I want to see:
Gurista really invade Caldari, Angel Cartel invade Minmatar space, Serpentis invade Gallente and Blood Raiders raid the hell out of Amarr space.
I want NPC rats blowing **** up!! I want to see NPC gate camps, station camps and obliterate unsuspecting miners. Im tired of seeing these cheesy rats in the belts.....so called "spies" and "scouts".
CCP, highsec as it stands right now is boring. Its too safe an area of the game. Dont nerf the rewards of carebears in highsec. Increase them. But make 0.5-0.7 systems more dangerous with good bounties for retaking systems. Good bounties for eliminating NPC gate and station camps. Give players a reason to escort freighters, protect miners and provide cover for mission runners to get out of station to go complete a
Freighters autopilot all throughout Empire without much risk. Miners afk in belts with only gankers to worry about. I want to see carebears band together to retake their home when the NPC pirates invade and make it as dangerous to leave station as if they were in lowsec or null. Carebears are good at one thing.....killing NPCs. So CCP, give them more **** to shoot at.
Have Sleepers hop in from that new k162 that spawned and start kiling players in hisec. Give players a reason to pay attention before undocking.
Have NPCs pod players too.
At least for a few months, have all the NPC pirate factions truly invade highsec so it affects EVERYONE who lives in 0.5-0.7 systems. Incursions are cool, but not dangerous enough. I want to see exploding pinatas in highsec. Make us all have to fight to defend our homes. Because right now, the highsec PvE is just too damn easy and boring. Some love PvE without the PvP. So give us more intense PvE in highsec.
Set highsec on fire!!!!!!! |

You mean more risk-free isk and loot? Better to add some kind of mechanic to allow faction warfare gangs to come into enemy highsec space and kill everyone without invoking a Concord response. Collaborators from other races are no better than the race you're actually fighting against. No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff

Not risk free. Players should have to escort freighters and orcas. The invading NPCs should not be easy. They should be out for blood. hell i would like to see them bring in their own miners and start clearing belts. Make miners have to fight to get to use their belts. Have there be the possibility that Dodixie fall under the control and ownership of Serpentis. Throw the market in disarray because highsec isnt so safe anymore. |

Don't need too much to have some action, only need events (like incursion, or live events or FW related events) that temporary drop the sec status in specific systems.
Then things happen :)

Anything involving NPCs is meticulously cataloged and put on various websites so that carebears can maximise their isk per hour. My way would involve players creating the content, which would mean it would be less predictable. As a group of people, Eve players do things that are stupid, brilliant, stupidly brilliant and brilliantly stupid. This keeps it fresh and exciting, kinda like all other emergent player-driven content in the game. No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff

Not if its random and/or spearheaded by the devs like live events. I heard the devs did a live event where the took a serpentis titan across a part of eve. Players were tasked with destroying the titans. Some players can out and took fhe side of the Serpentis and managed to escort the titan all the way. CCP has the tools and the ability to do those types of events. I want them to do that kind of stuff in highsec.

Maybe sections of the area where the pirates have briefly cut CONCORD communications or something. Limited to maybe a station in a high sec area based on where the pirates are raiding? Mixed in with some DUST interactivity. |

This would actually be a wonderful thing, but I doubt they'd ever do it. Sec status of systems should randomly drop due to pirate faction incursions, and rats in those systems should be widespread and rabid. With the drop in sec status, player pirates could find themselves in a very fun environment, and high-seccers would be only mildly forced to play defensively while in-system. |

Dude, you don't advocate any of that stuff. You just go around whining how you want NPC corps removed or wardecs against them in every single thread you go to involving anything with high sec or people against something. Its gotten rather old. If its such a big deal, why don't you talk about it in detail in a thread focused on the subject, with details backing up your "claims" rather than whining everywhere else to try and take the focus off the current subject. |

People keep coming up with complaints like "highsec is boring", "make EVE more newbie friendly", "nullsec power blocs" and "ISK inflation" and "miner bumping" as problems and all of them have one very simple source, one fixed by fixing the stifling nature of highsec gameplay (the majority of EVE players' gameplay). People dispute this, such as you in your early posts yapping some silly nonsense about how 'wardec evasion is unbeatable' (proved it wasn't), the drop in carebear subs would kill EVE (carebear-only subs are proven insignificant) and how NPC corps defend newbies (proved they didn't). Now all you have are posts like the one I'm quoting.

let regular capitol ships in high sec again. Carriers and Rorquals, not dreds or supers (yet).
Not like you can't program CONCORD to have the self destruct code for a cap to prevent server lag.
Once you do that, bring in heavy pirate raids with ships bigger than a carrier to fight against. Let them lay siege to a station in high sec. Let the factions come in and fight to make it look good, but not really do any significant damage without player help.

