The server didn't crash, it looks to have been a routing issue.

Same thing happened to me. Submitted a question on it. We might get an answer tomorrow timeframe. "It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first." -- Ronald Reagan |

All I know is that this is one of those times that having that 2nd network connection enabled in London (with the AS-Path prended buys) could have saved us all alot of headache.

Look who is talking.
Anyway. On topic, should we gather some new mice for the server room?

We're investigating the temporary outtage. When we find out what the cause was, we'll post the information.
For those wondering how far this outtage extended, CCP staff were not able to connect to the servers based in London through the normal office connection or the VPNs that some staff have.
More information, SoonÖ.

i lost my ship when i logged back in, warped me 15 km off the gate into 4 hostiles >_>
needless to say i am dead, i dont want to whine about the loss, just wanna know is this petitionable or not. Lost the ship pretty much due to the fact that server went down but no i had no lag or whatsoever when they killed me
Just tell me if i should bother to petition or not

From time to time, Murphy's Law affects nearly everything. Today, Murphy stuck his finger in a hardware swap for the TQ servers.
A while back, the server hardware went through some upgrades and all the equipment was labelled. As it turns out, one of the Tranquility gateway routers was labelled incorrectly.
During a hardware swap this evening, the mislabelled TQ gateway router was pulled. Needless to say, mayhem broke loose in London and in Iceland as TQ disappeared from the internet. It took only a few moments to notice and reinstall the card, but by then, the damage had already been done.
The equipment has been relabelled and verified, so the chances of this happening again are slim. We are investigating who labelled the equipment for a flogging with a wet noodle. Not sure whether we want to use spaghetti or lasagne noodles though.
Apologies about the lost connectivity caused by this. Losses will be reimbursed pending verification, so don't try to petition a loss of a faction battleship when you were flying around in a shuttle.
