Warping at distance doesn't work when it's a drag bubble in line to station or gate. However, the "investigators" could warp from a different angle - unless the cyno is inside the bubble. Then they still could scan the moon with d-scan and warp there at distance.
Of course all this requires more work than warping to a beacon like a lemming.
@OP: You're saying the cyno is being run all the time. That means someone is willing to spend money (LO) for increased protection and giggles. Seems to be a fair deal. If you're falling for that more than once, I don't see a problem on their part.

A trap that can't be countered....except for warping to a cyno from a different spot, using your onboard scanner to see if any anchor bubbles are around, using a ship that can't be dragged (T3) etc etc.

Here is the point all of you keep missing. If we don't warp directly to the cyno, we will miss tackling the jump freighter. Even if we warp to a planet or safe spot near the cyno to make sure it is not a trap, by the time we find out it IS the jump freighter and then warp to the cyno, it will have safely warped off into the shield.
We tried to use a nullified cloaking tech 3 ship to investigate, but that guy decided to take matters into his own hand and try and snipe the bait ship. Unfortunately, he lost the Tengu to the POS before his missiles hit the bait cyno ship.
The only course of action that we could do to put a stop to this was reinforce the tower and later kill it completely after it comes out of reinforce mode. As bad luck would have it the guy who was going to light a cyno for our dreads was pulled into the bubble trap. So he rage logged off and logged off his Phoenix dread alts. So we no longer had enough firepower and could not attack it.
The point of all this is it is a 100% risk free setup for logistics and 100% killer of investigators. It should not be possible to do this. |

You need to learn patience.
If it is a trap, or not, you check it out - either by sac'ing a scout, or scanning it down and investigating carefully. If it's a trap, move on. If it's not, there's a good chance another target will come along using the same route. Setup and wait. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Or... cloak a stealth bomber off the cyno spot and set a trap for them. Or... pick a different gate to enter the system (since you mentioned a sling bubble).
FYI, if they're doing it right, the JF will be inside (or in warp to inside) the POS before you land, bubble or no bubble. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Knowing the trap is there is the first step in evading it.
Try not to be so eager when you see a cyno. Maybe, IDK, investigate it first with dscan? See lots of drones on dscan, yes, it's a trap don't go there. HTFU!...for the children! |