Entering every topic with a title like that with simply stating "do this, it'll make things better" isn't backing up anything in any universe. And never did I say anyone who disagreed with me was a whiner, just those with attitudes like yours who always has to bring up the same subject over and over, ignoring the content of the actual post. Essentially you're admitting that you responded only to the title of the post and nothing more. No discussion of merits about the content, no displaying the merits of your suggestion. Nothing. You just bring it up for the sake of bringing it up because you want it now. |

Could say that about null sec problems too quite often, or any problem really... if there are issues in the game, no matter where they are, high sec, low sec, null sec, they should be given consideration, and its obvious that anyone who brings up an issue is affected by it in some way or foresees being affected by it in the future.... so really you've pretty much brought up statements that in a way could describe every single forum post ever if you just replace a couple words according to situation. All of these issues would be swiftly answered by allowing normal and intended PvP to happen in the most populated area of EVE, by resolving wardec evasion and removing NPC corps, while much more easy to implement instead of creating advanced NPC AI. Brevity is the font of wit. If you want an example of a true kneejerk post without argument or reason, look no farther then here:

Personally I think the best part would be to make gate rats, and have the belt rats actually be a threat. I mean currently you can resist with 20hp/sec. Now if they were to get better based on the chaining mechanic I think that would be fun.
But really I love the incursion idea. Make them increase and matter as more than just a community. And have them effect regions instead of constellations. Suddenly things happen.
But definitely, FW players should be able to kill members of the other side entirely. The trick is the navy will respond and not be pushovers like the current ones. They will be the old ones that everyone hated for using ewar and more.
But really this will all be there this summer. What with pirate theme and all. I love this crystal ball CCP! |

All of these issues would be swiftly answered by allowing normal and intended PvP to happen in the most populated area of EVE, by resolving wardec evasion and removing NPC corps, while being much more easy to implement instead of creating advanced NPC AI. I'm sure you'll want me to prove self-evident 'claims' related to this, like "is a live player really better adapting then a CCP script file?" or something. If you want an example of a true kneejerk post without argument or reason, look no farther then here: Aren Madigan wrote:James Amril-Kesh wrote:"I stay in the NPC corps and don't interact with anyone! CCP ADD CONTENT TO KEEP ME ENTERTAINED OR I'LL UNSUB." Sort of like how you cry about hi sec not being low or null sec. Heady stuff, great argument.
I don't know. NPC haulers and miners are ganked all the time so its not like they are avoiding anything. In fact, I'm privy to people in NPC corps that gank other people regardless of if they are in a NPC corp or not.
Yep. Thats right. NPC corp members as gankers. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". If you fantasize about being immoral it means you enjoy being immoral deep down. |

Those are actually points you could try making and I'd be willing to discuss them. Actually its more "Hey, this dude is trying to force his solo playstyle on a multiplayer game. He can play any number of singleplayer games but instead attempts to force his style on devs that have a backlog of serious issues to address."
Also, precedence:
Quote:Jonric: What role will missions play in the game? (snip)
Thorolfur Beck: Players will be able to go on specific missions for the empires. These can range from freight-carrying to combat-oriented (pirate-cleaning) to covert missions (spying, finding information). The missions are mainly for players to learn all the different aspects of the game, and earn some bucks in the process. We don't intend AI involved missions to be the be-all and end-all of the game - they are something we believe many players will dabble in for a while and then move on to more actual missions involving other human players.
Quote:Jonric: Will there be any computer-controlled opponents to fight, or only other players? What about computer-controlled guard ship or escort ships?
Thorolfur Beck: There will be computer-controlled opponents in some areas - call them space dungeons. Computer-controlled enemies are not, however, thought of as centerpieces of the game-play in EVE, but rather as a variation to help players tune combat skills or to keep players busy while waiting for grander schemes to unfold. We will try to channel conflict into the PvP direction, in a way that allows for a lot of much more exciting battles than possible with any AI, but without making life unbearable for the more peaceful or inexperienced players. In the secure zones in the game world there will be a lot of empire-controlled ships flying around, both armed ships guarding the peace as well as just normal space traffic. Doesn't sound like an idea that would have to be solo based to me (see incursions)... though I suppose your "precedence" quote does throw my idea of it creating a station wide null sec zone out the window if nothing else. That's not exactly something you'd give players the power over. Still, you could say what you just said rather than be snarky. At least it lends itself more towards having a little more explainable and respectable viewpoint. |

