Makes you wonder what a galente dread using 35 harvesters and 3 modulated deep core miner II would do. The drones alone would get you like 1300 ore per minute at max skills. Then add three mining turrets, on par with a maxed barge i would guess. TO bad these behemoths dont have the cpu to fir strip miners, otherwise they would get quite commen as afk miners in high sec space, lol.

Only 'sensible' mining dreadnaught is the galente one, which has 7 low slots and 750 base cpu. You need 7 estamel CPU (nets in game), to get even close to 3000 cpu. And then you still wont be able to fit one, or if you do, you cant fit anything else.
I was shocked as well to learn dreads are not that better of CPU wise then the average battleship!

nope. you need at LEAST 6000 CPU to make it worthwhile.. while with CPUs all over the lowslots... you might get ONE on :( it would be POINTLESS! because 4-5 Miner 2s to a better job!

I can confirm first hand you can jump into .4's. However there is a rounding error with some .4 systems and you cant active the cynosoral field in them. |

In case you haven't noticed, YOU CAN'T FIT 4 TO 5 MINER 2S ON A DREAD! Because it only has 3 HIGH SLOTS! So YOUR argument is POINTLESS! And so is the way you use CAPS all the damn TIME!
Oh and by the way, I'll be killing the first miner dread I see in 0.0 with a muninn. To my future victims; Good luck explaining to your corp CEO where his ship went.

You know.... some time ago, i took a Ferox out mining, and up till i read this thread i felt dirty. The ship's supposed to make other ships die, not asteroids. Compared to the sin of using a FREAKING DREADNOUGHT to mine though, mining in a Ferox isnt so bad....

Another thing my earless.. uhmm I mean hairless friend, that a med barge which is a more skill intensive ship than the Apoc, mines less than the apoc and doesnt have even half the defensive capabilities of it. So I put my vote, if I ever have one, on dedicated mining hardpoints just like missile hardpoints to end this madness once and for all.
Since you guys are gonna have a deep look into the code and probably rewrite some parts of it with Kali, I think its worth having a looking at this matter.

these pics made me laugh like crazy! the dreads will be perfect for 0.0 mining ops especially the moros, all you have to do is pull back the mining drones and get the heayies out and man 35 t2 heavies is going to hurt ALOT. and they have a tank big enough to tank a bigger spawn so there won't be any problems doing that hurray for the new 0.0 barges!

There is one more reason why the Moros is the perfect 0.0 mining tool: Hauling ore to the refinery.
With giant cans your cargo capacity could be close to 40,000 m^3. And you have a jump drive. The old problem of having to run 10 jumps to the nearest refinery isn't an issue any more.
Have a POS to refuel but the bad guys are in the way? not any more. Equivalent to ~2 Iteron Mk5s and so much faster.
Oh yes, the Moros is a mining and hauling beast.
and the best part? doing carebear stuff with a dread really gets some folks wound up tight.
In fact the only thing better would be running agent missions with one...

In case you haven't noticed, YOU CAN'T FIT 4 TO 5 MINER 2S ON A DREAD! Because it only has 3 HIGH SLOTS! So YOUR argument is POINTLESS!
Both the Revelation and Moros can get 3000 cpu+, so are able to fit an Ice miner, or strip miner. Strip miners dont require a turret slot I beleive, so you could use 3x miner II (or dcm II) + 1x Strip miner in the 'utility slot' or what ever you call those non turret/luancher slots.
Now if only i could get this covert op cloak to squeeze on......
