Not really too much in the interview. But if your like me I enjoy hearing about EVE.
Talks about how long they plan on keeping EVE alive. And what stage they are on with EVE 2 Nice little read overall.

"Gamecloud - In the fall of 2004 you launched a major new free expansion for the game. What has been the reaction to the expansion so far?
Nathan Richardson - Excellent! However, it didnĘt turn out exactly as we wanted it to (..) We wanted more people in the outer regions, but instead have more people inside Empire."

Eve 2 based on the same universe would be quite impressive, imagine the possibilities just from EVE 1 to influence how it would shape.
Imagine the eventual development of player factions, groups of alliances with the power to declare war on Empire factions, eventually taking over parts of empire on their own. Now imagine EVE 2 starting with entirely different factions based on thousands of years of rule by the factions which are dominant when EVE goes down eventually.
That would be a truly incredible game experience, to see not only the game itself, but to have even the pre-game backstory player-crafted. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the oth |

You know that the top end Pentium 4s run at such high speeds that they basically burn up?
You know that 10Ghz with current architechtures (Netburst, which Intel has trashed) would require phase change cooling at -150C?
You know that Intel has trashed its Netburst architecture and is using the Pentium-M Dothan core for its future chips, which runs at only 2-3Ghz, yet easily beats the Pentium 4s in benchmarks by wide margins?
The future is not in drastically higher megahertz, but in higher performance per clock. -- Proud member of the [23].

Sounds great,
And I dont want to be pessimistic but.....
Even if it takes 7 years to get EVE how they want it, then decide to release EVE2..
What will happen to EVE and just as importanlty, our potentially 9 year old chars then ?
I dont think any of us will be happy to ditch a 9 year investment and lose our chars. If we do CCP really will get an Exodus i think.
I read the bit where it said, "Use the same Universe" which suggests we will have the same chars as well.
But then you will have new blood competing with 9 year old chars with a gazillion skill points.
Thats taking for granted that the same people will still be playing in 7 years time of course.
Sounds like that might be a toughy.

Hmmmm indeed it will be hard to let go. But us Veterans got used to that in Beta, when the servers would get wiped every now and then . It has definately got to be started from scratch and personally I would like to see a larger number of star systems and perhaps a completely different map. A bit like colonisation of a new part of the galaxy, with some new toys to play with too.
It seems to me though, that in seven years time the technology will be an order of magnitude more advanced (if not the client ) so much more will be possible but with that much more code will need to be written. So, all in all, it would be understandable if they didn't start over but just continued to mod the current setup.