some difference and variety to things would be nice but there seems to be an overwhelming sense that what players want when they talk about generating content "thier way" is merely freedom to gank anything that cant shoot back without any risk of being blown up by uber npcs thus making the affected areas lowsec/nullsec. However null and low already exist. So like i said it seems purely just people trying to extend the amount of space they can blow up ships that have no weapon slots and/or tank slots.
Im all for things not being easy, things could be done to make incursions actually fun and mind numbingly terrifying if only there was room in the coding for random spawns and major game changers, for just 1 example. Also i agree that belt rats are stupid, little frigates with 80-100hp in 0.7 systems. thats just a big fat "lol" even for t1 hobgobs. |

I dunno, I've only really been playing for a few months (real time) and the first thing I did was disable the safe route option. I must play at an odd time because the largest group of people I seen in any low sec system was 6 and the one guy that tried to PvP must have forgotten to train any targeting skills to go with his BC It was kind of exciting to see an incoming lock from a player. |

Unfortunately for you, thanks to the efforts of many 0.0 dwellers, but also lowsec and highsec mission runners, such large quantities of Gurista, Angel, etc ships are destroyed, that they are currently not capable of amassing fleets large enough to take on Concord, or the much more threatening Empire faction navies at this point, like the (largely unsuccessful) Sansha are doing. |

Nullsec doesn't have CONCORD. Highsec does. The vast majority of highsec PVE is done in mission areas, in deadspace, which requires that someone use combat scan probes to find you. The vast majority of nullsec PVE is done in anomalies - the entire list of anomalies in-system is scanned down in ten seconds using the system scanner and you can warp to them directly. There is less PVP in high than in null, both consensual and non-consensual. In null most people are there because they want to PVP, or because they at least want to contribute to it in some fashion. Having vast swathes of blue space, despite your preconceptions, actually encourages reds to roam in our space and kill ratters who have become complacent. And boy, do they get complacent - this has happened hundreds of times in the past few months alone. Lets face facts, Established and well skilled players want any excuse to be able to kill easy targets as often as they like, "why" because that's fun, well only for 1 party in that scenario, Eve caters to that party in a big way as everything worth doing in Eve requires a High risk, or 9/10 times being ganked and killed by better players (Better meaning significantly higher skilled and equipped) who do it because they can and its FUN......for them.
Eve is a Fantastic PVP sandbox with a detailed and awesome crafting system, and will be for years to come, BUT, the PVE side of the game is way below par....
Il use SWTOR as a example, Fantastic story, Fantastic leveling system. God awful PVP and absolutely no sandbox what so ever with a rinse repeat token grind at end game.....It failed, by failure it has around 30k - 60k active players on a daily basis....That number is the same for EVE....So make your assumptions.
Fact is with a solid PVE environment this game will attract 3 times as many players. And that is only a good thing in the long run.
Die hard PVPers will do everything they can to drive PVEers out of a game like this. Only problem is when they are gone, what are you going to do then.....Fight among yourselves, with noone gathering your Ore and materials or providing easy kills.......Sounds like fun ????
Mine is every player in Eve should be campaigning for a better High Sec. Because without it 20k players leave this game overnight ?????

