Remember when the EVE art style used to look like this?

Why'd CCP ever give up on things that look like that? Maxim 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun. |

because caldari are the easiest race to V3 - why not just pretend the other races are caldari too?
I swear in V4 the domi is going to get painted gunmetal grey and get a big C slapped on the side |

I've seen some of the earlier artwork, and a lot of it seems to have a sort of cyberpunk feel. I guess CCP gradually came to realise that EVE Online isn't a cyberpunk game, and modified the art accordingly. He who controls the veld, controls the universe. |

EVE's art technology has improved, but the art itself is blander than oatmeal. Maxim 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun. |

As a reader of William Gibson's fiction since1979 issues of Omni Magazine, I must say that you are most wrong. There is much to be said in favour of modern journalism. By giving us the opinions of the uneducated, it keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the community.-á-á-á-á - Oscar Wilde |

No wonder they changed the style. immortal demigods have awful taste in style? Whodathunk? I mean a regular mortal celebrity will often have tacky over the top tastes. Still though, tacky and over the top beats the k-mart rejects that it got turned into. By a wide margin. Maxim 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun. |

Looks better than the bland gap inspired Avatars we have currently. My Ni Kunni used to looks awesome, but they removed all the awesome options with the new creator. Wish we could get some of that back. Also the Gallente used to look crazy. And ammarians had an option to wear almost a metal suit of armour. That was flipping awesome! Bring back those options again. Never realised it but the OP is right. |

For a long time CCP adopted the "that'll do" mediocre approach. Lacking balls, vision, artistic quality, excellence and awesomeness. Look at all the old characters, ingame effects and whatnot; yes they're low on polygons etc but the aesthetics are awesome, different and showing an eagerness to make something amazing.
These days it's bland, entirely forgettable, boring and grey. As if they just can't be bothered anymore to be awesome, or simply lacking the talent to make it happen. Amat victoria curam. Excellence in everything.

Fortunately, my EveMon never updated the picture of my avatar so I can always see how I used to look.
Being a Caldari soldier, I used to have bandoliers across my chest. Some wrench-like object I probably swung as a club in a moment's fit of rage was slung across my pack. And after enough battles, metal plates and tubing as part of my cranial and facial features gave the appearance I might be a bit more machine than flesh at this point.
Now - clean cut? Check. Leather jacket? Check. Appear like everyone else? Check. |

WTF are you complain about? All of the avatar development was stopped. You wanted the ships only, so don't complain now. Get you ships, and a shooter instead of of avatars, snd STFO. in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much? Thank god they did, that style was like a poor imitation of 5th element missing all the notes that made it great. The new style is very slick, particularly for the ship redesigns. TEST Alliance BEST Alliance |
