Topic says it all... I feel, apart from the Maller and Apoc, Amarr don't quite seem up to par with all the recent nerfs, balance etc...
Just my 2c... Not a whine.
I don't think the inty is very good, nor the assault frig... yet to try the BC... I hear it's good though.

Both Amarr BS are great, and both have their roles. Apoc tanks like nothing else now with the plate buff, and Arma still does excellent damage but it can't tank quite as well.
Inties are bit more difficult to say, escpecially with the silly oversized plate inties flying around. They're still good, but how good compared to others now, I don't know. I love my Crusader but I haven't PVP'd in it since the plate changes, so I'm not sure about it atm. The Malediction got a bit of a slap because of the launcher changes, but I've worked around them and it still excels at tackling and teamwork.
The Amarr AF's have always been a bit wonky, but if you look at them carefull I'm sure you'll find a good use for them. I love my Retribution, even though its a single med slot, slow, lumbering ship.
I generally don't fly cruisers, so can't say anything there.

Actualy Amarr sucks. So what if your ship is a bit better at tanking than other. That won't save you vs 2-3 other ships that shots you. And with the new lenses damage changes. By making your lasers 25% more effective vs shields but -300% vs armor is just lame. From 450 dmg wrekings I done with T1 Tachys into armor now I do 150 dmg. Not to mention lasers are the worst weapons against T2 ships.
As a comparation:
On armors (since 80% of the time ships base on armor as their last defence line) the rezistances are the follow:
EM - Thermal Amarr lasers vs:Minmatar 92.5%-67.5% Caldari 60%-86.25% Gallente 60 - 67.5%
Kinetic-Thermal Gallente hybrids vs: Minmatar 25%-67.5% Caldari 62.5% - 86.25% Amarr 62.5% - 35% _________________________________

Amarr in short = Lots of turrets that don't require much in the way of Ammo, Power Grid, Armor and Capacitor.
What they are not: is lots of M slots ,CPU & lots of missles.
They have some important uses: ggedons are great anti-shield dmg dealers ( usefull vs raven and scorp). APOCs are great armour tanks and support ships(rig a load of cap mods + cap/sheild transfers and see what I mean). They do fairly well at long range gunnery although I think the tempest has an edge in this role given the ROF and DMG bonuses which more than makes up for its 6 slots. Not too mention Minny pilots are benefiting hugely from the flood of maccies pouring out the lower regions.

Wait...
...All other races can easily fit a full rack of their best guns.
Megathron easily fits 7 425 II's Tempest fits 6 1400 II's with just a power diag, or nothing with advanced weapon upgrades 5. Apoc can't fit a full rack of Tachyon II's without multiple T2 reactor controls.
Lasers also use up a fkload more cap (and the amarr ships slightly larger cap does not make up for this).
Atm, in my opinion, the only issue is that projectiles are overpowered.... Yes, their DPS may be equal, but it doesn't take account for things such as (most importantly) projectiles do all damage types, and their longer range. --------

Well, I think Mega Beams are supposed to be the closest comparitive turret to 425s/1400s. I know I can fit a full rack of them on an Arma with just a RCU2. Haven't tried an Apoc though yet.

For tempest and 1400II you need a RCU II, or decent levels of advanced upgrades
other thing is that tachs are an extra class of guns
and just search forums for this issue, this gets discussed every month and I cant explain the balancing in eve for you all the time.

Ohh, so many mistakes:
Projectiles do about 20% less DPS, not equal Matari ships have fewer turret hardpoints Projectiles have increadible tracking issues. I cant hit ceptors at 100km, with 3 tracking CPUs. Projectiles have lowest base range, just their falloff is high, and that causes more tracking issues again...

Thing is a full rack for an Apoc is 8, mega is 7 and tempest 6. If it was so easy to fit a full rack of t2 tachs then the other guys would complain about not having 8 turret points.
Also, tempests do have the longest range in terms of being able to hit things, however megas have a higher optimal and lower falloff which gives it better hits at long range. ----------------------------------------- wts all new "burberry" warp core stab II's |

Amarr battleships are way overpowered. You can fit Projectiles on an apoc and run neck and neck with a tempest in dps but with a big advantage in volley damage.

Not quite, an Apoc doesn't get the RoF or Dmg bonus that a Tempest does, so 6*1.25*1.25 = 9.38 effective weapons when you compare it to an Apoc carrying 8, excluding any dmg mod modules ofcourse. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Apoc w/ 1400s outdamages a tempest w/ 1400s and BS 4. Tempest needs BS 5 to beat it, and apoc still has much higher volley damage with 8 guns.