I am entertained by the posters who keep trying to divert the discussion to PvP in highsec. Im proposing more PvE content in highsec at such a scale that it makes Highsec dangerous for everyone. I can understand why people who want to PvP wouldnt want this. Same reason that one guy in another thread was bitching about the npc A.I. now switching targets and ruining his Pilgrim sneak attacks.
I love PvP as much as I like PvE. However, im not posting to ask for more PvP in highsec. Ill be happy for more. Id love for a day or two a month where concord takes a vacation and we can all go crazy in highsec without any rules. But CCP isnt going to do that.
Highsec is the land of PvE whether you, I or anyone likes it or not. I just want more widespread nonconsentual PvE in highsec because I know CCP isnt going to go for more nonconsentual PvP in highsec.
Id like to also see NPCs fight each other. Would add to the lore. Serpentis invades a system in Gallente space to establish a foothold to bring in more forces. Gallente Navy responds by sending in forces to drive Serpentis out and retake the system. Players participate by siding with Gallente or Serpentis in that system. Whether it is 0.5 or 0.7, that highsec system is a warzone.
Why cant I remote rep Serpentis ships if another player is attacking that serpentis ship? That would be fun. Players bringing in ships to assist the Serps or the Gallente Navy. Have an option presented when jumping into system or undocking in that system: (This system is at war between Gallente and Serpentis. Choose your alligiance. Gallente or Serpentis). Player chooses, and depending on who they choose, A.I. of the NPC determines if that player is friendly or hostile.
There could be systems in conflict spead around Empire. What I am thinking is along the lines of FW and DUST, except PvE oriented content for Highsec which any player in EVE can take part in, no matter who they are or what corp/alliance they are in. Incursions already provide similar content, but in a more scripted way. Pirate NPC incusions should be more random and more widespread to include gates, stations, etc. Not just sites and belts.
Id also like to see missions where I am fighting along side friendly NPCs. Every mission is setup to be run solo. There needs to be more encouragement, incentive, and reward for being in a fleet. More targets the more you have in fleet. Have missions scale with the size of the player fleet. |

James Amril-Kesh wrote:No, it isn't. If PVE is all you want this isn't your game. What we most definitely do not need is an influx of a hundred thousand players all coming for the PVE element, a large portion of whom will be crying that ganking in highsec should be against the rules, scamming should be against the rules, wardecs should be consensual, etc.
PVE is not all i want by any shot and i don't recall ever mentioning that PVE is all i want. So now we have clarified that. 1 simple fact among ALMOST every MMO out on the market today is
PVEers do not need PVPers..........PVPers in MMOs rely on PVEers.
Down play that and say it does not exist in Eve till the cows come home, fact is PVPers in Eve need PVEers to mine and make there resources. They are also a Fun side of the game for gankers and the like and without them Eve would not be the game it is........Am i wrong or not ???
I know im not :-)
I do not want Eve to ever be a fluffy bunny, no way at all, but making PVE a better place does not need to effect PVP in this game. And can only go to the game receiving more players which in turn means more money for development. I thouroghly agree with you on the 100k players coming in and complaining, but noone is asking CCP to make it hello kitty online. Just a bit more fun for the people trying to establish themselves in an MMO that caters to players with 5 year skill queues :-) |

City of heroes, the day it released, had a nifty little feature that would spawn mobs in a zone, near you, based on your level.
Go into a zone that had level 10-15 mobs, kill a bunch of those lvl 10 mobs when you're level 15, and the new mobs will spawn at a higher level.
I really don't understand why CCP doesn't have rats spawning based on the people in a belt. 5 exhumers in a belt, and oh the horror, 3 NPC frigates that combined can't kill a mach that is fit properly show up.
They should spawn harder mobs if miners sit in a belt long enough. If other games could do this when they released, around the same time EVE released, there's no reason that CCP can't do it.
Where does CCP bill EVE as "cold and harsh", but only when another player actually wants to lose isk suicide ganking you in high sec.
And given some of the changes recently that have made suicide ganking far less desirable, and according them drastically increased the number of people mining in high sec, it would make a lot of sense for CCP to beef up the rats to be a viable threat to players. |

Rats are the reason miners never tank their ships. The odds of getting ganked are so incredibly low that it's a waste to tank your ship. You load it with MLU's, drop a couple of drones that you'll only ever lose when you forget to return them, and you're good.
This is why miners never gave a **** when people told them how to fit a hulk. This is why people who explained how to tank the hulk never understood why the miners wouldn't listen. People expected them to fit a ship for that .00001% chance someone might actually gank them; while that other 99.999% of the time they're making less isk because they're not mining as efficiently. |

When you undock you make yourself a valid target for PVP. You don't live in a bubble when you "PVE", and your actions have consequences. Every single player in this game is a PVPer, whether they like it or not :-)
And those high end PVP players would purchase mining barges and start mining away and producing ammo if it become worthwhile to do so. Stating that no one would mine or produce goods if players like you don't do it is an opinion based in total ignorance of market forces. The free market is a wonderful thing. |

