PVP Setup:
High: 5x 220mm Autocannon II 3x Med Dim Nos
Med: 1x 10MN Microwarpdrive II 1x Faint Warp Prohibitor 1x Fleeting Web 1x ECM - Multispectral II 1x Sensor Booster II, another Multi, med cap booster or another warp disruptor
Lows: Med Rep II 2x EANM II or 1x EANM and 1x Best named DCU or 1x EANM + 1x Gyro II 1x Exp hardener II
4x med T2 or 8x light T2
The DPS isn't huge, but it tanks nicely, rapes enemy cap and kills most things quite nicely. I'd rate the chances for this setup well vs a Deimos or Zealot or something like that.

...me too.
I'm mostly frigate/cruiser pilot, but considering the T2 AC/Nossie set up. anyone else tried the Berserker heavy web drone(-30ms/300ms orbit vel.), and three light? I'm not sure it makes much of a diference to frigates, but cruisers and BSs??

My soon to be Cyclone setup for missions- (hardest thing about this setup is getting the shield power relay T2s, nobody sells them!)
5x 650mm Scouts 3x Arbalest Assault Launchers
ABs 4x T2 Large Shield Extenders
4x T2 Shield Power Relays
No, it doesn't use the cyclone's shield boosting bonus, which is a pitty. But that's not the only bonus a cyclone has. Cyclones have very good natural passive shield regeneration. With my skills, the above setup gives me around 135 shield hp passively regenerated per second, which blows away any medium shield booster, and perma runs unlike large shield boosters. Even when you are in a fight where you're taking more dps than you're regenerating, you've got until they eat through over 12k hits of shields to kill enough to get things under control. The cyclone is the biggest ship that takes a real gain from shield extenders, as they don't get bigger than large. :P
The arts destroy anything at range, and the assault launcers + drones destroy any frigs that get too close, the ABs allow for better loot pick-up. :P
disclaimer- Untested, have another day or two before I finish training for the power relays, and still have to find somebody selling them. Purpose is also purely for PvE, no idea how it would go in PvP, I'm still a virgin.

Just a short Question: Why use 220mm instead of 425mm?

As far as I know the ROF and tracking speed of the 220mm more than compensates for any loss in DP choosing it over the 425. Also there's a power grid factor.
What I want to know is why people mix a long range set up (Heavy Missles) with a short range set up like 220mms? I know from mixing 180mm and 220mm with assault launchers that under 14K I might as well turn the launchers off for all the DP they do.

IMHO: 1) Higher Damage 2) In some cases this will aloow you to destruct big but slow enemy out of his range/

It's not "mixing." Heavy missiles will do damage at 0km to 50km, and they'll do more damage than assaults on top of it. Mixing would be using artillery with assaults or autos with artillery.

nevermind my uber passive shield tank plan, aparently the reason I haven't seen any T2 shield power relays for sale, is that they're not in-game yet despite being on the equipment list, and in quickfit. :P
Some day in the future. The whole fit depends entirely on them being T2, you simply can't do it without them.
My current Cyclone fit is
4x 220mm scout ACs 2x Arb Assault Launchers 2x Medium Knave vampires
Named Microwarpdrive Large Shield Booster T2 2x named hardeners, EM and Thermal being generic setup Fleeting Webifier
2x PDS T2 2x Nanofibers (are T2 nanofibers not out yet either? wanted some, couldn't find any for sale)
I cruise at about 260 m/s with decent manueverability for a cyclone, and the nanofibers help accellerate into microwarp a lot. My damage is good enough that I prefer the nanos over Gyros, but if I find damage becoming a real problem, I'd swap them.
In general I like it. Good damage inside 10km, decent cap management with the vamps and pds's, good shield boosting and resistance, and good ability to stay in range. Just wish I could have put my large shield extender T2s on there, I miss those. :(

Thought i'd ask about the setup thats on my Cyc atm , it's never been used as u usually fly Cruisers and frigs the Cyclone is just sat there in hangar thought i might take it for a spin soon...
Highs : 5 x 220mm II's 3 x Med Nos.
Mids : 1 x 10mn MWD 1 x Web 1 x 7.5km Scram 1 x Large Shield Ext. II 1 x Large Shield Booster II
Lows : 2 x PDU II 2 x Gyro II
As i said , i've never actually flown this ship and being in a 1 man corp haven't been able to test it out properly , i'd imagine against Amarr ships shields might buckle quite quick ? I have BC lvl 5 so i'm expecting the SB II to rep quite a bit of shields , i hunt solo so thats the reason for the web + scram , mwd to get to targets quicker and in range for my guns to work nicely.
The use of NOS is obvious , and i haven't forgot to load 4 Med Drones either . So is this a really bad setup ? Half decent setup or ......? I was trying to think of a different setup using hardeners to make use of the Cyc's booster bonus but being solo you have to do alot of work yourself and so sacrifice mids for tackling so couldn't think of any . Keep flames to minimal plez

