"possibly... reports and rumours are very vague right now, indicating nobody really knows much."
Well... rumours being true or not, whoever was trying to get their hands on a stack of low-cost CuV mining lasers has probably achieved their goal already by now, non?.. :s

Here's another thing to note, they take 80cpu vs 60 for Cu's.
Typical BB Cpu is only 450.
Expect 20%+ cpu's to jump up massively in price :P

according to a gm, a miner II bp was traded for the jove laser. so either this person is a shady liar or the gm is lying because i dont think they would put bps in drops and trade a bp to tti for a jove item at the same time because that would lower the value of the bp tti got.

If that is true I'd rather left them that lone 160m¦ tech lvl5 laser - a miner 2 bpw is worth a LOT more than that thing.

No it's not. With the Miner 2 BP, they get a bit of a headstart on Level 2 tech - maybe a couple of weeks at best.
With a Nibelung sitting happily in their hangars, they just wait until Reverse Engineering comes out, and BANG! They got a tech level 5 item.
In other words, that "single" tech level 5 item is much, MUCH more unbalancing to the game than a Miner 2 bp - when Miner 2's are going to be available soon anyway.

You have to be joking right?
These people looted an item off a GM ship that was destroyed. IT was the base starting equipment of the ship.
This game could have had that slightly removed with a simple database procedure, yet this remains in game, and worse is traded for a base-commodity blueprint not available anywhere else.
Who is sleeping with who if thats the case?
You say want a working economy on one hand, and on the next you give away unique technology to someone else, who them fronts it from an NPC corp. You want a working market :D LOL
Have fun.

IF that is true that is seriously OUT OF FRIKKEN ORDER.
CCP should have reversed teh transaction or turned the mining laser into a miner 1.
look what happened to the guy who got a Tech 5 missile print... his print was turned into a tech 1 print.
why didnt CCP just reverse the transaction OR turn the laser into a tech 2 or tech 1 laser.
Someone confirm if it is true or not... if its is then its disgusting

ruffles: perhaps you should read up on what really happened before you go shooting your mouth off. I am not affiliated with TTI nor have i ever met a TTi member, but a dev member came on and explained what happend a few days ago. So stop with the bull.
Furthermore, what difference does it make? "the rich get richer"?? big deal! They have used a unique situation to their advantage to gain a head start on the rest of you. Good on TTi i say. Did you think that everyone would instantly get a miner II the day they get rel'd? Or would the bigger corps who can afford the bp's now get them first? HMMMMMM tricky question?

Edited by: Daan on 09/08/2003 17:42:03 well id say give them 8 miner ii's :
say lvl4 mining and a apoc: 1x 177ore/min + 7x 58 (7x cu vapor) ore/min = 583 ore/min /8 = about 72 ore/min just like a miner ii at lvl4

Edited by: ChaosTEK on 09/08/2003 17:47:38 It's nice how CCP corrected the mistake.
The player met with a jovian and was presented with a tech 2 miner bp. Meeting with a jove is suppost to be one of the most rewarding things in the game and im glad to see it still is.
They also introduced tech 2 items that will be available for all. Isn't that what everyone wanted?

See, here's the thing. I'm working my ass off to find my "pot of gold". Killing pirates, blah, blah but there is NO chance IN hell that I can find anything because CCP just hands stuff out to whover they think should have it.
There is no sense of fairness in this game at all, it's very clear the devs are picking and choosing their favorite corps. They will play the game on the backs of everyone else who will be paying outrageous amounts of isk just to get the favored corp's leftovers.
Who was this game designed for anyway?

Now, if someone is actually selling them instead of bragging about their bp copy.
I tried buying some and me thinks the person doesn't have them and is only bragging about it, why else wouldn't you respond to a SERIOUS buy offer ? ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

What are you on? It was given to a random player. who then traded it with tti.
Sorry but not everyone can score big.

Now seriously.
I want to know how the hell this blueprint got into the game.
If someone found it off an extreme random drop from a pirate, then fine, I can deal with that.
If someone found a bookmark to a remote location from an extreme or one of a kind rare pirate drop, where he was approached by someone and given the BP, then fine I can deal with that.
If CCP gave out the BP and thus sole production rights to the laser as compensation to TTI for the less than 55 million that they spent on the laser, than that is completely unacceptable.
Why? because a) BP copies are going to be nerfed for everyone else by the time tech level 2 items are available to those non-priveledged folks, b) one single laser which does 100 more ore units than the best laser around is still better than 200 lasers that can do 11 more ore units than the best around.
Why should I bother playing? This game is a competition, players competing for resources, for power, for money. What's the point if willy-nilly the developers give out sole production rights to a single individual, or a single corporation, without giving anyone else in the universe even an opportunity to compete for it.
I don't mind it if anyone else is the first to get a technology in the game because they fought harder, or fought more pirates, or had the most money, or was very diplomatic, because I know that if I fought harder, fought more, or had more money, or was more diplomatic, I would have an opportunity to get that item myself.
But I do mind it if out of nowhere something incredible is given to an individual, for NO reason at all. Or because they know a dev, or whatever. I'm already at a major disadvantage, I started a month and a bit later than most, I'm down 1,000,000 skill points from most people, that's a million skill points that I'll never make up. Now I'm also starting to realize that maybe I'm at an even greater disadvantage, because you know, I've never had a chance to meet these devs. I've never been approached by a jovian and given a super laser for no reason. I've never been handed a miner II Blueprint. And you know, no matter how hard I play, how smart I might be, it doesn't make a damn lick of difference if select people get given super things, for no good reason.
I don't mind competing. But this is like playing monopoly with someone who is allowed to take money out of the bank whenevery they damn well feel like it and give it to all their friends.
If of course, the miner II was obtained legitemately, in a fashion that, say, anyone could have gotten if they'd been lucky\perseverant enough then thats great, and congratulations to whoever got the BP.
If it was handed to them, well, um congratulations that you got it first, but it means nothing. And I'm very disappointed in those who gave it to you.

well, if u consider they have priced fixed it at 5.5mil and can make 48 a day. (TTI makes like 1 bil isk a week - from various statements made by TTI).
they've just doubled their weekly income. go figure.

Zeidrich pretty much summed up my thoughts on this as well. I play competively and fully accept if I've been bested or out manuvered.
However, it would be totally unacceptable if others are gaining an advantage I have no hope of achieving myself.
Lastly, what is the *actual* deal with this? I mean, it seems evident that the item and perhaps the BP exists. Did it drop in Fountain? Was it handed to someone from a dev? Was it looted from a Jove ship? This part seems unclear.
