Idea
Problem:Exclamation
People can steal any form of cargo that is within your reach and you cant do a damn thing about it.

Because if you fire up on them concord/local cops will kick your ass and your sec would go down.

Solution:Exclamation

Grant ownership to cargoÆsIdea

1)Arrow your own jettison cargo gets instant ownership, only while you are present or a corp or gang member is.

2)Arrowyour ownership will be lost of cargo if you leave the area, it will be FFA.

3) Arrowownership can be obtained by staying by the cargo at the 1.5km range for X time.

4) Arrowanyone can open these cargoÆs but the person who opens automatically becomes a threat to you and you can open fire up on them, only when they open the cargo, and you (gang, corp) can hunt them down for say 15min, just like the cops will track ppl etc.

5) Arrowbecause there would be ownership, CCP can limit the amount of cargoÆs that are being jettisoned, this value can be done with a skill, and with the type of ship. Say each ship has X amount of cargoÆs that can jettison and can create new one after X time.

6) Arrowa skill, and ship type should grant you X amount of ownership you can have over cargoÆs, other cargoÆs will just be FFA.

Secure cargoÆs are not the subject here nor are they the solution to the normal cargo problem, they serve a different purpose which will not allow anyone to take out anything and have more strength.

It is about time that this game fixes some of the problems, and yes this cargo issue is a balancing issue because at the current time you canÆt defend or retaliate against someone who has opened a cargo that you are near at.

There is nothing to fix.

Use the secure containers or stop complaining

ehehehe!

How about you just use a secure container, as the game mechanics intended, and cease demanding immediate solutions to such non-problems?

As most in this thread say, there is no problem to fix. When you jettison something you forgo you right to it and it becomes FFA.

The secure containers tough are a regular joke, their volume is downright stupid compared to that of a jettisoned can, but since you can carry secure containers in your hold, thusly making them act like extra cargoexpansion, I must say I am glad they did not make secure cans with 27,000 m3.

Mining is a major chore now, and I am thinking about just do NPC killing for the bounty.

thats like saying you have something that is out doors and just because it is for the taking doesnt mean it does not belong to someone... and doesnt mean it doesnt count a stealing and doesnt mean that the cops wont come after you...

see this game is backwords right now... and though its not a problem to me now, but in the noob days and in secure space it was a problem and i feel for those ppl who have this problem.

No, I think you need to re-examine something:

Eve is a game that allows Bad Things to happen to Good People.

Read that statement very very carefully. Absorb the hidden blatant meaning inherent in it. Pound it into your skull if necessary.

"Mining is a major chore now"

Mining's always been a major chore in ol' Jack's opinion. Shocked

But it's no different now than ever it was. You can still mine using the unlimited cargo space that jettisoned cans offer .. you just don't have a leg to stand on when someone robs you blind and you start whining about it.

Container mining is still the most lucrative way to mine .. it just has that added element of risk, ehehehe!

Dude, use the secures. If you have more than an indy's worth at a time, you are having to leave the belt and are technically abandoning it, like you would a drone, and you would lose posession anyway.

There's no reason to take more than an indy's worth at a time. Thats quite a lot anyway, with a decent indy. If you wish to go beyond a sensible limit, there should be risks. As in all things.
