They will. Just give them some time to absorb that nothing they can do to prevent it and OMG, when China will hit the servers that would be a real fun on Ebay.
It happens with Sony, who also tried to prevent game money trading, but end up with an auction of 500k per month turnover. It happens to every successful MMO. It will happens to Eve, sooner or later.

What would be the purpose of this game? If I am allowed to take my savings and buy everything I wanted from CCP?
Need an outpost...sure only cost 30-50 bucks, lets get a dread...30 more lets get one of every BPO tech II included. say 300 bucks lets get one of every ship....oh 10000 bucks
hummm I still have alot left over...
There goes the player market...there goes the reason lots of people play...no reason to mine...no reason to build...only thing left is pvp.
Might just as well shut the game off. Cause your still not seeing where 75% of the players are. EMPIRE doing anything but PVP Combat.
You have thrown out some real wing dingers. This is the worst.

The people that post here are the ones that care about the game (generally) The silent majority are the ones purchasing from E-bay. I'd stake money on there being 1000+ macroers in-game. Go to Maspah. Theres 14 of them in one belt. Thats just one example.
People are falling over themselves to sell ETC's for ISK now. Yet more people that would agree with this practice.
Stop being so naive as to delude yourself there is no demand. The signs are all around you but you just refuse to see. CCP have proved themselves incapable of dealing with macroers. I'm just suggesting the practice of ISK for cash be legitimized.

I think this is bad because it would mean " He who has the biggest RL wallet, Wins." Which sucks enough that its true in the real world. But atleast here in Eve its an even playing field. ITs hpw much time and effort you put into things that really show results.
They should Ban the trade of TC's for isk.

You wrong. The beauty of Eve is that biggest ISK ( or RL) wallet don't mean a lot, unless your idea of the "win" is parading in a faction BS around noob system

that was just a PR stunt, dude didn't actually pay $100k. he paid some amount of cash that I forget, and a huge amount of in-game money, and since the game sells real money at a given exchange rate, the marketing wizards said "hey if we convert all this to a RL money value then it makes it look like people are spending absurd amounts on this game so we can get tons of press attention"

I really hope it's a "downtime delusion" but it does look like the next logical step. I belive CCP would be against the idea but is trying fix a problem with the best of intentions and has spawned this bastardized system that can lead us no where good. _ ____ _______ _________________________________________________________

Did you not do a post where you took a 11 million sp character, with a 4.2 security status, and a Domi. Killed off some micro miners. And think you did a comunity service.
That is a sure sign of buying a character from either ingame or e-bay to me.
It has taken me almost a year to raise from -4.8 to 2.0. So I know I would not do that to any of my characters. edit: I did not say there was'nt a demand. I said your thread is a wing dinger of a bad idea.

ducky fuzz went from -10 to 0.5 in a couple months, maybe less. he used to sit in beke in a raven and gank people all day, then he went off to fountain or something for npcing and fixed his sec surprisingly fast.

Groups mining in a belt, most having the same ship, all belong to npc corps, all about the same birth date. So, if CCP would just let us declare against people in npc corps the problem would be solved. Blow them up, they get new stuff, blow them up they get new stuff. It would be like shooting npc rats.
Please keep to the topic and keep stupid (yes stupid) ideas out of here. Your idea is a newbie griefers wet dream.
I don't think you should be so quick to call other people ideas stupid, not with this thread to your name.
I'm sorry, you contributed what? Why is it stupid? I named valid benefits.
1) more profit for CCP 2) More fun for players 3) Macroers a thing of the past.
Name me the downsides please?
1) Less profit for CCP since many people would give up because of totally stripped roid belts. 2) More fun only for those profiting in rw dollars. The rest of us are screwed my this moronic idea. 3) Macroers thrive because now it is allowed.
Why do you want this game to go down the tubes? The only answer I can see is because you are in a position to profit greatly. Maybe YOU are one of THEM? Stellar Products and Quality Resources ticker: SPQR established 6-03 |

