I just made a market selling of Isogen I had in my Ferox. I accepted the buying price of 131.00 isk per unit with a smile on my face. Imagine how my face looked when a message of the markget being rebooted flashed and I watched my hard earned Isogen just disappear and nothing was deposited in my account.
Ok, so I try to petition in the game. Then I learn after getting a message after petitioning of SOMETHING WENT WRONG. Great, looks like this must be rocket science after all.
Then my ship takes like 3 minutes to undock. I fly back 7 jumps to my mining area and the market is truely down. Ok, so I can't do anything in the market, time to change ships and go rat hunting. So I dock, change ships and try to undock and get, for 5 minutes, just a black screen with the music playing. I hit ctrl - q and exit out.
I log back into the game with the ship in space, cool, things might be ok now. Get to the stargate and my ship runs into the starget ( Literally ) and I hear "warping" 3 times.
If you hear a strange sound in the far distance, just relax, it's just me beating my head against my desk.
I just work as a system engineer and I truely enjoy reading how CCP has placed several "hotfixs" up and they just blow up in their faces. Looks like they need to find new QA folks.
I hope CCP will relieze that if you waste folks time, you'll just loose customers. I have no idea how many customers are from the united states but if it is sizeable, please, never, never place large changes around the holidays. You'll just **** players off.
I hope they are rolling back the hotfixes as I type. I suppose I'm out of time and effort with my mining efforts for today. Great game CCP...

Gray thats not constructive critisime and i really hope that ccp dont think like you. The man is right however in the last 8 months server props/ lag issues has gone from bad to worse. There is something broken in the state of island it seems.
A few sugestions:
1. stop getting more people on trial account for the moment. 2. maybe stop putting resources on new mods/ships etc and use them on the coding/servers etc 3. MORE POWER buy the biggest meanest super computer you can get you hands on and then connect it to a nuclear power plant and light it up

Lets See ....
You know the current "Maximum Users"
You know the "current system bottlenecks and resource overheads"
And you still can't deploy a patch without putting us back 3 years .... wots that word ..... ahh testing ....

Seriously though these hotfixes lately have been messing up the server big time, maybe the devs should test them on a mini model of TQ first to be sure.. thats at least what I would have done.

Actually guys, I'm pretty certain they _do_ test stuff. Problem is when you start doing code optimization, it's very often the case that it doesn't have a noticable impact until it's 'under load'.
And unfortunately, 'under load' is a state you only get on Tranquility.

Lunas-
I agree with you, the issue IS indeed, an issue that needs to be fixed, but it's not half as bad for EVe (which has a HUGE playerbase) as it is for games with smaller player pops, more servers, and "better"/bigger companies behind them *coughSOEcough*
My point is, everyone running to the forums screaming "OMG OMG Go die!" really isn't constructive or helpful either, it's something that everything involving communications deals with sometimes. I know when we implement changes here at work (Why I'm forumwh**ing so much), they do NOT go over well for at least a month, and we have gear down on a pretty consistent basis. Granted it gets fixed (it's our job), but still. Electronics don't like changes for some reason.
Not to mention it seems like CCP is still using the original servers from release, which must be, what, 5 or 6 years old? Granted, that's on them to fix, but they've stated they're in the process of doing it.
Needless to say, since I got off point, the "You suck CCP" crap doesn't help. Everyone is suffering the same (me moreso, I'm stuck at work. :/), so why complain like it's only you (and by you I mean those screaming and ranting).
And yeah, I did sound a bit harsh there. A bit of my SOE Victim side kicked in. That's a heartless Gray. :P ________________ <- Hates Whiners and people with generally crappy attitudes. Does not play well with morons. |

How about, and this is something no one may have come up with before .. put the patches on the test server we can all log into without wiping out the entire game and going ... opps ...
I don't care whats happening in 6 months if the game is unplayable now ...
There is no excuses ..... either correct you patching procdure to the live servers or change it to a two step intergration ...

wat a day. First off, I finally can afford/fly an osprey (wich was my main goal the three weeks Ive played)
got ot from some nice guys In the corp I tried applying for, wich sounded like an amazing corp with decent ppl wel within my point of interests.
Then it starts. I use forever to get to my mining op in my newly bought osprey- to much lag/wierd bugs going on.
While struggeling to get there, the corp I applied for told me that I was to suspecious to let into the corp (after two days of appling/screenshots of all i had etc journals/wallet) simply, it turns out its because I joined a fresh corporation started 12 days ago. So I respect their decision if they do think Im a risk bcause of that making me an "obvious alt?!?!?!?"
Then shortly after being notified on the decision, Im booted off the server, and canot log in at all with my chars. Betya Ill lose the osprey the kind member of that corp sold me for a NICE price I could afford, along with the nice decent cargo expanders he threw in for free.
even more, Ill bet you now that my application are turned down on being to high a "risk", I wont be able to buy it once more if it is indeed lost.
assumptience aside - - pls mr. dev's, fix it quick?!?

I'm afraid that although I'm sure CCP are doing their best to rectify the current problems, the fact remains that we are all paying to play this game. This fact alone entitles us to be able to complain when what we are paying for either isn't available or is in such a poor state that it is, in effect, unavailable.
I really don't like complaining about this current situation but its the latest in a long line of problems and I'm starting to feel like a beta tester.
If its a hardware thing then get some new stuff in that can cope with the load. If its a code problem then find some way of effectively testing before rolling it out.
Every month many organisations take their little cut of my salary for the service they provide to me - the difference is that when I turn on my light or when I turn on my tap or when I turn on my heater they all work...all the time. Now, when I try to log onto EVE...

No. This fact entitles you to be able to play, subject to the terms of the EULA which states explicitly that sometimes there'll be problems.
Nothing, EVER, could *entitle* you to complain. That CCP allow you to, is entirely in their gift.

They have said they're getting (or have) the new servers, and are in the process of working them in somehow. I'm not an IT specialist, so I quit reading at the jargon.
They're probably trying to optimize the code to work BETTER with the new servers, but that requires implementing, which sometimes screws with other code and whatnot. I think that's what the hotfixxes actually are, bits of code optimization. But anyway, they test it (I'm sure, you never jam fresh code into anything untested), but they can't really get results with bots like they do with varied pings/paths/players bases and all. So they test it, it tests good, they plant it in. It breaks, they yank it and fix it. Sure this sucks, but the only true way to test something like netcode optimization is to plant it on a server and cram people doing stuff onto it. ________________ <- Hates Whiners and people with generally crappy attitudes. the guys are doing everything they can and proberly more to fix it.. the best way to make sure something works is to throw it out there and see what bugs people find then fix them.. its that simple.. u cant simulate anything with bots etc as there programmed do certain stuff RL players dont.. name me one bot that will do half the crazy stuff we would do while in eve.. lol good to see the mods and devs doing there jobs and keep us all informed
so fix the fix then everyone can stop moaning and go sit in there little corner of space again
