I'm disgusted by the fact CCP seem to be totally discouraging talk on this topic at all..

Will be banned for 24hrs?? for complaining about not being able to logon??? Is this your customer model, if customer's complain, you'll ban them for 24hrs?

Why would I be banned for talking about this? What type of government does Iceland have, anyway, I wonder... Strange reaction to people bringing up a problem that actually exists.

Some people have spammed hundreds upon hundreds of shuttles in Jita. I won't comment on the reasons for this, as mods are threatening with bans if you comment on it, but several nodes have been brought down by this attack.

Just gr8.... I Alt-tab quite often whilst in autopilot. I tab back in only to find my FPS has dropped to something like 1 fpm (yes I mean fpm not fps), so I think well best restart.... now I got your problem....

Well I've tried to join since 10:20gmt, it's now an hour and a half after that. Going to bed... Not at all impressed for a service that costs me money every month, I respect the 1 hr downtime a day, but not this.
The only thing I'm thankful of is that I'm training a skill that has 3 days yet to go.

Similar situation here. Gone for 8 months and this is what I return to. Not overwhelming me with confidence. Yet still, here i am with the eve client always on the login screen so every few minutes I can try to get in...

Well, geographic concurrency is always the weak spot in any MMO. Despite instancing and redundant systems, most MMOs have to map virtual space to specific zone servers at some point in their setup. EQ, DOAC, WOW, SWG, RO, GW, Eve, and so on all have this technology. Its kinda the defacto backbone of any MMORPG.
Guild Wars is the only MMO I've ever seen that is really resistant to high concentrations of players/player-owned objects. It doesn't solve the problem, but side-steps it via a dynamic instancing and zone-server allocation system. The rest have to handle it in the normal fashion - beefy hardware , selective instancing, and in-game pressures to make players spread out. Obviously such methods can be defeated as they rely on cleverness rather than absolute barriers.
For example - a game designer could simply set caps on the density of renderable objects per virtual zone. This would enforce a maximum level of load on any given zone server. However, that would suck. How well would the game work if players couldn't enter a given zone due to too many objects/people already being in it? Or not be able to create any new virtual objects in a given space due to the cap having been hit?
The reason that companies use multiple servers is because the power of any one server cannot scale with its load as it is a finite amount. Thus clusters and arrays of servers are used so that processing can take place in parallel and can scale with demand. This type of processing is still limited however by the need for servers to communicate with each other. If 2 servers are assigned one zone, then each server has to share its data with one other server to maintain consistancy. If 20 servers are managing a single zone, then each server has to match data with 19 other servers to maintain consistancy. So with 20 servers there's (19*19) 361 times as much cross-server communication taking place as there is with only 2 servers. See the lag yet?
Its never as simple as - why didn't the company make sure this couldn't/wouldn't/didn't happen? There are limits on technology folks.

they have closed a cluster, i aint sure how eve works but i *think* that the nodes make up a cluster.. though im not sure whether this is limited to regions in game or RL
if its closed off part of the RL clusters then it explains why some ppl can get in and other cant, but if its in game i aint got a clue all i know is this whole thing is very silly and very disruptive 4 those of us who want to play....
