and re-run the events. Different outcome?

Yes yes yes, we never go into 0.0.
Fact of the matter is that we much prefer empire because that style of fighting is generally much more to our liking. However, we've all done stints in 0.0 (hell, half the MC corps lived there for a long time) and have absolutely no qualms about going there to beat the crap out of anybody. --------------------------------- Carebears are cooler than you.

Ok,
I am talking on behalf of my CORP. I am wondering why; when I found out what was going on with the SMASH Alliance and the war, and we are a builder Corp and miners and have never bring on acts of violence towards and members of the Mercenary Coalition. We pulled out of the alliance, do to the fact we had neither say nor any part in the going to war thing. Which as of last night the Mercenary Coalition knew we had pulled out, but today I found out we have had random acts bring on us. The strange thing is why is the Mercenary Coalition, who is about fighting PVP doing nothing more then attack a mining corp. and it members and equipment. It has been bringing to my attention that the Mercenary Coalition was full of members who stood up for the good of all who can afford to pay them. If you will the "Robin Hoods" of the EVE game, strange actions of robin hood to kill to helpless and those who are not in the war.
SO in short, I have always heard the good of the Mercenary Coalition was of myth and tall tales. Because if it was found to be true they would not be attacking miners, but using these great PVP skill they have to kill the other killer PVP players they where hired to attack I would believe.
As to the posting I see the attack where made by ROME, not the Lords of Andromeda. Strange they where going to kill them, but instead came after the miners, makes me wonder was the isk paid to do this. Well spent?

Deathjudge,
If you've read this thread, you will know that no one hired us this time. If you read this thread you would also know that one of the main reasons we are at war was due to poorly handled diplomacy on the part of Smash Alliance. You are continuing this tradition even now by making this post on EVE-O without even once trying to convo a member of the MC in-game that I am aware of. Bad idea.
This is no random act. Welcome to all out and total war. This is what the MC does when we mobilize. We make no distinction between you and your alliance-mates.
Your alliance, that your corp description still paints you as a member of, is now the focus of the MC's attention. You left SMASH without a word to us. We've seen this time and again, but this time we are not going to let it go, hence the seperate war dec for your corp.
Why don't you find a way to take this off of the forums and contact one of us in game? I make no promises, but perhaps a private chat can achieve things a public post cannot? -
We're outnumbered! That simplifies the problem! |

I'd also like to point out something of the nature of this game, EVE. Your distinction between a fighter and a carebear is in my opinion arguable at the very least.
EVE is a game of risks and consequences, and we all use the tools of our trade to enhance our position, be the methods direct acts of aggression or e.g. through economy.
You declare to be part of an entity called SMASH alliance. You support that entity, and saying that because you yourselves are vulnerable to direct attacks you should be left alone is a rather naive self-serving argument.
If you are not ready to be part of said alliance, or any other, don't pretend to. Take the responsibility of the actions of the alliance you claim membership of, and don't hide behind the pretense of your vulnerability.
(My personal statement)

There's a distinct difference between premeditated murder and manslaughter. So for my curiosity and sensationalism, did you go out of your way to specificly target MC ships, or specificly those pilots? Or was it just scortched earth on any blips in the area?

Oh and I see that npc hunters are women and children now, how wonderful.
Obviously not. But they're both non-members of the two waring factions (this being yourselves and the F-E Alliance). You're saying that anyone who enter's a "warzone", as subjectivly defined by the person behind the gun, is a valid target. Which is basically moral relativism.
So one hand's saying "Oh MC how you suck because I've lost respect for you due to ..." and the other hand is say "But at the same time I only believe in that which is convenient to me at the same time"
Not having ever fought you, I'll take you at your word that you're awesomesauce PKs. So why did you sneak up on two people NPCing without declaring your intentions? That's what gurillas and terrorists do, due to the fact that they're weak and have no other options. It's an act of desperation. What would make you so desperate to kill MC?

Edited by: Zandramus on 29/07/2005 13:44:20 Actually I think the problem you are having is that your used to the Carebears that were down in the Stain region.
What you have encountered by coming up to Geminate is hard core PVP'ers that have taken your gimped ships and lame tactics and mullered you everytime you are encountered in space.
To top this off you guys managed to talk a carebear allaince into thinking that they could come into Vale and be able to operate there without our blessing. Funney thing is we would have let them live there if they had asked us and followed our rules. but not now that they have set up a pos and attacked us, they will never be welcome in Vale / Geminate. Once they are gone we will be looking for people to populate the area.
I see Smite has left the area and is now no longer an alliance member and has gone back down to shoot the carebears in Stain. Ill give it a week before you do the same.

I think you miss the point Beringe. Vale is not SMASH space, it is F-E space. If we had been shot at by F-E, an escalation of the conflict would have been very unlikely.
We are not enforcing a right to move through anyones territory. Far from it. What we are saying is that we will not let unprovoked attacks on our members lie. We would consider us entering another alliance's claimed space a provocation, and therefore treat attacks on us in that circumstance differently.
It is pointless to replay these events with BoB instead of SMASH, because this situation would never have occured with them. We have a tremendous amount of mutual respect, and I feel it is unlikely that they would go out of their way to attack us in space claimed by neither of us, as SMASH did. ----------------------------------------
