SO in short, I have always heard the good of the Mercenary Coalition was of myth and tall tales.
This is a question to MC, not Deathjudge.
Is it your intention on trying to be the "good guys" of Eve? Because it was my understanding that you were just honorable mercs. (lawful neutral in nerd-speak).
A good percentage of these forums are arguing about how goodie-goodie MC was before this, or how they're tarnishing their reptuation etc.
Maybe I'm just easily confused?

S.M.A.S.H alliance.... lollerskates... seriously....
*recovers composure* SMASH you are wayyy out of your depth. How many billions have you lost since you arrived? In the first 24 hours you lost a Machariel and a POS (which we killed via "exploit" ofc)... and that was only what I personally witnessed. As if you didn't have enough on your plate with SAS/VOC (who will pwn you) you now pick a fight with MC? This is too funny... It has to go down as the worst attempt at an invasion ever seen in Eve to this date.

Well I didn't join BDCI to be a "good guy", and in my opinion us being nuetral is a business dessision. A client knows we work for them and them only.

Shut your mouth, get in game, get your ship, come fight us.
Every engagement in the last 2 weeks with SAS/VOC has turned out in our favor, many of them with no losses. The Mach and POS were most of the losses incured by F-E, I think we lost 2-3 BS to them later, to the 20-30 we killed.

Our intel dept indicated that moste of your ppl is in empire anyway .. or was just before the war started.

Edited by: Dray on 29/07/2005 18:54:24 A long time ago I gave up reading this section of the forums but i was told about this thread by a friend so i thought i'd have a look at whats happening, firstly let me say ive had no dealings with MC but i know their reputation, and passing dealings with smash, mainly Smite in and around fv something or other in stain a while back before we left stain, fought a few of the smite guys and they were ok, a tad reluctant on a fair fight to point where we had to work at them with lesser numbers but eventually they would play, nothing special but game enough.
This incident on face value isnt really open to dispute, two corps out of there normal sphere? but an unprovoked attack carried out under the guise of "your in 0.0 your fair game" excuse.
My thoughts on this for what there worth are personal views on attitude this may seem a little left field but pertinant so here they are
1. The first rule of making a c*nt of yourself is not to get caught... 2. Unless you want to get caught..
With this small but priceless little insight (in my opinion) it seems smash want this or are trying to be "we're badass we dont care", all the comments on this post as a by product are to be expected and can be a suprise to anybody.
In conclusion, with eve mechanics in mind there will be a great or poor conclision.

An interesting question. The MC are not "good guys" in the sense that we wear white hats and rescue that stupid damsel every other night about 30 times. I think the reason people have this perception that we are "goodie-goodie" is because the community enjoys the vids we make and when we go to war against someone, we try not to get caught up in the politics of it all. For us, war is about numbers, be it the ISK we are being paid to the kill ratios we maintain against our enemies.
Most of us have a "don't give a damn" attitude about others opinions of us. We are who we are and we've never tried to be anything else. We have our pride, but most of the respect I think we've earned has been through deeds and not just words. We've shown grit and resolve where others have folded and hid. That goes a long way with some people while others will call us show-boating, egotistical, WCS-wearing, agent-runner ganking, 10 on 1 fighting self-righteous bastards. That's usually fine with us and it's always funny to see people's reactions when we don't take the bait, just nod our heads and get back in game to continue our job.
Most importantly, the MC stands for an ideal that many strive for, but few fail to achieve and that is consistency. You can always count on us to be candid and on target when presented with most any issue.
As for tarnishing our reputation, in this particular case we felt it was required that we respond in a way that would leave no doubt as to how serious we take any attack on our pilots outside of war time. We never said that we should be immune to some of the antics of 0.0. What we are saying is that with respect to our pilots and ships, don't f*ck with us unless you are prepared to reap the consequences. This is the rightful stance of any organization in EVE.
This is the first time we've done this in over a year. I can't say if it will be the last time, but perhaps others will take note of our resolve in matters of this nature and choose not to test us in the future. Most alliances and large corps in EVE recognize the value of keeping the MC at arm's length because you never know when 150 seasoned PvP'ers for hire might come in handy. SMASH could have been just one more alliance with whom we have a cordial and neutral relationship. They not chose to take a different path, one that has set us upon them for a time yet to be determined. The choice as to how long, as always, remains with them.
-
We're outnumbered! That simplifies the problem! |

Press release - SMASH Alliance
Good job Smash!!!!
Quote: 2005.07.27 20:23:00 Mercenary Coalition has declared war on SMASH Alliance. After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved.
As the most of you know the Mercenary Coalition is a politically neutral organisation, only acting hostile when contracted to do so.
Recently SMASH Alliance conducted numerous unprovoked hostile acts towards the Mercenary Coalition.
That and poorly handled diplomacy has led to this decision;
SMASH Alliance will now be hunted down and killed.
Thank you and have a nice day.

First off I told ArcticWolf that we would be the ones killing him. That tured out to be true. As far as I know he had only had a few kills in that ship before he lost it. Most of all he was killed because of his own medium mobile warp disruptor... Ironically named "Arctic's Bubble of DOOM!" which turned out to be named correctly because his doom was impending as we jumped in.
