It may have been the name? Being named after a creature that pounces on you from all side in a pack and then proceeds to rip you to shreds is offputting to girls I don't date
But you have my commiserations mate. Just don¿t hit the pleasure hubs in an effort to forget.

No, you wrong. That's VELOCiRAPTOR. I'm just a poor spelling mistake (ya hear jen?)
I heard there was a striper club in a POS they made some time ago. Got to find that
Also, in a futile effort to get this back on topic: @remedial: It was still a prob for me an hour ago when i logged. Especially with 2 accounts running. However rest assured that if many ppl get this (which they do), ccp will notice sooner or later. Keep the faith ppl

Edited by: Gavin Kineli on 18/12/2005 07:44:34 From what you guys have said, I'm not sure you guys know what a memory leak is.
Anyway - what you've described happens to me. Eve will climb to 250MB memory usage and 400MB Virtual Memory usage, during which time, eve will be unresponsive. A couple minutes later, the memory will drop down to normal levels 20-50MB mem usage and 300MB Virtual mem usage, and eve is playable again.
Soon I'll do a logserver of it, and I'll send it off.

My client started with 188 MB RAM used. It does increase from time to time up to 200+ MB that I have seen so far but everytime I use a jump gate, the memory is cleared back to 188 MB and increase up to 200+ MB again and stays between 188 MB to 200 MB. I have been hauling in a badger all day making about 50+ jumps just to check it out.
What is the *32 in the EvE.exe*32 under the task manager? ----------------

Accidentally left EVE running, stationary outside a station, woke up 5 hours later to find it using all available system RAM (i have 1GB) and 1.2GB of virtual memory. Took about 10 minutes to close EVE and a firther five to get it to reboot.

Are you guys with memory problem by any chance using 64-bit Windows or 64-bit CPUs? ----------------

usually 150 to 300mb ram in use per client, atm 192 and 206
1.5gig ram helps tho to keep the system abit stable ________________

Using an Athlon XP ever since I started playing EVE. It's ALWAYS had a memory leak, which various patches have either helped or worsened.
I find that if I stay in one system, or reduce the amount of travel I do in a game session, the less the problem has been. If I do a few 20-25+ jump trips in a single game session, the RAM useage of EVE skyrockets.
This memory useage problem was least troublesome directly after the Exodus patch.

Memory usage for me is fluctuating between about 120MB and 220MB depending on what I'm doing and where I am. Haven't seen any leaks yet, though. One thing I have noticed is that although the client seems to be running smoother than pre-upgrade, it's no longer to easy to use other apps at the same time. For example, I used to be able to use Firefox with no problems, now it seems very sluggish if EVE is also running.

Yeah, I feel the same thing after RMR as well. Had EVE drop to some where near 1FPS yesterday, got a bit better after I closed most other programs.
I was guessing the server has thrown some calculation to client side, or increased client buffer to help reduce server-client traffic. But it's just a guess. ------------------------------------------- "Death is just the beginning..." |

I am using a 32 bit machine with a 32 bit XP. Not sure whether do you use any other Phyton programs or libraries in your system. Usually, *one of the causes* for memory leaks that is strange (happens on some ppl and not on others) can be caused by program using wrong libraries. Program can still run but may not do the right thing. Not sure it helps for your case but just an idea. ----------------

Heh. Perhaps it's an anti-macro 'feature'. By the end of the day the client crashes... and there's no-one there to restart it.

quick fix-
go to your control panel and set your paging file to 2-5 gig. It'll give you plenty to play on even if all you do is warp around. I think it has something to do with it TRYING to load a HUGE file at once, but not having enough space to move it around... so it just SITS there and takes up space 0o'

I loaded my game around 8PM last night and did many courrier and kill missions. The game started to choke a bit here and there. Usually yes, eve is 250-300 meg of ram use but last night when I logged, I quickly checked and the game alone was eating up 800+ meg, since I only have 1 GIG, it kinda killed my computer for a good 5 min.
anyway, hope it gets fixed but the best solution right now is... close game when it's starting to eat too much and restart it.. If this is not enough, you can use a Memory cleaner to make sure the ram is empty before the restart... else Reboot computer :P