Sandbox does not mean a game devoid of developer created content. It never has, nor should it ever.
Face of mankind was that kind of game, it got sold like twice. Because people don't like games that have no content.
UO wasn't devoid of content. It didn't require people to "make their own fun".
This whole "it's a sandbox, you make your own content" is a bunch of utter bullshit. Being able to make your own content does not mean that's the ONLY content you can get. It's still a ******* game, and the developers are still required to provide complelling and fun things to do that will allow players to create emergent content.
I don't understand you guys that are against improved PvE content. As if EVE doesn't already have a shitload of PvE content in it, which it does, but the AI and difficulty (read: rediculously easy) makes it dull and unfun for a L.OT of people.
Just for something to break a little of the monotony, I've been doing missions the past few days. Just a couple, not really grinding or trying to make isk or anything. Just doing it to alleviate a little boredom; it's been awful.
You ******* people keep seem to be against EVERYTHING. You guys don't want CCP to do anything that isn't flying in space, but don't want them to add any new and interesting PvE content that is actually challenging.
It's like EVE's community is comprized almost mostly of people who bot and they don't want that distrupted.
EVE is not a shallow PvP game, but it seems that's all some of you want.
EVE isn't dying, but it's not taking on a bunch of new people either. We've been sitting with the same playerbase for a while now, and the only reason they got to the 450k mark had nothing to do with us and everything to do with a server we don't play on, located in China.
You "all pvp" crowd are as bad for EVE as the risk averse pussies who are afraid to lose stuff. Both groups are horrible customers, that if CCP listened to, would destroy EVE. |

I kind of like this idea... things being able to esculate into a full pirate raid if enough miners are spotted in a single area by rats... something that makes it where if you have a full mining fleet, you proooobably want an escort with you, and set up in a way where its worthwhile and fun for the escort.

The PvE needs to be improved, and I'd love if concord was something the bad guys had to actualy fight against; not just die too. Then the real pirates could create content in high sec.
But god forbid the ganker doesn't explode because they fired a single shot at a miner to make their extortion efforts actually mean something.
High sec isn't just boring because the content is rather dull, it's also boring because conocord prevents more emergent gameplay and player created content. NPC pirates can fly around and shoot stuff, ineffectively, but if a player does it they're struck down by the hand of god.

NPC's need a serious beefing up in high sec, they're ******* ******** as it stands. i agree as being real beings they would at some stage start to understand that they are pussies and begin to stock up or gtfo and not come back. rats in high sec belts shouldnt even show up. I kind of like this idea... things being able to esculate into a full pirate raid if enough miners are spotted in a single area by rats... something that makes it where if you have a full mining fleet, you proooobably want an escort with you, and set up in a way where its worthwhile and fun for the escort.
AWESOME idea... this way miners could no longer complain about ganking because NPCs do it too ! and it would become a norm to fly with protection in eve ! SWEET idea !

OP is claiming that highsec is too boring, and doesn't have any dangerous NPCs when in fact -highsec safety is its main feature, changing it would be silly -low and null already has most of the things he's asking for -highsec does actually have some of the stuff to, in Incursion form
Nullsec people have never complained bout null being too dangerous and wanting to make it safer like highsec. Not that I can remember, anyway.

Its not just your play time. Low sec is, barring the odd camped system like Egghelende and Old Man Star, quite safe to travel through in a reasonably fast ship. And bigger ships like BCs take aaaaages to target small ships like frigates, unless they're loaded with modules etc to increase locking speed. I've maxed targeting skills and would take 8.3 seconds to lock a Frigate in an unmodded Myrmidon.

A guy in an ibis isn't a rookie because he's in an ibis, and if you ignore specific ships based on who you would expect to be flying it you jjust create something that can be abused.
The difficulty of rats starting in .7 should be drastically beefed up. There's more then enough .8 and up systems for new players to mine in and learn the ropes.
The only thing that's "more difficult" in .7-.5 is CONCORD response time, and that's irrelevant when people fit properly. |

Most aren't held back by corporations like CONCORD either.. plus civilian targets are generally frowned upon, even in wars except by the cruelest and making FW apply to everyone would make multi-racial corps impossible as well as the concept of neutral parties to it. It would require a complete restructuring of the game. Even groups like Goons and TEST would have to be broken apart. |

Its a limited war, sort of like Vietnam, Korea and Afghanistan. Soviets and Americans were fairly blatantly supplying weapons to the other side, but not battling directly.
And you can still shoot highsec freighters if you really want to, and accept the consequences.

