- Position and size of the overview and the station services window keeps changing when undocking/docking. - In some of the my characters, activated modules that should display the cycling graphic around the module don't, just pulsating instead (this bug has been around for a couple of patches). |

When will you fix that annoying bug with position with overview ... this is very ridiculous that you have two test servers and still can deploy stupid bugs and we must wait ages for fix. |

We are working on a fix for the overview issue which we are aiming to get out in the coming days. In the meantime there are workarounds outlined in this thread that have worked for some people. And believe me, we're just as frustrated as you are that we didn't catch this in testing. I know it's hard to believe when you see it happen every time you dock or undock, but it's the nature of these things that sometimes they only manifest under conditions that don't occur in our test environment.. |

Is this the sort of thing you'll have a client patch for tomorrow, or is this one gonna linger around for another couple expansions? Cause this is affecting a lot of people and is basically game-breaking. We are treating this as a high priority issue. And to address the QA question, unfortunately it's one of those issues that only happen under certain circumstances (the details of which we haven't determined yet but part of it is the timing of sequence of events) which didn't occur in our test environment. I know it's hard to believe when you see it happen every time, these are really the most annoying bugs.

While we all understand no software is ever going to be perfect, these windows/overview bugs seem to happen EVERY SINGLE TIME a major patch is released. And they hardly ever get fixed to full satisfaction. It has gotten to a point that windows jumping all over the place, not remembering their size and issues like that are not even bugs anymore but just normal client behavior for me, until I realize just how ******** that really is.... |

Im sure this has been mentioned but
Since the new 1.1.2 my windows will not remain pinned in the correct location. I run on dual monitors and now it seems when i go between space, ship spin mode and CQ mode my windows jump around the place and unsize themselves after being pinned in specific places. This was not an issue with 1.1.1
Also why in ship spin mode is there no ambient background noise ? in CQ mode when you walk up to the platform you hear all the background noise but ship spin is totally dead silent.

I have already posted that I have 3 accounts and on 1 of the 3, ship spinning is not working.
I have noticed that on the same account that is not spinning ships, it is also not loading any player pictures.
Also when I try to spin the ship on the defective account, I have noticed when I left click to start the spin, the cursor changes to the "movement" cursor as expected, but when I move the mouse in any direction the cursor reverts back to the "normal" cursor. It is as if the ship spin is being immediately canceled when the mouse is moved. |

Could you try resetting the window positions to default in the ESC menu, Reset Settings, and see if that helps with the overview/station services moving around when docking/undocking? Not a guaranteed fix, but this seems to do it for a lot of players. Noticed this on my Mac client. I tried resetting the default window positions in the ESC menu and it did seem to keep my Overview and selected item window positioned correctly. But upon docking my Station Services window was slid down a bit. And as the station environment was loading I noticed that the Selected Item window as still on screen as the Station services window loaded positioned exactly below where the Selected item window was. This was true of the Overview and Selected Item windows when undocking as well, however the window position reset fixed the problem during the undock. The problem still remains for the Station services window, however.
Had the same problem and after thinking about that for like 30 seconds i figured out what is maybe a temp solution for this game breaking issue and the thing is that the client apparently resizes overview and station services windows trying to fit em on screen as if they where in the same lets call it sesion...and that shouldnt happen because in station overview is off and vice versa...so...about my temp solution...move the station services window to the top left of the screen (assuming you dont use any other window on that position) so the client dosnt try to resize anything because windows are on different corners of the screen...at least this worked for me and i can live for a few days with the station services window in an anoying position... |

CCP Gangleri wrote:Andreus Ixiris wrote:Overview and Station Services are resizing! CCP, I warned you about this. Twice on the forums, and once in a bug report. I warned you about this and you told me you knew of the problem - how did it end up in a Tranquility release? I pretty much specifically said "this will be a deal-breaker for some players". Why is this not fixed? You're still not listening to your testers. You still don't care that we're putting in the hours. I am very disappointed in you. We did in fact receive reports of this happening, as stated in the threads you linked above we were never able to get this to happen repeatedly. ... But the above steps only triggered the issue once, after that it never happened again until the above steps were repeated. This led me to judge this as not severe enough to stop us from releasing Incarna 1.1.2 which hopefully seems like a logical conclusion. Fast forward to today, soon after Tranquility opened up it became clear that this was affecting more users than we had expected. It now seems obvious that this should have been considered a more serious issue, ....
exactly THAT way of thinking is the root cause of all problems, i could climb up the walls reading this!!! being a dev myself and having filed and processed many bugs myself i can tell you, that just because a bug cannot be reproduced easily or the steps to reproduce it are not visible, the bug hasnt vanished - the bug is still there. often the reason for the bug appearing are side conditions, a different environment,... sure, but there is no excuse for lazy programming, bad QA or false management decisions. many problems would not be built in first place if the programmer started thinking and tried to handle all conditions (instead of "i assume things are like this when my method starts").
let me assure you, if you put more time into thorough development, maybe employ practices like extreme programming, the rate you spam bugs will drop rapidly - it is hard to think of all possible conditions yourself, i know. just because a bug does not appear for 1 month doesnt mean it is not there. sometimes you do not need reproducible steps to find a bug, plain hard thinking might also help.
if people put their own time in to do QA for you - then you should honor that and not dismiss those reports as non-reproducible, unimportant or something else.
maybe you should also think about fixing existing bugs first before implementing new functionality. for weeks i am seeing really annoying bugs in tranquility like the following: - assets window freezes after some time - warp tunnel effect sometimes not there - speed display freezes sometimes - no drag and drop between quickbar and chat
...not to speak of some simple UI changes which would improve usabilty very much.
when you file a new bug, first you are told to delete the cache and all settings (understandable, but feels a bit like first level support handling your case - "you plugged the power chord in?!"). while deleting the cache is no problem, deleting your settings every time you file a bug is unacceptable, because many settings are not saved server-side and cannot be imported/exported client-side (among them being bookmark structuring, quickbar, shortcuts, ...). how about rolling out some consistency checking for the settings? enable users to edit settings manually?
sorry for the hard criticism, i do believe there has been much valuable work done and improvements implemented behind the scenes. you just need to work on those things.
i was very happy when i read weeks ago top management wanted to listen more to the community and put quality first. sadly it seems that people in development und people responsible for the release decision have not yet heard or felt those changes. i just hope there will be a change in the future... |

Glad that it helped at least 1 person
and btw...im having some minor graphical glitchs since the patch, not gamebreaking but anoying, one is the warp tunnel, either non existant or heading an extremelly wrong direction (70 degree from where im heading as example)...the other is a small black box in the top center of the screen when i open the game (its like 1x12mm), this last one is maybe my graphic card acting up and about to die or something, but the timing was strange, i mean...this appeared after a patch and also it goes away as soon as i close the game...and...the black box is not all the time black...sometimes it copy the background color in the game...and i play in windowed mode, if i move the game window the black box stays in the exact same position... |

Well, good luck fixing it, I know I look forward to seeing it fixed, though I do have a workable solution for now.
Basically, just turn the window snap off and things seem to stay put, mostly, enough so to make it less hair pullingly annoying.
I'd apologize for going nuclear but no, I'm not sorry, this was a really bad blunder. How y'all missed it is really beyond belief.

Does it maybe have to do with if load station environment was disabled prior to updating to CQ only? |

Yet another customer peeved off at CCP's lack of QA. I just don't buy the "we didn't know it would be such a big issue" thing. People posted in the test forum that it was happening to them. CCP was just in too much of a rush to get the spinning ships out the door that they shot themselves in the foot. Again. |