yep, big hole in EM, I'd swap the Extender for an EM hardener
maybe swap a PDU for another Gyro
your nos will run the booster no problem

eh .. i tryed a lot of setups but noone is good enought to say wow ... i have allways problems in lev 3 missions .... i already lost 3 cyclones .... i don't know ... or this ship is crap or i'm doing something wrong. First i tought i don't have enought skills... then i do some mining and skill gunnery and other skils for help me in missions .. but ...
well i have 3,7 milions SP in gunnery .. i have medium artilery and autocannons specialisation on lev 3 ... i use t2 220mm autocannons or 650mm t2 artilery but ...
first i useed autocannons but i allways rune out of cap so i couln't boost my shields .. i used PDUs, CAP recharges .... i had to run away a lot of times .. i tryed 3 medium nos t2 ... but i lost my ship anyway .... well let's forget short range .. i like more artilery i have more luck with it.
My curently setup is 5x 220mm t2 artilery , 3x malkuth assault launchers, 4 medium drones ----- on med i have 10mn AB II , Large shield booster t2, on other three i use hardeners i need, some time target painter, shield amplifier ... on lows i use 2x gyrostabilizers t2 and 2x tracking enchanters t2 .... for ammo i use depends on enemy .. (emp M, phased plasma M, fusion M, titanium sabot M) ... this setups preaty well ... i have some dificulties in dedspace area becouse of gate i can't jump on my preferite distance (40 - 60km) ... i didn't lost my ship yet with this setup ... for frigates wich get too close i use drones and missiles .. but i'm not happy with my damage ... where are 3,7 milions of SP in gunnery ... i try to stay in optimal range but my guns delas from 50 do 170 damage ... most of the time ... 90 - 120 .... my friend deals equal damage with ferox with his missiles ... and he started to play eve 2 months ago ... wtf ?? how much damage 650mm t2 artilery can deal ? what i'm doing wrong ? my fight tactic is wrong ? i don't know what to do ... my BC skil is on lev 3 ... but i don't see a fighing future in this ship .. i will go on BS ... or i'm wrong?

Edited by: Roland 99 on 09/05/2006 14:46:40 Lower SP setup for profitiable ratting in 0.0
5 720's Gallum's or prototypes if you can find them 2 assault launchers 1 tractor beam ( not a fast ship makes looting cans a dream) if you cant use the tractor add another assault launcher.
1 large shield booster (II if you can fit it) 1 large shield extender 1 shield boost amp ( with the bonuses on this ship, you can booost like 20% a tick) 2 Active hardners ( depending on what kind of rats youre carebearing )
Drone bay full of hammerheads for those pesky friggies
Lows are a mix of damage mods, cap relays, etc. At lower SP's you may hit the ceiling on CPU usage so a co processor may be necessary. If youre having fitting issues step down to 650's or AC's

Here is what I have been using for level 3 mission running.
High 2x 720mm Prototype Artillary 3x 220mm Prototype Autocannons 2x Arbalest Heavy Launchers 1x Med Nos (or tractor beam) Med 1x Large Tech 2 Shield Booster 1x X5 Webifyer 3x Active Hardners (depends on mission) Low 1x Named Damage Control (forget the one i used) 1x Sensor Amp 2 2x PDUs
Yes I know its a mixed setup and i will probobly get some grief on it but it hasn't failed me once for my missions. Granted i am use to a split layout from my Typhoon so having mixed guns does not bother me. What this ship allows me to do is to is pull ships from long range in missions and usually kill a few (depending on what they are) before they even get into range. Since the NPCs, even the Battleships in the Extravaganse Bonus missions, like to get to point blank range I have the Autocannons and Webber to chew up anything that dares get close enough. The tank itself allows me to basicly just sit in one place and even when I finally ran out of capacitor (that took a while) I could still maintain about 40% shields long enough to chew up enough of the rats so my shields could catch up.
Now i know this is not a PvP setup and i wouldn't recommend it for PvP. But for missions it works pretty well. On a side not if you expect to get jumped by a PvPer when using this I have found 5 Light ECM Drones to provide enough of a distraction to them to let me put up a good fight even aginst another BC :P

