I am curious what your screen names mean & how or why etcà you came up with your name.
This game seems to have names that are varied and hard to guess how you came up with them. Unlike for example CoH that might have a name like Mind Shocker (A Mind Controller with Electric type powers), you can have a good guess how they came up with that name, not to say they arenÆt fun.
My name Magnum is just easy to remember I figure and a solid name that at least does not sound wimpy or anything.
So I guess I went for simple.
So IÆm asking, what about your screen name?
Don't Nerf Realistic Working Weapons & Modules, Invent new Stuff & ways to counter measure. This is more fun. |

Edited by: Pilot Z on 20/09/2005 22:55:12 I had to come up with a nickname for Yahoo! chat many many many years ago (ok, maybe a little exaggerated ) in like 30 seconds. As my friend's nick was Hercules_X at the time, I came up with Pilot_Z. I wanted to be an airline pilot, so it figures I guess (well on my way on realizing that dream atm). Since then I'm stuck with that nickname.

Synopsis: Two human cops track down a ruthless alien fugitive who forcibly overdoses his victims with ****** in order to siphon off the endorphins it produces in the human brain, an illegal narcotic on his own planet.
Thats the basics of the movie and Dolph Lundgren is in it.

Lazarus Tag'lim

[31]
Lazarus Long is one of my favorite science fiction characters (from the novels of Robert Anson Heinlein). The problem is that "Lazarus Long" is fairly common... so it's a first-come, first-serve... you might be able to get it if you start the first week of the game.
I came up with the last name when I joined SWG... I was looking through some Star Wars RPG naming guides, which had a few different styles of character mutatations for creating names. Neither of my names really came out well (Nohj from John is kind of bland). There was a MagLight on my desk at the time... I tried it, "taglighm", removed the unnecessary characters, "taglim", and added the Twi'lek break, "Lazarus Tag'lim". Unique enough that I can generally use it anywhere that allows apostrophe's.
Then came Lysander Tag'lim (from Lysander Spooner, a 19th century American philosopher, lawyer, and abolitionist), and Latimer Tag'lim (who never sees the light of day).

Named after a bizarre cartoon from when I was a kid. If you watched Pulp Fiction, it was the show on TV when young Butch got his dad's watch. The faces were static but the lips were real moving human lips. I figured the name was a good fit for an industry character.

Edited by: CargoCult on 21/09/2005 10:37:39 Mine is.... obsucre
A cargo cult is any of a group of religious movements that occurred in Melanesia, in the Southwestern Pacific. The Cargo Cults believed that manufactured western goods ('cargo') were created by ancestral spirits and intended for Melanesian people. White people, however, had unfairly gained control of these objects. Cargo cults thus focused on purifying their communities of what they perceived as 'white' influences by conducting rituals similar to the white behavior they had observed, presuming that this activity would make cargo come. The most famous examples of this behavior are airstrips, airports, and radios made out of coconuts, straw, and other jungle materials that were built in the belief that transport planes full of cargo would land on them if they were built. Today, most historians and anthropologists argue that the term 'Cargo Cult' is a misnomer that describes a variety of phenomena. However, the idea has captured the imagination of many people in the First World, and the term continues to be used today.
And why for this char? - well it was a hauler (orginally)

sam da emperor became samperor, think i checked on google and found somebody had once used it, so made it "leet" to make sure no one used this version.
I almost always use [*DRUNK*]GRAVEFILLER for FPS¦s (CS, CS:S, OP4 back in the day, some Quake), but this name is too long for eve. I used [DRUNK]_GRAVE in Diablo but that would show up weird in Eve, besides i don¦t think brackets were possible at the time i created this char (or are possible still).
My other char is named : Ajax Victorious because I¦m a hardcore Ajax fan, the other char is called Mr ****yPants cus i wanted to use a somewhat funny name to spam local with and thought it would be fun to see corpses flying around space named Mr ****ypants.
Crazy enuf, some guy from a corp transferred 100M isk to me after a month of creation, because his corpmate "mr ****IEpants" had requested the funds. Gave back the money. Now and again my alt and mr ****IE cross paths and i always laugh. Think at some point mr ****IE even got a kill on my alt in TPAR-G :D
EDIT : OMG p00p is censured still :S

The name itself comes from an old cristian metal rock band :) (they where pretty good too) I first used it playing "Pirates!" on the Amiga 500 in my young days... And its been there since then thru all MMORPG i played, Anarchy Online, DAOC, SWG, Neocron, WoW, and now EvE...
In EvE I named my first character "Bloodgood", and wasnt happy about the characters skills after some playing so i did a new one, naming him "Blood good" since i couldnt delete "Bloodgood" at once(there was some kind of deletion timer).

