Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 10/08/2003 21:17:32 People like you will be podded, Shollos, as you well know.
Personally, and not speaking as part of EV here, I wish the invitation was not necessary (perhaps CCP have requested it be made?) and that the SA alone would benefit from whatever results of this Event.
As it is, the invitation has been made and I hope everyone has fun and that there aren't too many complaints about it.

I don't think so... If you're thinking of G-ME2K you're very wrong.
We have high lvl agents in Stain too...
It's obvious that noone Jove is online in Stain currently.

Looks like M0O are camping the entrance to Stain.
Ah well, if they help keep people out, the better it is for the rest of us.

Quote: Due to an all out assault by Jovian forces, SA call for help from all of EVE.
Today a full fleet of Jovians has entered Stain (about 10 we understand). These renegades are trying to hide in the system. They are heavily armed and will not only fight to the death, but have made it known they will destroy anything in their path.
We have tried to hold them back, but it is useless. SA call upon all brave enough to come and help. Those willing to fight the Jovians û and are in good standing with SA - will be allowed free passage until this curse is eradicated.
You should know that while the rewards may be high in defeating the Jovians, you stand to lose your ships and equipment. Only come if you are prepared to lose all for the Empire.
While we welcome reinforcements to our home during this crisis, we ask you to respect the alliance, and not to mine while you are there. We will consider mining a hostile act against the alliance, and will also attack any Corp member that has a negative rating with SA.

RAIDAKAOZ, this initial post is supposed to fit in the roleplaying of the storyline. There is noting we would like more than to only have the Stain Alliance only go after these jovians. But since we had already seen jovians in local and fired upon them, we suspected that something was going to happen. This was soon confirmed. The GM asked us to open up Stain for some non-stain people. We choosed to announce it this way.
And please note, the SA has NO ADDITIONAL INFO besides what is said in the official news. And the news was posted a long time ago, and yet, nothing has happened.

Just to clear up a small point - GMs did not ask us to open Stain to everyone. They said they would like some non SA bounty hunters to have the opportunity to take part.
SA decided that it was only fair to open it to as many people as possable. We realise that we have drastically reduced our chance of getting items, and that we may very well lose ships if some people won't leave peacefully when the event is over. We are still happy that we have done this for the good of the game, and the enjoyment of many players.

With the greatest respect due to the Stain Alliance, you have done no such thing. To whit...
- You are not allowing anyone in or out of the area without them being fired upon. - In doing this, you will be able to collect any "spoils" from the fugitive Jove if they try and leave with them.
Of course, Stain is a lovely spot for the Jove to hole up, as while every man and his dog rushes to try and assist, the pirates corporations (m0o Corp, TTi, etc.) simply move to plug up the holes that the SA leave.
As such, the BSC will not participate, assist or help in the event as we can not gain anything, without very heavy losses from three seperate corners - the Jove in the attack, Stain and the Pirates on the way in and out.
To my mind, from an "event" point of view it was very badly planned and didn't take into account the current "state of play" in the EVE universe.
From a roleplay point of view, the Jovians picked the perfect place to hole up, as it means that the inferior races will simply destroy themselves trying to get to them.
Lovely. --

Lets have a Reality check here
SA says there is an event happening in there area, and are kind enough to invite all and sundry to said event. Yet people whine, the orignal poster was roleplaying(thats the way i saw it)
Now if this event happened and you wer'nt invited or knew nothing about it, I can just see the forums filling up with flames. SA has opened its doors (with conditions yes) but for the overall benefit of all. They could of easily locked down the whole area completely, which would u prefer?.
This is the content, which i have seen many posts about on forums(CCP add content or I will cancel my account), now you have it, enjoy it.
As for the Stain allaince, they have created an empire/region where there are rules, if u dont like them then stay away. This is also true for any other alliance holding a region.
If you want to put it into context, here goes Im british, in the uk i can drink maybe 1 litre of normal beer and still be allowed to drive a car(normal=4-5% strength) tho it depends on the individual In Norway( I may be wrong, it may be another Scandanavin country)if you have any alcohol in your blood you are not suppsoed to drive. If I goto Norway I would be expected to obey their rules and laws.
So essentially if u dont like the rules for a given area which are enforced, stay out of that area, dont cry when u break the rules and get slapped
Remember its a game and play it as such
Carry forth the light of Redemption. Take it unto the places filled with darkness, And with it destroy the shadows. |

"Please, understand that the GMs wants us to allow "non-Stain" people to be able to participate in this event..."
And, that I am sure, is the ONLY reason you are allowing anyone in.
Thanks, but no thanks. I see no reason to help SA clean up their backyard so that I may again be excluded from the region.
This whole thing strikes me as helping the murderer load his weapon.
Now, if the Joves are looking for recruits, we might be interested...

