Now, to reinforce what I was saying again, what Herko and I agreed on. Pirates are 100% honorless. Honor is having a 1v1 with another respectable pilot and letting him walk if you savagely beat him, or staying true to your word in a legitimate or willing agreement. Once again, staying true to your word when dealing with a helpless victim is just ensuring a larger number of people who think they'll survive an encounter if they pay up. It's not honor, and it never will be honor.
I'd like to see more pirate hunters honestly....
Piracy has got to be the worst way to make money in the game, but certanly one of the most fun ways.

Ive never seen the point of indiscriminate killing tbh. Sure, you probably earn more cash selling all the fancy mods, but the way I see it people should be given one last chance to back out of PvP. It just so happens that chance costs them a reasonable fee 
Im interested in being a pirate, not a mass-murderer.

The real pirate code == 100% amorality
Pirates are some of the most effective businessmen (and women ) of EVE. Your ship, your insurance, your pod, your fittings, your wallet...all of that means notihng to a true pirate. If a real pirate thinks he can make 5 more ISK in the long run by lying to you and killing your ship and then possibly podding you after a ransom then he WILL do so.
The pirate code you seem to be speaking of is simply an understanding between pirate and miner/trader that the destruction of ships benefits neither so you give him the money you would've spent on insurance and he lets you go so he can catch you again another day or week and make more money off you later.
Pirates can make much more money for slightly more risk by ransoming than they could selling the surviving modules. Victims can save money paying them compared to running back to buy, equip, and insure another ship. So while you may prefer not to run into pirates at all it is still better for them to ransom you than kill you because in the long run they'll make more money from it and you'll save more.
If one of the pimple-faced teenagers on a power-trip does decide to pod you after you pay, then you're out a few mil. Suck it up and don't pay to that corp next time, be vocal about it next time they try to ransom you and they'll soon realize its eating into their profits. Its still better for you though than being podded EVERY time they could normally kill you. Spread the word about it, throw a token bounty on him, and that pirate/pirate corp will not be nearly as sucessful as those who do ransom "fairly".

If a pirate kills you after you pay, spred the word and he soon will live to regret it.
I have let many go Because they paid. and will never go back on my word.
But hey i guess alot of people out there would prefer there to be no pirating, we can all go pick daisys together and eat muffins

sadly theres not many ways you can ransom in emperiel space... therefor its just more easy to kill people.. it would be a nice feuture from ccp to make something like this able in empire or the low sec of empire... hell make a pirat warb buble which are able to be hiding from the scentries.. :P and say u have to be a secrate -10 to be able to use it... yahhhrrr

Pirates who keep their word on ransoms generally (from what I heard) make more ISK. This code is sound business sense for pirates but of course there are many different types of pirates out there. It's down to the pirate community to hunt and kill those that damage their reputation to the point it affects their business and they do. Self regulation 4TW

I shoot to kill and collect the mods. If i pop a ship this way, I'll go for the pod. If someone ask me to stop, I'll toss up a money amount (give or take about 20% of there ships vaule). They pay, they walk away.