The suggestion is to be able to attack anyone of the opposing races. That's why it'd break it. Now if it was just being able to attack all the opposing NPC corps, there'd be some truth in what you said and yeah, it'd still be a bad idea, but that wasn't how he worded it really. Fact is with a solid PVE environment this game will attract 3 times as many players. And that is only a good thing in the long run.
You get things fantastically wrong in general. Allow me to submit a few thoughts for your consideration:
- EVE is not a game for everyone.
- EVE has a complete different audience to SW:TOR
- The growth profile for EVE, game design and game objective is completely different to EVE Online
- Saying "This apple isn't an orange" is a dumb thing to say. Why do you say it?
- Your suggestion goes against the core design of EVE.
- Your suggestion would destroy EVE, the MMO that has grown for the last 10 years.
Let's face it - a PvP game is not for everyone. Let's make that clearer. Even if you never intend to participate in ship to ship combat; you have agreed to do so by playing this game. It is a risk you take every-time you undock. Yet, some avoid the gatecamps, the battles and so forth and do their little industrial thing merrily while understanding that they are doing so in a dangerous environment.
The OPs problem can easily be solved by himself. We don't need CCP to throw resources at his idea because the game has the options for him to experience content similar to what he described. EVE Ambulation and Avatars as a separate game - see here |

If you increase the player base by 300% by pandering for a mindset that does not currently play EVE Online because the game is not designed for them; what will a smart business cater for in future? The original 100% or the new 300%?
P.S. 5 year skill queue? Everything has a cap. You can train for a role in a short span of time and be out there having fun and be very, very competitive. This is not a game with a "max level" or a GearScore of 8000 required to play. You can do fun things from the very beginning Mr "I have 12 years of experience in MMOs" EVE Ambulation and Avatars as a separate game - see here |

This thread started with a great idea that I hated; make highsec rats a lot meaner. As I started thinking about it and reading the other posts, esp Natetts, the idea makes a lot of sense.
Have .5 and .6 systems be full of really nasty rats, and not just in the belts; outside stations and gates, give them super heavy dictors and bubbles and put them between busy gates. Random bomber wings flying around and ships that show up as neutral PC's until they open fire.
These kind of rats would make highsec exciting in a way that is not one player beating another, they would encourage highsec players to develop strategies suitable for war time industrial ops. They would encourage hard core missioners to step out of the mission grind a bit and run escorts. And for anyone that doesn't want to deal with this added challenge there is plenty of opportunity in .7+
I think a lot of the reason that many Eve players do not embrace the challenge of PvP is not because they fear challenge, rather they hate the idea of being in a fight that they cannot win. And gankers get to choose when, where, and what to engage, they mess up sometimes, but for the most part the bears don't have a chance against those attacks. The random nature of npc attacks are not nearly so one sided just because the rats are terrible at making those kind of judgement calls. And so the bears could win a few fights.
Great idea, please make .5-.6 rats like null rats, and give them special powers to make up for their "singlemindedness"
This is a youtube playlist going over my first 30 ship losses. Video sucks but the audio came out well. There are some good lessons, and if you know the game there's some funny stories. |

First off, I take offense to you ignoring my requests and making me out to be noone. I will not be marginalized for having an unpopular opinion that EVE should have cats and be cute and easy.
Second, don't worry, after you've played Eve for a few more weeks (I'm going to assume you've actually bought the game, but you're likely still on your initial free-trial period, given that if you didn't buy it, you wouldn't be able to post here) you will realize that most of eve's players are less than 5 years old, and infact, nothing in the game requires a 5 year skill que to train for. To excel in any one aspect of the game, from brand new, would be AT LONGEST, 2 years, and I believe that is still grossly pushing it. (excel =/= 'all relevant skills for any possible module I might want to fit on the ship at 5'. excel = all skills pertaining to the ship and the weapons/mods you WILL use on it, trained to 4/5 depending on usefulness, and training time vs bonus.) |