I firmly believe that isk should only be obtainable through in game activity. I have no respect whatsoever for those that buy in game items with RL cash.
You say that. But why is it wrong? I've yet to see it articulated.
OK - for me personally its because unlike in RL in game we all started with the same start and opportunities. We are all here playing a game and those that have done well have done so primarily as a function of how well they have played the game.
To introduce an official in game items shop destroys that. Ok, some bad players who are unable to support their in-game activity with in-game isk making have survived by buying on the black market but they risk losing their accounts if found out and I doubt that any of the 'big' players in Eve are supporting themselves this way. In addition - most long term players will lose respect for any player they find out to be doing this.
So, my problem with an official 'shop' is that the rules of the game become 'how much RL cash do you have and how much are you willing to spend on Eve' rather than 'how good are you at playing the game'.
Of course, to a degree this imbalance already exists - there is a black market - but to replace this black market with an official one would be to shift this imbalance so far in the wrong direction I feel the game would lose a lot from it.

C'mon folks, stop being so Naive.
On the first 2 pages of the sell orders forums people have put up 20 billion ISK worth of GTC's for sale. Most have been sold.
Roughly thats $2,800 to $3,800 somebody has shelled out to make ISK.
Now if your stance is "If this happens to EVE then I'm quitting" then I suggest you cancel your subscription.
It's already happening all around you folks.

Ehm, would this mean I could also sell my isk back to CCP for real life cash ?
I mean I am sure there must be quite a few people out there that have the feeling now that they can always quit the game and then even make some real life money to cover the costs of playing EVE for a year or more.
How do you meet that demand ?

That character is back up by 0.2 from yesterday. Just because you lack the skills isnt my problem.
I've had that character from day 1. It's 9 months old and can use t2 large rails. It took about a month of using it as a gank ship on missions to raise the sec.
You insinuation that its ebayed shows how blinkered and narrow minded you are. People that do things that are beyond your ability are clearly cheating arent they?

Perhaps, but this is besides the point. Fact remains, that in every popular MMO people are buying and selling virtual goods for real cash. Total estimated market worth somewhere 2 billion dollars. Some peeps owns a farming companies and outsource farming to China and Vietnam. There are professional gamers who make living by playing games. There are professional game developers who make living by making or hosting the games. To be honest, I don't see any problem with any of it. Ultimately, it's all about demand. And you can't decrease the demand by hunting the suppliers.

This will kill eve, all it will mean is that rich players do what ever they want, eve should be about eve not who can make the most cash in rl.
If you do this the next step will be to sell isk for rl cash, and once that happens eve will be floded with macro miners, This will be the death nail in eves cofin.

Why everyone fears an abstract rich idiot who will win the game because he have a lot of isk? Besides what constitutes a "win" in Eve? How you can possibly win in Eve? By killing someone? That's weird, because idiot can kill nobody, but imagine the pleasure of killing rich idiot and knowing that he just lost $500 worth of ship and equipment. Brains always > ISK.

there's more player conflict in EVE than just ship combat. what happens to the market when the people who buy UO castles for $2000 realize that they can dump some cash into timecards and get enough isk to buy a license to print isk in the form of a T2 bpo?
the T2 bpo prices were already extremely high and now they're going into the range where it would take over a year of nonstop production to make back your initial investment.

The situation is simple:
(1) Items are in demand
(2) Those items take a lot of time and effort to aquire
(3) Some people value their real-life time such that (2) is a disincentive
(4) Some people need to buy rice for their children
Some of those in (3) are prepared to pay those in (4) in order to do (2) with the intention of providing (1). Unless you stop items being in demand or stop those items requiring lots of real-time/effort to aquire, there will be a real-life market for game goods in exchange for hard currency.
It's part of the economy of the future. It will happen eventually. CCP can fight it all the way if they want but there are billions of poor, potential macro miners out there and imho it's a losing battle. CCP should embrace it and maybe make some hay while the sun shines.
Now on another related point, how many of you absolutely love the idea of really hurting someone when you pop their ship? Ahhhhhhh. Thought so. I'm suprised you dislike the idea of killing someones $30 Apoc.
But first, I think we should invite Parliament to legislate. It's a legal minefield.