Edited by: Pistonbroke on 21/09/2005 12:21:35 A Biker friend of mine had a lapel badge on that said "the pistonbroke club" over a pair of crossed, broken pistons. I took one look and laughed, "ha-ha pistonbroke,- ****ed and broke, very good" - he looked gobsmacked - "I never realised!" he said.
From that day on Ive used pistonbroke for emails, game names etc... I like it especially as a lot of people just don't get it.
as an aside and especially for the Non-English-as-a-first-language players, the dual nature also appeals to me: ****ed = drunk in the UK and angry in the US. Broke universally means having no money. . . OMG they nerfed ****ed

I have a weekly tabletop gaming group, and we change games relatively frequently. After literally years of begging, the rest of the group conceded to play Traveller, a space travel RPG. My character came through chargen REALLY well, and ended up as a Lt. Colonel. I named him Nemesio Torres. The group decided to play more generic fantasy after only a few sessions of Traveller, much to my disappointment. So when I had the opportunity to play a sci-fi rpg again, I used the same name. --- My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. |

I've used Trinity as my online nick for the last 7 years. When my friends turned me on to EVE, they said that some people prefer two names. So I asked her what a good second name would be and she said Trixx. Worked for me as it makes naming my ships very fun: Majik Trixx, Dominatrixx, pHat Trixx, Trixxster, Cheap Trixx, Trixx of the Trade, etc. --

D'Hoffryn is a character from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. If I remember correctly D'H was "born" on one of those hungover sunday mornings. My girlfriend was sitting in the living room watching old buffy episodes and I had wandered off to see what this eve thing was all about. I needed inspiration for a name and there it was.
In true mmorpg style I managed to mis-spell the name.

My name comes from a film that I can guarantee no-one has seen... because it's currently sitting in the production queue for my edit-suite (and has been for about a year now). Uncle Angus is a crazy old Scottish guy who is hanging out with a couple of pals when his niece arrives from America; unfortunately for them she's unwittingly brought the cause of a zombie outbreak with her... the film is Monday Morning Zombies and it's the sequel to the much-loved (hmm) Sunday Night Zombies.

Iasus is the name of the elderly Voidhawk that dies at the beginning of Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy. I was looking for something that sounded learnÚd and noble, and 'Iasus', with its clearly Latin root fits perfectly. Unfortunatly, most EVE players who haven't ever studied Latin fail to appreciate that 'I' followed by a vowel is pronounced like a 'Y' Hence I am always called 'Eye-ah-sus' not 'Yah-sus' as it should be. ..... .....I had to point this out to my previous corpies on ts all the time...... Mine's a bastardization of the the word stalwart. I meant to give him a French last name, but forgot to do so. So now I'm one of those people with single names. Soon, I shall be known as "The Pilot Formerly Known as Stalward".
stalÀwart ( P ) Pronunciation Key (st¶l'w?rt)
adj. 1. Having or marked by imposing physical strength. 2. Firm and resolute; stout.
n. 1. One who is physically and morally strong. 2. One who steadfastly supports an organization or cause: party stalwarts.

Ever play the first ninja gaiden? The one where Ryu's dad loses the duel in the intro screen?
The guy that kills Ryu's dad is named Malth... or atleast Bloody Malth claims to be the one who killed him. Zenobia I made up, then about 2 years later found it being used in the Ogre Battle game for SNES, so I changed it to Xenobia, which got used in the Lunar games... >(
I came up with the name in like, 91 or 92 because I needed a name to use when I played D&D, keep in mind I was like 9 or 10 at the time, so the reasons for the name were cool to me.
So yeah, evil ninja gaiden badass + random = my name.