I would honestly have no problem with bounties on rats in the lower sec systems in high sec if their difficulty was increased.
I don't think most people have a problem with things paying more, as long as the challenge is there to justify it. People would practically afk lvl 4's in high sec and make a load of ISK, that's the kind of situation that anyone with any sense would say, that's not right. At least in null and low just getting to the mission, or hunting those rats comes with an inherent level of risk that is just not present in high sec to justify higher rewards; even if the content isn't actually any harder itself to do.
If belt rats possed a real threat it would be justifiable to give them a much higher bounty pay out.
I've also always wondered something. I see NPC haulers all over the place in high sec. What happens if you shoot them? Does concord shoot you? Does the faction navy shoot you? Does it generate things like suspect flags?
I think PvE content that was geared towards "the pirate way of life" in high sec would be a nice addition as well. Being able to attack NPC supply convoys and get responces from other NPC's and players for the activity.
A lot of people are disagreeing with the OP, and I don't really understand why anyone would. He's not asking for easier, he's asking for harder and more interesting.
I have a hard time believing that anyone thinks that PvE content in EVE, overall, is something that more then a handfull of people actually think of as engaging and exciting content.
I love EVE, but lets be realistic. NO ONE ever came to EVE because they heard that it offered fun PvE. The wolves need sheep or they starve. While the wolves aren't starving in EVE, more sheep wouldn't be a bad thing, and if EVE's PvE was something to actually brag about there would be a lot more sheep.
In the grand reality of the video game universe, sheep sometimes have a habbit of turning into wolves, or just cannibalizing other sheep.
Believe it or not, good PvE content is the best thing for PvP. |

This got me thinking, and though these ideas aren't original, I will state them anyway.
It could be a good idea, if we introduced dynamic security status. Leave the FW zones alone, but take the rest of low sec, and put it into a group with all the high sec systems at 0.7 and below. So now this group of systems is a dynamic zone, where security can fluctuate between 0.1 and 0.7.
If bears run missions in a system, it's security status will increase gradually, so that it may eventually become high sec. We could make it so that all NPC pirate factions have incursions, and that the success of these incursions can make the sec fall from 0.7 down to 0.1, if bears don't fight them back.
So like how faction sov changes in the FW zones, we would have a dynamic area, where system security can flip up or down. Also, it would introduce more risk for those placing POSes down in high sec, which could be cool.
To ensure that people want to run missions in lower sec areas, significantly buff the rewards here, and nerf areas 0.8 and above.
Also, like how a player can enlist for a faction's militia, we could have players enlisting for either concord, or pirate factions. Maybe those enlisted for pirate factions are free to attack for everyone in 0.8 and above, but allowed to ninja loot without consequence in 0.7 and below. So this would provide more incentive for the pirates to push bears out of missioning in systems 0.5 to 0.7. |

How is it dumb from a storyline/ immersion perspective? Obviously that's incredibly subjective.
Because if there were a real war between say Caldari and Gallente, do you think it would be fought in lowsec? And without ANY involvement form the navies or other military?
Same with incursions. Concord, the navies and police forces would not tolerate incursions by Sansha and only stand by to let pod people fight it for them. In lowsec and nullsec, yep that may well happen, but in hisec? That is ridiculous and immersion/storyline breaking on a massive scale. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

It is what you make out of it. For me it means I get shot, I get webbed, I get sensor dampened by indestructable npc navy (they respawn indefinitely) - and then I still have to kill my war targets. Above 0.5 I also get so much incoming DPS from npc, its literally impossible to tank without links and multiple logi ships (over 900 dps per ship) - and its still easy mode, as there are people with -10.0 sec status in high sec, regularly pvping. CCP shouldn't make it more interesting, you should! |

Welcome to Eve Aiden. Lowsec is great fun, it makes the PVE content a lot more interesting. You wont be able to effectively fight there for a while (core skills and mostly t2 fittings on a frig you have trained to 4 or 5, effective over heating) But the first thing to learn there is evasion. No pilot in Eve can win every fight, the best pilots just avoid the ones that they can't win.
Learn the MWD/cloak trick, start missioning and scanning in low and plan on losing some ships. You will learn a lot about how the game works and how people think, which will help you in Eve more than almost any other skill. lowsec PI is also a lot better and that can be a good source of mostly passive income.
A corp like "brave newbies" would also be a great place to learn some things.
Anyway Gluck and feel free to convo me in game if you need some more free advice.

