This is CRAP! Every few days I get a update request... and now it flat out doesn't work.. Quit updating things before they have gone to test mode on a computer of your own!
Anyone in the technical world should know before deploying a mass scale update - it needs to be tested and retested to prevent mass non working programs and such.

I got the offline issues as well, I downloaded the link in the first post and installed the new launcher which did launch however I got a huge long error message.
So I tried the the repair.exe and bin exefile solution suggested by a few other players and can get logged into the game now, for anyone trying this the repair tool does take some time to load then to do its thing but it seems to work eventually.
CCP: I appreciated that mistakes happen and things go wrong however, the lack of communication about this issue is not forgivable. It should not be down the the players to come up with a workable fix/workaround to get the game working, I have spent so long tonight looking at this thread and trying the things suggested that by the time I have finally got logged in I'm in no mood to play Eve anymore.

I solved my "Incompatible protocol" issue by following this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238161
At first my repair tool did absolutely nothing - My pc just loaded for a while and then nothing happened.
I then tried to access the links mentioned in this post: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3061535#post3061535
First file loaded instantly, second file didn't seem to load at all. I left a tab open for each file and after 10 minutes or so the last file loaded aswell. From this i concluded that perhaps the repair tool was suffering under the same issues. I therefore tried to start the repairtool yet again, and then just let it stay open (in my earlier tries I had force closed it through the task manager) - And hurray, my patience payed off. The repair tool started and after yet another several minutes of waiting it started fixing eve.
I can now use the exefile to start the game and log in - No more "Incompatible protocol"!
So in conclusion: Have patience.. Lot's of patience :) |

So I have attempted to log in for the last hour with no success. Tried the bin/Eveexe.exe method, all with no success. Here is what my log-in screen says when I successfully open the launcher: Now, maybe you can tell me what I need to do now. Oh, is CCP going to compensate all of its players for thier troubles with this. I think they should for all of this leg work for an untested updates and patches. Well CCP you asked what we were seeing when we logged on, and I now present to you........This mess........

I saw his post. I'm now drinking whisky and watching the other forum thread that CCP guard mentioned. I'm hoping to see some sort of update there in an hour or so, even if it's just to say that you love us and are still working on it. |

I don't really think the problem is directly caused by the launcher. When I try to log in, I get a exception like this:
Unable to download remote build number Traceback (most recent call last): [...] Frame GetRemoteBuildNumber in lib\info.pyo at line 182: folder = u'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CCP\\EVE' url = 'http://client.eveonline.com/patches/premium_patchinfoTQ_inc.txt'
When I try to get this file (http://client.eveonline.com/patches/premium_patchinfoTQ_inc.txt) directly with firefox, it takes a long time to connect and download. I suppose the problem comes from the CCP webserver where the necessary files for the launcher are hosted. The launcher should have a longer time-out delay until it generates the exception...

I'm sure CCP would love to roll back their webservers to a working state. Rolling back the launcher change (what you probably wanted to suggest) wouldn't change a damn thing.

Freiday wrote:If you have problems with the new login patch here's the solution:
a) start exefile.exe from the ccp/bin/ folder ... let the update install fully.
b) run repair.exe from the ccp folder .. and let it repair completly.
c) start EVE directly from the exefile.exe in ccp/bin and not the launcher or the eve.exe in ccp
note: ccp/bin/exefile.exe is *not* ccp/evelauncher.exe or ccp/eve.exe , those start the launcher and that is *BROKEN* from the new update.
