I played wow for many months in the euro version .. And i can honestly say it sucks ass. Eve = PvP, you can shoot everyone where ever you want whenever you want(if you dont care about concord), You can claim an area and defend it .. you can take over someone elses area.
WoW = PvP, You can attack the enemy at specific places, and on some servers you can only do it at Battlegrounds that are almost never up on those servers. You cant claim any area.
In eve the devs are actually active on the forums and in the game(remember when tomb was watching SA gang hunting CA, and watching a huge fleet battle between SA and CA the same day)
In wow they didnt have a single Dev to post on the euro forums, they did the occasional post on American forums. --------------------------------------------- Everything i post is bull**** and in no way represent my corp or alliance. |

Well, I'd claim that Friends and Teamwork are the most important factor in PvP no matter what you play as long as you're talking about going up against worthy adversaries and not just killing someone because thei're weaker then you...

2 words for WOW, Level Limit
1 Word for eve itssogoodthatyoudonteveneverwanttogobacktoplayinganothergameinyourlifeyoustupidwowplaying peoplewhocantthinkforthemselvesandwantthedevstodoeverythingforthem.
i played WOW for a while, it was fun, it would be better as a singleplayer game though because you dont really do much multiplayer wise, all i could see people doing in wow when i played was hunting animals and doing quests. I was really exited one day, i was called to help in a fight against a Horde invasion of our capital city, there were at least 40 of them, i was fearing for my life until i relaised they cant even attack me unless i attack them first! EXCELLENT IM INVINCIBLE! i thought, the attack lasted 10 mintes and they were all killed by an NPC in the city... an NPC i mean come on!!!!!!
long story short, if you want a fantasy game where you get to kill things and do quests... play fable, it rocks WOW anyday, EVE is just *has a heart attack while thinking of all the wonderfull things to say about it*

EVE and WoW are kind of the same to me in many ways I cannot avoid overlooking.
In both games, it's not always possible to tell when a player is losing.
In WoW, you may never grasp that you have lost because there no input whatsoever from the players in divining the teleology of their actions.
In EVE, it may take some time logging in at your safespot for a few minutes each day for two weeks hoping for the perpetual gatecamp to be clear at 5AM in the morning before it dawns on you: You're stuck in limbo because you're logical faculties won't let you self-annihilate. You're stuck in limbo because you haven't succeeded in the realm of appeasing enough people to have enough actual friends to make a difference. You're stuck in limbo because your ego won't let you do or enjoy anything useful in empire. And finally, you're stuck in limbo because CCP has carebearishly neglected to give your superior enemy the tools to hammer home the point that you have lost.
Also, both games are very carebearish where neither game requires groups of people to actually risk anything of irreplaceable (but potentially recapturable) value to make a profit. Also, nobody ever scrabbles from debt to debt without voluntarilly electing to put themselves in that position.
Objectively, EVE is the more innexpensive form of ritualistic self-abuse, but objective arguements fall by the wayside compared to solipsistic arguments: We play EVE and not WoW; EVE is better because we play it, and we feel you should agree because you're our friend and we like you for that reason - and because we believe the world is perfectable.

If they like to PVP i'd tell them to stay the hell out. If agent running and mining is good for them thats different...
The way EVE is built you have no chance of hell being competitive in PVP after LONG months of training ship skills only and if you do that then you have marginal chance of surviving versus 30+mill odd combat characters..
Thats a challenge for the devs tho.. how to get new players until saturation point arrives (word gets out, staring new toons is pretty much useless) and not lose veteran players from character devaluation? (ie. new players becoming "too quickly" competitive to veteran players).
Did CCP paint themselves into the corner?

Eve is a one big world, while WOW is not one world. We have these shards, or whatever they call them, then we have US servers, and European servers, and players are playing in a few different worlds. Not in a ONE SINGLE WORLD like Eve. That's what so great about Eve.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, it is hard to compare the difference between Eve and WoW. IMHO, they are different beasts that are catered for different market. WoW is like going to a fun fair to play beat the mole game and EvE is, erm..., is a more serious game? ----------------

You play WoW for a certain time; you take a break for, say, 3 months; when you go back, save for some patch, the world is exactly the same. Nothing has changed. You can do the exact same things in the exact same place you did before your break.
You play EVE for a certain time; you take a break for, say, 3 months; when you go back, save for some patch, you go 'like, WTF!?!??'. Nothing is the same. An alliance that seemed about to rule everything has crumbled due to internal bickering. The underdog over there has grown tougher and it is kicking everybody's arse. Some small merc corporation has just ruined an alliance 10 times bigger by infiltrating it and wiping their coffers clean. POS wars have messed the price of X; region Y has been pacified and mineral Z's price went down by 10%; your corp fly rights in region A have been revoked and you are KOS there...
WoW is a game; EVE is a living, breathing world.

WoW and Eve are both great for me.
One is fantasy, one is science fiction, total different ends of the string which complements each other well.
It's the Gawd-damn technical issues like prolong loading and frequent disconnects in Eve that makes me so sad.

Both games have their Strengths. Best thing to do is just give them the 2 week trial, tell them to play it, and then let them decide on what to do when they run out of time. ______________________________

I don't see any strength about WoW.
I've tried it many times, and gotten bored out of my mind within 20 minutes.
Its a horrible piece of crap dumbed-down leveling MMORPG with an incredibly stupid player population (some exceptions, but few), horrible quests, and PvP that makes me puke.

That doesn't work in games like Wow. losing all your items is like losing EVERY SHIP and EVERY ITEM you have in eve, in every hanger on every ship. -----------------------------------

I know. I played Earth and Beyond. That is BECAUSE you don't lose them.

Besides, the fact you don't lose anything when you die in WoW isn't what's bad, but the fact that you can only fight your default enemies, have no reason to fight them other then gaining points, and can't do anything to create your own agenda...

Well the reason there's nothing to fight for is because:
1) You cannot hurt your enemy. 2) You cannot get loot from your enemy. - Proud member of the [23].

I would rather play morrowind than WOW. I truly don't consider other mmo's as realy online.
Eve is the only true online game. It is in a way as the Movie "THE MATRIX" If u die in game it hurts in real life. once u log on u apear and have your say in eve's history.
lvl 1 guy has a chance to beat lvl 100 guy in eve. even 1v1. As another guy sad if u take a break from eve and come back after a month u see in corp chat: Suleyman: Death don't undock; Dealve has been lost Deathfighter: WTF i thought we owned it....

I actually thought WoW felt more like a gutted version of Morrowind than anything else.
Originally by: Noriath Well, that's not entirely correct. There is a ladder system in place in WoW that allows people who compete in PvP often to acquire special armor and weapons, as well as titles for themselves.
But who the hell cares? PvP for frags and colored trophies isn't PvP. - Proud member of the [23].