Actually, it's about becoming someone's ePeen stat. I'm new (just about a month of play time) and I've just been jumping around low sec just to see what's there...I really don't have much to lose but it's amazing to see these "PvPers" going out of their way to try and run down unfitted frigates or even shuttles when there's plenty of comparable targets in the region.
I've lost a few ships so far (I'm learning) and when I check the kill stats...that's what some do on the PvP side...simply engage the PvE focused side of the player base for easy kills. I don't even have 2 mil SP and I'll have 5 year players chasing me across the system and camping a station just to get me. I don't get it, especially when I see comments like the above. If High Sec wasn't there, I would have left already.
And you wonder why new people hang in High sec.
I'd like to see a ranking system in EVE for the PvPer's that rate strength of the killed target and show who is really PvPing and just ganking and have that in the sec status or as a title. |

Welcome to Eve Van. The players in lowsec who attack you are doing their best to be good Eve players. What the hell does that mean? Well, Eve PVE sucks, however one of the things that makes it interesting is the other players stealing your loot and trying to blow your ship up. Eve is about not making mistakes, because if you do another player is going to come along and take something from you.
Without those players who attack, and steal, and create consequence for mistakes the game is really only a pale shadow of what it can be.
So when you escape by the hair of your teeth and your hands are shaking and your heart is beating think how important it is that those pirate PvPers are there. And perhaps some good natured taunting is in order; sometimes I ask them directions or recommend Caldari made points (they hate that). Avoid smack talk or hate rants, but don't hesitate to interact a bit with the enemy. Part of the reason they try so hard to catch you now is because evasion is much easier than tackling. In a month or two, if you keep practicing, they will not be able to catch you very often.
So play Eve as you see fit, but do not expect or give quarter, the game depends on that.

A "PvPer" chases a frigate to a station. Camps it until either the player logs for a good amount of time, dies or someone with an equal or better ship chases them off.
What is the "thinking" of this player? It's fairly easy to recognize the new marks. ...and in most cases the new player either quits the game or dies and heads back and stays in high sec.
Its akin to killing all of the stocked fish before they are mature and then complaining when you're starving.

Lowsec/nellsec people generally what highsec life to diminish with the hope that players will leave higsec and venture to lowsec/highsec. However, for the players who play EVE primarily for the PvE content, making highsec a miserable experience, half those players will leave EVE, the other half might go find better PvE elsewhere in EVE. Problem is, PvE across EVE is boring. Its too scripted and generally too easy. Theres not much challenge.
At least Incursions gave some challenge. You cant do Vangards solo. You have to rely on others. That is great. That is a step in the right direction for PvE. I want CCP to further expand the Higsec PvE so there us more challenge to do it in highsec. |

The battle for Caldari Prime is exactly the type of stuff I want to see in highsec. More story driven NPC PvE PvP events.
From reading the reports on themitani.com it looks like the system is packed, players (over 350) outside waiting to get in, NPC capitals on field, and lots of fighting going on inside.
I only hope in the future that CCP expand these types of events over more systems to reduce the clutter. TiDi at 50% as reported bytemitanni could be less hindering on players if this event was done over more systems near by.
By the amount of players who have turned out to the event so far, it shows that players do want this type of content in highsec. CCP, thank you for making highsec less boring today. |

Limiting to 0.5,0.6,0.7 sec will create new routes and islands that could become interesting but low-sec should surely get the same treatment or more, just without concord involved.

Let highsec have whatever the hell it wants. It will only make highsec so terrible that people will go to other places in eve, or to a different game altogether. Been playing few months now. Missioning has been straight forward. Good way to make isk and familiarize myself with ship controls or fits. Would be nice to have random chance anomalies or engagements whilst jumping around perhaps. For instance your fighting during a mission and lets say a wormhole appears somewhere. Or maybe even engagements while warping? Not always. Just slight occasions. |

Hisec and Lowsec were made to have a differnce.

Some history from the 9mil player elephant in the roam.
2008.
Too many Scourge.
Too many Scourge that kills too many players.
Never seen again.
Moral? Players like killing rats because they're rats. When the rats have teeth and really bite back, players want it changed.
As folks can see with the incursions, devs can make some PvE content that's even harder than PvP. Not only harder, outright deadly.

I think you've missed the whole point of hi-sec, low-sec, and null-sec. High-sec is designed to be a low risk, low reward zone. If you want something different you need to graduate to low and null sec....
....except that you have to then deal with agonizingly lame hot-drop FUBAR-ness.
