It doesn't say what it does per level trained (unlike Missile skill). Anyone know if it actually does do anything 'extra' at lvl 2 and up?

You might possibly be the only person to train it higher than level 1...seriously.

No, I have it at lvl 1, that's why I want to know if it actually does do something at lvl 2 before I train it ;)

Why even train it to level 1?

Civire Mercenaries start with it.
But yes, rockets suck. Can't hit a damn thing, even at point blank ranges, when both targets are stationary.
I tried webifying an NPC at 2km, and stopped my Moa. Missed him 4/5 shots. Ridiculous.

rockets are good fun :)
i trained mine to 2 by mistake at the start of the game :(
but stick 10 rockets into 4 a-3's on a kestrel and just watch them all fly :) its quite a luagh
a rocket launcher is even funnier as the rockets fire so quickly they usually blow each other up LOL!
rockets are a cheap extra source of dmg in a frigate if you cant afford to make standards or heavies... but otherwise useless for serious combat

I've heard of people using them for defender missile bait, but I'd rather use light missiles in case the defender missile misses.

Why train rockets?
* they are cheap * I miss perhaps one in four shots * I have a missile launcher hard point * they are close combat, I like close combat (frig player)
* and above else, I think they are fun to use
Some people do play for the fun of the game...

I happened to be a Frigate Specialist as well.. having lv 4 in all frigate skills, and lemme say.... Rockets aren't worth it. Get standard missles much better. I myself... ::smirks:: gimme an m-12 with 2 cruise missles in my frigate. eh eh eh eh

i used to use them a lot in close-range pvp when i had MOA - if you orbit some1 at less than 1 km, you dont want to be using anything else.

I use em for close combat when they get too close to my stabber and I actually hit em! So for me they are useful. with my 250 mm railing guns while I mine I keep the rats away but sometimes they get too close so thats when I can use em. Plus my targeting skills pretty good (if it has anything to do with that).

A kestrel with 4 rocket launchers on autofire, deals 360 damage in about 2 seconds. then its 10 sec reload time. 3 of these ships equpped cost maybe 200k, and would take a cruiser out; as long as you suprised attacked it from 5km range or less and locked it from fleeing -------

Well, I think consensus has it that it does nothing beyond lvl 1.

i think 10% extra damage per level would be nice.... if a rocket did 60 to 70 damage a shot and didnt explode on its own constantly, it would be a mean weapon when a kestrel uses it. Missile Launcher Operations takes almost a week to train. Some people don't have that kind of patience.

Yes. Not surprisingly, Tech Level II rockets take Rockets skill level 2. I believe that as rockets go up in tech levels, they get faster, but not much more damaging.

It's only rank 5... Less than 2 hours. Of course, you may want Cruise Missiles V to get some speed out of them...

Hee.. yeah, got it already ;s

... But i thought the Cruise Missiles skill is supposed to increase the damage, and is bugged anyway?..

Rockets as a weapon are really lame. They don't do any damage. They're nice starting point to train up to heavy and cruise missles, but for the long run, they are weak at best.
