I hope this counts as legitimate speculation from the PAX EAST announcement, but:
Quote:Today, Monday March 25th, CCP Games is delighted to announce the 19th free expansion to EVE Online, titled EVE Online: Odyssey. This expansion is planned for release on June 4, 2013. Odyssey will greatly expand the opportunities for players to explore all corners of the massive EVE Universe and its 7,929 solar systems.
To me, all corners means everywhere, and to get 7,929 means that 'everywhere' has to include Jove space.

So the Jove finally thought "Enough!", hopped into a fleet of their motherships and wormholed to another cluster. Now Jove space is infested with Sansha, looting for leftovers and stage incursions into the rest of known space.
Now with Odyssey Capsuleers can go into Jove space to squabble with the Sansha over Jove garbage. Mining Overhaul Nothing changed since 2008. |

Or perhaps they have all "supposedly" died of Jove Syndrome and their space is now ripe for the pickings. Advanced technology laying around all over the place as their civilization went terminal and collapsed in a relatively short period of time.
Of course, it's only a test (or trap, depending on your point of view). To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I'm thinking a section of space, that possibly is only accessable via a few bottlenecks, with amazing loot you get through some unique missions or exploration sites, but then is only really valuable when sold back in highsec would make for some incredible adventures.
Imagine if it was a nullsec space that couldn't really be jump bridged to, or really could only get BLOPs after people put up extremely risky moon investments.
It would just be a huge and valuable NPC nullsec. |

Realistically if it ever opens up (and I doubt it ever will), it'll be claimed by one of the blue naptrains and farmed for any new items there that can be turned into a cartel. (or rented out to a pet alliance if the space turns out to be as bad as providence etc).

Excellent catch.
Unfortunately, I'm going to be relegating this to the "CCP typos and oversights" category, where at some point in the future, some dev will make a comment saying "That is simply the total number of systems, used for the effect of awe, we never even implied that you would be able to visit all of them." |

I really don't think it would be possible to enforce a cartel if for example all of Jove space had a set of new wormhole relationships that wondered around it, and you couldn't set up sov in it.
It would be really difficult to get capitals in, and really risky if you did. The place would potentially be defended kind of like C5s, but have the local and content of nullsec NPC space.
I just really want faction modules from a Jove LP store. |

I would hope if CCP ever did open up Jove space than it would be some conditions:
1 - The entrance to Jove space much harder to scan down than a wormhole. 2 - Very small mass allowed to go thru said entrance before it closes, a couple dozen ships max (no capitals) 3 - Entrance only stays active for a hour then closes. 4 - A one way trip, have to scan another entrance back to regular space. 5 - NO SOV Allowed 6 - NO Local 7 - NO POSes Allowed 8 - Jove rats (combo Sansha & Sleeper AI plus)
9 - Here's the kicker, Entrances to Jove space only found in low or null sec.
Jove space would have to make it extremely hard for someone to live there for any length of time.

Lmfao. So what you're asking for, is wormhole space, with tighter mass limits, and no control towers. Do you have ANY clue how moronic this is? |

Just make sure that there are no bounties and all loot is 100m3 or larger.

If they did open up Jove space: here's an idea to prevent the nearest coalition from just taking over and ruining the experience for the rest of us: Maintain the lack of stargates to the outside, so while you can jump between the systems in Jove space, access to the outside is limited. The access they should get should be through wormholes. To maintain some level of danger, I suggest only C5 and C6 connect (or at least those are the only systems that should have Jove statics) so you have to make multiple jumps to get there from highsec (HS to low level WH to a higher level WH to jove space). Note this also means null is still closer to Jove space since they get more links to high level Wormholes, but ALL null is closer rather than just the Sov blocks that are physically nearby.
If this leads to jove ships, the skills should have to be reverse engineered or otherwise acquired at high cost, and the ships themselves should be on the level of faction ships in cost and abilities (I know everyone always goes on about the superiority of Jove tech, but it's been a while since any of their ships were seen in open combat [and I do NOT count dev ships because dev ships cheat] and we have recovered quite a bit of tech since then that might reduce the power gap; we do routinely blow up Sleepers and take their tech. Aside from that, their superiority over the Amarr once upon a time was just as much due to military intelligence and the Amarr's own hubris as it was the Jove's actual military power) |

Jove space is going to be part of the next expansion, and it will blow your mind.
Jovians, who were behind traditional capsuleer technology, have gone a step further and developed a new technology that prevents you from utilizing your medical clone. Meaning, if you get podded in a Jovian system, you're pretty much biomass. Game over.
However, all the tech moons are about to dry up, and the only new ones are available in Jovian space.
So, roll a cheap alt, move it next to Jovian space, and PREPARE FOR EPIC TEARS! |

Tears will come from the four year old character who thought he'd slip into Jove space and then lost every_single_minute of previous training.
