A Patch for Tyrannis brought the server down for around 34 hours in June of 2010. We got 250,000 SP reimbursement.

Strange how on the launcher it states online and 13835 players are in game and yet on the login page it says server is not taking connections and there is 1 person online.... Hmmmmmm a person might start believing that CCP are 'cooking' the figures on how many players are logging in and that, that 13k of players is just the number of fake acc that ccp keep running 24/7 to make the game look more popular than it is... hardly surprising when every update these days seems to be about making the game harder to succeed in unless you are an ass that plays only to disrupt others entertainment!!

anyway real players are again in the game so time to go ruin my sec stat - now that it only takes a few stinking tags to clear away the results of being a trolling, ganking and disruptive ****... GAME ON!!!!!

13K players are likely the number online at the point of shutdown. the 1 player online would be a dev making sure the basics where right.

You're a moron, The launcher shows the amount of players logged in at any given time, how it does this is through the api...Which is five minutes delayed...

Guy whining about the conspiricy theory, the point about the api has been made, if you have evemon installed you will noticed that failed a number of times through the unexpected downtime. The game is not meant to be a solo player, and its not developed in a way that makes it one, however it does have the ability to allow people to play independtly.

Apparently you lost a freighter, well who build that, did you, did you mine all the minerals or did others, did you buy all the BPOs from the market, or did you get minerals from the market mined by others, copies from contracts bought, researched and copied by others. Almost nothing in this game can be done completely alone, and thats how it should be.

The people that ganked you just made full use of the existing mechanics, they learnt to play the game, and do it well.

Regards the trust no one comment, why should you trust somebody straight away, shouldnt they have to earn that trust?

I playing as i whine... not sure why some of you think this is about a lost freighter in jita as i have not trained any freighter skills and play about 65 jumps from jita.... not one of you have or a dev has given explanation to my initial post about why there is a need to lie about the amount of players online by 13k+ players when the servers are not taking login requests and the servers been down 25 mins so the 5 min api refresh argument is invalid.. try reading the post again as poorly spelled and bad grammer is obviously causing problems for some of the more sophisticated trollers... and if people want to insult me don't get all f**king p**sy if i do the same...

As for not liking EVE and needing to find something better... after playing for 7 years i think i payed for the right to state my opinion unlike you players of a year or 2 who have barely been weaned off mummy's tit !!!!!

A reason was given for the number of players appearing as 13K

Before the downtime, approx 24K players where online, as people logged off and got disconnect there would be have been an instant when the number was 13K, it was at this point the api server made the call, and the number in the launcher was updated.

The value would not have updated again until 5 minutes after the server was online and open again. The api server is likely one of the last things on their mind when they have to turn off an entire universe.

after playing for 7 years you do have a right to an opinion, start a GD thread about it, hell put it in the issues area of the forums, thats where things like that belong! not on an update issues by CCP (which admitedly ive not helped matters with discussing the issue)

Eve is a game, you are getting to worked up about it, if you are unhappy with the way they use your sub money stop playing, or pay via plex bought from the market, let someone elses money be used not yours

Anyway, I just want to thank CCP Guard and the rest of CCP who notified players of this issue and downtime. Don't let silly people like Necromantic (dun dun dunnnnnnn) get to you.

you wanna quote what post explained that??? because your post is the first i have seen to say that the welcome page is using 25 min old api data instaead of an accurate one of zero players and the situation went on longer than 5 min after the server went back on and it was over 10 mins till i posted to the forum and another 5 till it showed an accurate counting on the open page and well over 30 mins later others were still getting the message that the servers not taking connections... dude I asked a question and have paid for the right to an answer and yes i'm pissed off that the game is now attracting a bunch of juvenile trollers that spend their time in game trying to upset others... that feature is not an old one it is one that has steadily gotten worse over the last few years only and is due to the ******* generation that has found its way into the game and CCP have decided that its cheaper to change the game rules than spend money on programming that will make unsocial gaming harder .... if that has taken the fun out of the game for older players who have literally paid -ú1000's in subs and plex then i for one think CCP have f**ked up... just because their choice of how to take the game forward is to appease these spiteful players rather than punish them for it - doesn't make it right... and doesn't mean it should just be accepted either.
