Dude, you jettisoned your ore. If someone comes and takes it, it is perfectly legal. You jettisoned your ore. If anything CCP should make jetcans like cargo containers left after the destruction of NPCs. You cannot add anything to the container after jettison.

Why ? Miners risk ore to ore theifs because they want mine in jet can.
It is similair as with the scammers. Scammers dont have any risk except lose of reputation and the loss of stupid people in the game.
wow reread the post, its not risk to the miner, DUH, its the ore theif who risks nothing, obviously. They risk jack sh** and come away with ore, thats how it screws up RVW.
No risk = low reward.
Just like AFK mining in an indy.

I dont see what your getting at, the ore theif risks nothing and comes away with everything, you cant possibly be trying to justify this?
An AFK miner earns more than an ore thief, for lower risk. So your argument is BS. -- Proud member of the [23].

You have this backwards.
The miner risks next to nothing if he follows any of the much repeated common-sense advice, summed up by the phrase: don't jetcan mine in popular high-security systems.
The ore thief only comes away with 'everything' if he finds someone with a jetcan, otherwise he risks making no money, thus wasting his time. In a game as profit-oriented as EVE, this is a serious loss. Its not the ore thieves' fault that you make it easy for them by mining in popular 1.0 systems with jetcans.
Adjust your tactics, not the game.
------ I generally assume the following: 1. 95% of Empire Carebears don't get 0.0 PVPers. 2. 95% of 0.0 PVPers don't get Empire Carebears. 3. 100% of Ore Thieves steal just to upset the Miners. |

if you chose to even try and attack the ore thief concord responds so quick you can't takethem out with out useing a 100mil ship to do it then you lose theshiip makeing it evenmore stupid. takeing items out of a can droped bysomebody not in your gang should be considered an aggresive act that would allow other players to deal withthos attempting to steal from them. or atleast have concord deal with them. what kind of law enforcment kills the victim of a crime and not the one who comits the crime?
but like I said cpp doesn't care or they would fix this for players but of course if they cared they would do alot ofthings i guess.
Its not a crime cuz anything in Jetcan is trash, and trash doesnt have a owner.

Mining in a belt AFK in an indy has ZERO RISK and earns more than ore thieving. You don't even need to be at your computer.
QED?
It takes ages to fill indy an with one mining laser and only 5 seconds to nick a full jet can of ore so how is the indy earning more afk

Have you ever actually tried to ore thieve?
Ore thieving earns less than mining with a single laser. It takes ages to find a victim, and when you do, you get---ohnos---ONE LOAD. Its rare that you get any more before they grab their indy and run for it.
Thats about 400k per successful thieve, and you might get 1-2 an hour... whoopdy doo... -- Proud member of the [23].

If it takes so long to find a victim and even if they do the miner sometimes might get his indy before he can get it Then why is there so many compliants about ore thiefs mmmmmmm maybe because they are getting alot of peoples ore

So that would leave only a few people that are not idiots, and what do these idiots do ,they only mine the minerals for you to build ur ships,so without these idiots you would have to mine and then you would be vicyims of ore thiefs

Edited by: dadar on 01/08/2005 21:39:31 just to clue you in I mine in a 0.5 mostly but got ran outof there by thiefs went to new system to have new thief there new one was 0.5 as well moved to 0.8 was safe for while till today when yet another ore thief showed up and decided he would stay. normaly if they come take some I move to new belt or system.
but moveing your ship then moveing your hauler takes alot of time and pretty much getting to point ore thiefs are everywere.
so no I am not mineing in same spot and its not a 1.0 system
If secure cans could hold more ore I would gladly use them but with largest can only holding 3k ore and the anchoring restrictions make useing them big waste of time as your changeing ships every 5 to 10 mins.

Well, you made your choice. Instead of slower and safe mining, you chose faster and risky mining. Stop whining about what happens in consequence.

This is a damn Roleplaying game, Ore thiefs are just playing their role.. if you don't like it you can buy secure containers, or have corp mates instantly haul your **** back to station. if you don't like that you can try low-sec mining and kill the thiefs or have someone else do it. Whining about this is just as stupid as whine about piracy in 0.0
to answer your thing about the police.. say you rob someone downtown, take his wallet, he kills you for stealing his wallet.. the police are going to deal with him for that. same ****, different day

I love EVE because there are basically NO RULES as to what you can/can't do in terms of gaming style
The only things you cannot do is :
1. Consistently victimise a player (grief) beyond what would be expected in your day-to-day dealings with them 2. CHEAT by using exploits (i.e. hacking the client or using known bugs to get an advantage) 3. Discuss decisions made by GMs :) their word is law
So anything else goes - if you aren't smart enough to survive - well, that is your problem
If CCP and the GMs started to dictate what us players can and can't do then the player base would evaporate faster than u can say omgwtf eve is bbqpwnd
R3dSh1ft, I want the same thing as every other player in EVE; fame and fortune |

It's pretty much a non-issue.
Mining is like griefing yourself anyhow. People just think you like pain. On some level they are probably trying to be nice to you.
There are ways to get around your problem. Same goes for ninja looters. Deal.

Never heard of Ryctor the orethief ??? but atleast he stay's in a playercorp and you can war dec him if you get stolen from, most orethiefs I know of are in noobcorps to stay out of danger.
That is why orethief needs nerfing abit, as I have suggested before.
Only players in playercorps can open jetcans and missioncontainers... that way you "force" people out of noobcorps and into playercorps and you make it more risky being a orethief.

I started out as a carebear, and my home system (0.6) had an occasional ore thief problem. I anchored 18 GSCs in 3 belts, 6 in each, spread out in a flat arc following the belt at a 6km spacing. I then mined into the cans, moving along slowly in an Omen cruiser with 4 Miner IIs. I hauled the same way. I let friends use them.
Eventually (a month or two of weekend play) I had enough basics to build myself a Scorp and a couple of Blackbirds.
What was the point of all this?
Thanks to that INCREDIBLY tedious can positioning, I have never got an insta wrong. Not even my very first ones. This skill, when applied in a POS management corp, made me a substantial amount of money. It also means I am pretty good at positioning warp bubbles, to quite a few people's cost.
"Wax on, wax off..."
It's amazing what you can learn with a bit of extra 'pointless' effort. An extra couple of days' work, or a couple of days of ore stolen, take your pick.

get out of high traffic systems and you'll never see an Ore thief. Why poeple still think it's smart to mine in yulai/pator/niya is beyond me. There are TONS of high sec systems that are practically empty.
If you're so lazy that you can't move a couple jumps off the beaten path then you deserve to be tub dipped.

I`d love to see something like this in EVE. I think noob corps should be for noobs only rather than vendetta evasion corps for enyone else..
Agression Act -> Move to 1man corp with your name or just special wardecable NPC corp
However, I dont know how to do this with ore theifs and scammers without too much effort drom devs.