yep I dont get the shield boost bonus but shield modules takes too much slots atleast for solo pvp () :(
Thats what I was finding with this ship, in PvP, you cant have a decent shield tank and solo at the same time (as you need 3 mids for MWD, Web, Scram.) Anyone care to prove me wrong?
So....I bought a Prophecy instead in the meantime.
I'd love to be able to use the Cyclone in PvP solo though, so if anyone has any decent PvP setups, post them here:
Fitting an L or XL (XL requires Dread Guristas + skills or just a coproc to be feasible unfortunately) booster alone is effectively the same as having an amp+booster tank on any other ship, or as far as your active tanking capabilitys go about 80 hp/sec or 2 med reppers. That qualifys as more or less decent, add an invulfield 2 or racial hardener if its a no-EW duel or something silly.
In other words, for solo PvP ditch one multispec if you're on the offense (MWD/web/scram/booster/multi), no propulsion mod for purely defensive battles and no webber for engaging BCs or BS.
Sure, the lack of absolute versatility makes it an unfavorable boat for long 0.0 trips, but thats not something I'd pick up any battlecruiser at all for. However as an excellent crowd-controlling machine the Cyclone is gorgeous and beats out the other Battlecruisers.

If you're going solo I would absolutely advise armour tank with heavy EW in mids. Is just a lot more reliable than trying to shield tank and catch stuff. If you're in a gang can't go past a shield tank + gank.
For a solo:
5 x 220mm 3 x Nos
1 x MWD/AB 1 x 20km 3 x Mids to play with
1 x Med rep 2 x EANM 1 x whatever (gyro or as large a plate as you can fit, I like gyro)
For your mids, you have quite a few options. However you have to build this around the fact that your tank is not the greatest, so I'd suggest heavy ECM or perhaps a cap booster. I can't really tell you what to put there it all depends on your style and what you want to go after. With decent enough skills it's very possible to take on BS with it. Obviously MWD/AB + scram are given, after that you have 3 mids. cap booster, ECM, webs depend on your target. Don't expect to be able to fit a cyc that will hunt frigs/cruisers and BS easily at the same time (though 3 x multispec + scram + ab/mwd does ok)
For gang work or PVE can't go past a shield tank.
AC ganker (gangs)
5 x 425mm 3 x Nos
1 x Lg boost 2 x Invuln 1 x Cap boost 1 x Whatever (amp/sensor boost/ab/w'ever)
2-3 x Gyro 1-2 x Whatever
PVE dunno, never flown the Cyc in PVE. I would guess arties with assaults for close stuff and a shield tank (rat-specific hardeners, generally advise against invulns) with gyros and fitting mods in the lows. Doesn't seem that complicated.
General tip: Don't snipe in PVP, you're better off with a tempest + 6 wcs or a Ruppie (by level 5 a ruppie does same DPS + alpha as a cyc with projectiles).

I ain't pvp'd in this ship, so i don't have any setups for that.. but pve this is what i've been doing.
5 x 720mm howies 3 x heavy missile launchers
1 x Tech 2 Med SB 1 x Shield Boost Amp 2 x rat specific hardners 1 x 10mn AB
3 x pds 1 x nanofiber
Tried that out last night, tanks alright but need to get a large SB to keep up with decent dps. Only using it for solo lvl 3s/occasional co-op lvl 4s, but it kills cruisers quickly enough. I was using
5 x 425mm Acs 3 x Heavy missiles
1 x T2 10mn ab 1 x named med sb 1 x x5 web 1 x large shield ext 1 x invul field
3 x pds 1 x nano
... but it didn't tank so well, but can do some decent dps. Should mabye try that with 3 nos and mabye a MWD. Its a pretty good ship for pve, but a nosing rupture with acs is much much cooler for pvp than the cyclone could ever hope to be :)

Since the 650's got a very nice damage boost I wanted to try them in an all out fast lock/damage/EW build
5 650's 3 heavy launchers
2 sensor boosters 1 tracking computer 2 multispec's
2 gyro II's 1 BCU 1 nano
Puts out a decent amount of damage and jams. No tank whatsoever just blow **** up and warp out >< _______ My pod is filled with beer. Dont make me spring a leak |

Someone long ago said the problem with the Cyc was that you couldn't fit a decent shield tank and web/scram. There is much theoretical truth in this, but in practice what makes the tank is the booster, boost amp and 3xnos combination. I can pretty much just leave the booster on as long as I'm nossing a big enough target...
I can see why the slot layout might tempt people to armour tank it, but it is such a shame to ignore the ship bonuses. Much PvP is fast, furious and close range and you really need damage mods (I use 2x t2 gyros and 2x t2 enhancers) to exploit the sheer wtf potential of t2 a/cs.