Rules?
SA are nothing more then a bunch of squatters, who aren't kicked out by the local pirates because CCP didn't think of this yet.
It's ridiculous that a 400 odd alliance can control a region owned by npc pirates, farming them all day long whithout any penalties. --- soonÖ |

You don't want us there, but, the GM's are making you share... Why on earth do the GM's keep catering to the already rich? New players are constantly forced to cater to the rich and watch the rich get richer and watch the rich play the game... Is anything being done to let the people, that have joined Eve in the last month, get to play this game? I mean its nice I think that a few people get to go to rich peoples established parts of the game for a limited amount of time to try and soak up a few drops of gravy from the rich players GM catered feast. I think it would be nicer if Dev's could make an event for potential second and third month subscribers. I mean really... they are only behind a month why continue to set them back by years......

I agree with every word of the BSC statement above.
Too dangerous to get in, too dangerous to get out- and probably not a sniff of the spoils either. Any participation that may happen would have to be followed by a lifetime free-pass for Stain (including mining rights) and a one way non-aggression treaty too.
OOC: The placement of this event could not have been worse IMHO. Put it in an open area.

I am not sure what has happened here. I personally arranged clearance for BSC to enter Stain. I also got reports that at least 9 of you arrived safely in Stain and were scouting the systems for Jovians.

That's why I'm not going. As soon as a Jove BS is destroyed there will be a mad rush to get the loot, the person who gets it will be shot down immediatly by several other people, a total war will ensue and whatever items the Jove BS may have dropped will eventually be destroyed.

I was the one attacked while entering a bottleneck system on my way out of the Stain area. At this moment I cannot recall the exact name of the system (**-4GS maybe?).
The second I entered the area, the jump-in point was camped, and I was fired upon. "Examined......Diagnosed......Now comes the Surgery."

It certainly seems there was simply a lack of thought that went into this. You'd think they'd make some sort of event that all people, regardless of faction, corporation, or experience, could participate in, and enjoy.
I'm fairly well equipped myself, but a solo pilot in a cruiser stands to gain nothing from this. Centauri,

I agree that it is a poorly planed event, not because its all the way out there, not because its in selfproclaimed SA dominion, no.
It is a poorly planed event as the first contact we get from jove are ships that the major corps will have a tough time taking out.
What chance would I have if I accidently ran into one? Im in a mid cruiser with standard gear, I not only dont stand a chance odds are if they drop in on me they will vaporise me and whatever force I could muster.
And dont tell me the jovian ships coming through are battle ships... why would our first encounter be battleships?
why not let a few jove frigates be seen in areas, the admiral or whatever he was is a renegade, there are jovian ships after him isnt there, they need to scout out where this renegade is holed up.
Let a few weeks pass by with small scirmishes where jove frigates scout out the 0.0 sectors, no need to bring in BS's untill way later.
Its the clasical old save the world syndrome, everything has to be so damn big.
After a few frigates have been downed then let some cruisers scry the systems where they loose smaller ships not untill a number of cruisers have been lost should BS come in.
That said, I have no idea wether the ships are BS's cruisers or even industrials, as far as I know the devs may have taken out a jove cruiser and picked a fight for the fun of it.
I just hope it starts small where we the small players can get in on the fun.
Lastly, no way I go into SA on some vague explanation the GM's wanted for others to be in on it, if they wanted that then there is plenty of empty space for the jove to hide out in, they want me in the event then place it in neutral space. I doubt I would go to an organized mass event like this anyways as best case cenareo, I come back with my ship intact and not too badly bruised. My odds of gaining one of the fabled BP's... 0% Its SA area, so I bet they will demand the loot. I know they will not say, "Oh you got that container, good on ya, move along."
Sorry CCP, this is not an event for me.

Haven't figured it out yet? Events can't be held in 'open areas'. The overagressive Concord system guarantees someone will die if they tried empire space.

Gang,
This makes me sad to see some of the negative feedback. We tried to RP a bit and ask the Eve community to come out and have some fun. We at SA are not evil, we only have some rules in order to keep things civil in the region.
Guys come out and have some fun, if you do come out.. Wonderful...But please, there is no need to flame us for announcing the community event.
Cheers, and I hope to see you fine folks out here for the party :)