In my defence, I did say without dmg mods.
Originally by: Nafri thats where the difference is, tempest has 5 damage mods, apoc 1 more when it fits a RCU
True, but I'm not sure if the fitting penalty for a 6th one would make that big of a difference, but yes it would even things up a lot better, DoT would be about the same which makes a mockery of the bonuses that a Tempest gets.
Originally by: DrunkenOne Apoc w/ 1400s outdamages a tempest w/ 1400s and BS 4. Tempest needs BS 5 to beat it, and apoc still has much higher volley damage with 8 guns.
I was assuming lvl 5 Min BS, yes, with lvl 4 it just makes it even sicker that an apoc can out gun a ship specially designed (bonuses) for a weapon type. I think it would be even sicker if we compared a Megathron that only gets the damage bonus and 425s.
And without a doubt, a volley of 8 1400s can cause some serious pain.
Yes, after thinking about what you both say here, I have to agree with:

25% more dammage per gun and 25% rof
so 6 guns whit 25 rof and Dammge pretty much out dammge the 8 guns
so lets say to make it easy the apocs 1400 do 4 dammage every 10 sec whit 8 guns is 32 dammage evyr 10 sec Tempest pilots then gets 25% rof and dammage so he does 5 dammage whit 6 guns in 7.5 sec thus 30 dammage every 7.5 sec and after 4 apoc volley the temepst are going to hit for its 5 times 4*32=128 5*30=150
also to mention when a tempest pilot get a wrecking its gonna be so much more then the apoc its stunning
i just used some easy numbers to make the math alot easier.
and not to mention the tempest still have 2 high slots more for missile or what u wants...
and to the dammage mods... the tempest pilot have so much more basic stats so he will also gain more per dammage mod the % he gains is from a much higer moddifer and he same whit the rof

Speaking personally I think the crusader is one of the best inties in the game, just needs a little less standard approach to fitting to make it a powerful killing machine.
Amarr aren't overpowered any more than any other race now, it's just different and needs to be fitted and used differntly like any other ship.

Amarr dreadnought is ship of choice of Eris Discordia.
Do you really need a better proof for superiority of Amarr ships? ^^

It's part of our training, if we can handle the smell of our ships we can handle the smell of stuck up Amarr and their ridiculous Pax booky.

Amarr battleships are way overpowered. You can fit Projectiles on an apoc and run neck and neck with a tempest in dps but with a big advantage in volley damage.
Acctually the dps of a Tempest (5, TŠ all the way) is a bit higher but how cares about DPS anyway when you are talking about ROF >8 seconds.
An Apoc with with 1400 TŠ rips trough an untanked BS in 3 Volleys (around 22 to 23 seconds) while and Tempest needs 4 Volleys (24-25 seconds).
But of course you still have more midslots and two highs left when using a Tempest.
It's a good choice when you don't have Tempest 5 but can you use TŠ 1400er for fleetbattles. So like... hardly ever. :)
Ain't it great posting off topic?
PS: the balance overall is pretty much the best it ever was.

Edited by: Meridius on 27/08/2005 02:42:06 I'm a fairly happy Amarri
That said, there are a lot of Amarri ships that are indeed crap. I don't want to get into that in here tho so whatever. ________________________________________________________

Amarr have some of the best ships in the game. So much so that I routinely fit mine with *railguns*, there's so much leftover powergrid. And plenty of low slots, too, so they tank like an Armadillo.
When you see an Amarr BS ignoring three "rats" in 0.0 space simply by turning on two armor repairers, you suddenly see them in a new light.(equiv to getting 3 BS drones at once). We're talking about 0 effective damage to armor for hours at a time while mining with 7-8 miner IIs.(one man personal mining fleet)

I agree on the balance issue. As far as I'm concerned we have the best balance ever.
Every race out there has ships that are great, and others that are rarely used. For Minmatar Frigates, the Rifter and Vigil are still used widely. The Slasher.....only for making Intys, and when's the last time you felt threatened by a Bellicose cruiser? Meanwhile Stabbers and Ruptures still make many large ship pilots cringe.
We all have good and bad.

Nope its just you. Amarr have some fine fine ships if you fit em up right, very flexiable and if I was starting from scratch I would prolly specialise in min/amarr instead of gal/cal.

Dampers are nearly as effective, with my celestis I reduced an omens lock range to around 5km.
Bah dampers. Just give me disruptors for missiles and I'll be a happy Eve-ite.

Originally by: Ramuh Using amarr bs is a good idea. Fighting me is not. It wouldn't have mattered what ship you were in, you would have died anyway in those circumstances.
This was not in reaction to our fight, and you seem to forget a few days ago when you almost went pop.
Originally by: Shin Ra Thing is a full rack for an Apoc is 8, mega is 7 and tempest 6. If it was so easy to fit a full rack of t2 tachs then the other guys would complain about not having 8 turret points.
Also, tempests do have the longest range in terms of being able to hit things, however megas have a higher optimal and lower falloff which gives it better hits at long range.
If you fit a full rack on a apoc or geddon and kit it out with dmg mods, you will be poped in a seconds if you screw up.
Theres no room for anything else.
I never almost went pop. I had the situation totally under control. I killed all of u guys, got all your loot etc. Both times. Me>u.

Yeah... except the gallente... they acctauly havent whined that much for the past couple of years (except about drones, which acctauly do need some love purely cos there so stupid). Just waited for everything else to get nerfed down to their level.