I just got my Cyclone a few days ago and so far am only doing PvE. This setup has worked pretty well so far.
High 4x 650mm artillery 2x Heavy Missile Launchers 1x Assault Launcher Medium 2x Cap recharger 2x Shield hardeners 1x Large Shield booster Low 4X Power Diagnostic
3 Hammerhead Drones (Don't have the skills for more )
Like I said, so far this setup has worked, but if anyone would like to point out any enormous errors, it would be much appreciated.

I'm a Cyclone flyer, and I only do missions, therefore my set-up is for PvE only. The setup I have is :- High Slots. 3 x XR-3200 Heavy Missile Launcher 1 x 250mm Railgun 1 x 250mm Compressed Coil Gun 1 x 250mm Prototype Gauss Gun 1 x 702mm Gallium 1 cannon 1 x 220mm Vulcan autocannon (the different weapon ranges let me operate from 2000 metres to 40,000 metres) Medium Slots. 1 x Y-S8 Afterburner 1 x Large Shield Booster 2 1 x Shield Boost Amp. 2 x Large Shield Extender 2 (A shield tank to take advantage of the 5% shield boost for Cyclones) Low Slots. 1 x Photonic CPU enhancer 2 x Power Diagnostic Control 2 1 x Local Power Plant Reaction Control.
This gives me Shield HP of 8891, Armour HP of 3000, and Structure HP of 2625.
I am using 98% of Powergrid 1798 of 1834 and 99% of CPU 572/575
I also have 4 Hammerhead Drones in the Drone Bay.
This set-up lets me do all the Level 3 missions that I have had (so far) without to many problems.
I would be happy for any information on how to improve this set-up.
However, I don't know which option to go for next should I go the HAC route, or the BS route ? As I mentioned earlier I mainly play solo PvE. Any suggestions of which way would be best for Level 4 missions would be greatfully received.

looking for some advice on a setup for the cyclone. been using it for defense against those nasty pirates and agent missions so far. heres what I got.
High 5 220's W/ phased plasma 2 Med NOS 1 SV-2000 assault launcher (still not sure about this slot)
Med 1 10 mn AB 1 Med Tapered Cap Infusion W/200's 1 Fleeting propulsion webber 1 Lg C5-L Emergancy Sheild Booster 1 Shield AMP
Low 1 PDU 1 Emergancy Damage Control 2 Counterbalance weapon mounts.
16 days away from AC's tech 2. so planing on upgrading the 220's soon.
So what do you guys think?

My trusty ratting (serpentis) setup:
5x220mm II (425mm if they fit, I think they do) 3xnamed med nos
1x10mn mwd 1xbest named large shieldbooster 1xboost amp 1xkinetic hardener 1xthermic hardener
2xPDS II 2xGyro II
This setup absolutely minces up to 2x1.25M BS spawns. Even the 2xBC/3xCruiser spawns aren't that hard as you can mwd into their face and eat them up before they can do any serious damage.

Ok I've only been playing for 2 months and with this set-up I can do almost every level 3 mission without warping. The only ones that give me trouble are ones with lots of webbing ints which can be taken care of by switching 1 or 2 launchers to assault.
highs: (ammo depending on mission) 5X720 prototype 3Xheavy missile launchers (whatever you can find/afford) mids: named med booster large shield extender 2X named hardeners (depends on mission) AB lows 4XPDU drones: get 4 med of every damage type and change them along with ammo
Without too much engineering or weapon upgrades skills you can fit this and do almost every level 3 mission without a problem. The ones you will not be able to do easily/at all are: Mordus Headhunters (this can break the tank on a BS), The rogue Slave traders (2 of 2) Downing the slavers (takes me 1 or 2 warps) and the missing reporters line can cause problems with some huge EM/thermal damage. Any angel mission is cake and serpentis' short range and slow speed makes them easy to outrun. Watch out for amarr and blood raiders missions. These can eat your shield tank if you aren't ready for them.

right now my cyclone is weak as hell - I have no support skills to speak of (yet) - so I play with mine doing lv2 missions. currently its fitted with 5x 280T2 arty / 3x arbalest assault. I'm looking for some help on a good PVE set-up.
My current setup is: HIGH 4x425mm AC's 2xNamed Heavy Missile Launchers 1xMed Nos (to keep my cap up)
MID 1x 10m AB 1x Webifier 3x Barton
LOW 1x Med Armor Rep II 3x Hardeners
I've always done armor tanking, and I've tried the Cyclone with shield, but I really, really dislike it, and it just doesn't seem to work for me.
Any ideas?
