OK, for most of my EVE life now i have been training to become specilized in an Interceptor, the Crow, now after finally getting to a stage when i am not flying around in a n00by ceptor, would it be worth me still training more skills for my Crow, or go for something like a Taranis looks pretty nice and everyone is always going on about the uber dmg they do for a frig.
And anybody have any good stats on what the Crow has a good chance of winning vs the other ceptors.
BTW i have gone for a rocket Crow.

well, since the new interdictors seems to be in the same line as the interceptors, you might want to look into that... they seem very very nice

caldari ceptors are good as they can do full tackles (i.e. mwd, web and scram), whereas most other combat ceptors only have 2 mid slots.
I would recommend the stilleto if you really want to go for tackling support (4 mids ), and the ranis will be even better with the drone buff. Other than that, stick with the kessie on steroids.

Rocket plated crows are just about the best general inty fittings going, its all apples and pears really, crows, taranis and claws are prettymuch top untill next patch

I say the crusader is the most uber inty ever. The only reason I say this is because I trained in Amarr frig 5, and have too many skills to train in atm to train in another frig 5 skill. Anything I have trained is the best. If you dont believe me, train it up yourself and behold its awesome power!!!

Edited by: Leon 026 on 12/12/2005 23:33:12 Post patch though, I got a feeling that the Interdictor can do an interceptor's job, but better, minus the larger sig radius of 90m instead of 27'ish, but it comes with a warp scrambling bubble and the ability to smack things out of the sky. Would inties be rendered as the new "poor man's interdictor", or be downgraded to a more of a dogfightinger?
Speaking of which, is that "stealth" module coming out next patch where it lowers your sig radii? ------------------------------- Would you like cheese with your whine?

For general milling around and non-stop action a crusader is very very good... My record is 40 L2 missions in one sitting (a few hours using multiple agents in the same station). The only time you need to change the fittings is for the mission where you have to recover 150m3 of containers.
[Why do L2 missions? You cycle them until you get 'going beserk' then pop the commander for a 50 mil ISK implant. Don't worry, this is in the patch notes for a recode next boot.]
With the lens, dual light beam accuracy, ab, and decent over all fittings, it can do silence the informant before more than one extra rat frigate appears on stage 2.
I like the crow, but I'm a patch behind on skills like warhead upgrade, etc etc... |

Edited by: Maya Rkell on 13/12/2005 03:10:25 Right now? Claw. No question.
Afterwards? Well, I'd hestitate before I recomended anything as small as an interceptor, but the Tarranis shouldn't be alltogether bad (and that's the most glowing recomendation I could give, unfortunately, at this point).
PS, the plate nerf is VERY VERY much overstated. It's other factors which are dropping the bar on smaller ships.

What are those?
and why will the ranis be better post patch than the rest?

Haha know what you mean mate. But in all seriousness, I've found the Crusader to be an excellent ship. It all depends on what you're looking to do with it, as each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses (cliche but true). Do a little more research, and don't be too swayed by what people 'swear by', EVE is ever changing so I'd recommend going with the ship that suite's your style.

"Why is everyone so excited about RMR Taranis?"
It was already top performance interceptor, and now with drone changes it can do all sorts of nasty little trick with them, on top of that.
... would be my guess, anyway ^^;;

Taranis has 625hp (with skills +750hp) hull and with damage controls +60% hull res thats like 400mm tugnsten plate without speed/mass penalty and it wont require MAPC or other fitting modules.

Care to elaborate on that?
Only factor I see dropping them is the fact that interdictors will wtfbbq anything frigate sized. But since there won't be interdictors absolutely everywhere (yet), I assume there's something else too.

I like my crusader and my malediction. Its easy to beat other inties with them but I would advice you to take the "easy" inties and go with a taranis.

I like the plated rocket crow: 3 * rockets II, nos mwd, web, scram 2 * MAPC, 400 nano
After the patch, I guess the 400 will be to heavy, so a 200 with armor rep perhaps. But as already said, the Taranis will probably be the king after the patch.

Edited by: LUKEC on 13/12/2005 10:22:50 in inty world... 85% pilot skills, 5% setup, 5% ship, 5% luck
Probably best ballanced class.
Just to add, while most races have one sucky and one excellent inty, amarr have 2 average. Well minmater have one excellent and one which is excellent in its role, but sux for everything else.

For me, a good ceptor needs to have two attributes:
1. A range window in which it will always win (through damage, tanking or a combination of both).
2. The ability to enforce that range.
The Crusader (and to a lesser extent the Claw) fulfills both of these criteria, and therefore when well-piloted can kill any other ceptor in the game. The limit to their ability is your own piloting skill.
On the other hand, the Taranis fulfills the first criterion but not the second. It is wonderful in some situations, but there are other situations where you will *always* die (unless your opponent is an imbecile). The ability of the Taranis is limited by the situation rather than your piloting skill. ----------------------------------------
