An inty or a/f i would say. I rat in 0.0 in my Wolf. can tank a 3 bs spawn np probs.

I have one and it doesnt take much to blow threw the shields and such. Hows yours set up?
I have a Crow but eh i personly rather not take tech 2 into 0.0 tell i got a bit more cash.T2 insurance pays crap
How would a caracel*spelt wrong* fair?

With a speed/range setup, *maybe* youŠll be able to survive. But I donŠt see you breaking a tank in a Caracal... Also slightly dependant on the rats youŠre fighting...

I went ratting with Weirda from my corp. he was in an inty(crusader) and had his armour hardly touched, while dishing out some serious damage.

to be able to kill NPC BS in inty, you would need a blasteranis, or atleast crusader

I rat very successfully in an Enyo, ironically enough more successfully after the patch than before as there is a much wider range of viable targets now. I can take the 1.25 mil Guristas Ravens easily enough using 4 ion blaster IIs and a magstab II, takes a reload though. Damage is never a problem for my tank, super high kinetic resistance really puts a damper on the bloodclaws some of the new BC's spew and the guns don't do much at all.
The only spawns I've found I can't take solo are those elite cruiser spawns that seem to keep me jammed 85% of the time, I just have to bow out gracefully or ask for help on those, no big deal really.
So draw your own conclusions from that about how good AF's are at 0.0 belt hunting :)

inty... sansha rats vs crusader are pathetic...
i was able to pop 4.5mil rat(pre rmr) with crusader with gatlings II and 0 dmg mods. Took a while, but for npcing i'd fit dl pulses and as Weirda suggested, 2x dmg mod and would dish out 140-180dps...

The smallest ship i am able to hunt effectivly with is a AC-Claw w. plates (200's Post RMR)....works very good and is fun against BS-spawns...only problems is the amunition, AC's chew it horribly fast...

An AF is great for 0.0 ratting. The only downside is the small cargo bay, not much room for loot.

The only reason battleships aren't a problem to an AF is because you can evade them, otherwise you'd die very quickly ineed. I would be interested to know how fighting Bloodraiders works out if you get nossed by a bs, would it have as much effect as a player nos I wonder ...could be intersting when you are tanking the smaller ships before getting rid of the battleships. |

Apologies for the misuse of the word tank.
I mean't i can pop a 3 bs spawn no sweat. apart from the insane amount of ammo needed.

AFs really are the bees knees of small ship NPC'ing. It's easier to take on 5 battleship rats than 2 battleship rats + 5 cruisers I find. At least in an Enyo vs Guristas anyway.

True, but with inty you can do it semi - decently... Afs are ok.

Here's the thing,
If you rat in 0.0 in cheap ships, it takes a long ass time, you spend a lot of ammo (if you use ammo), and there's a chance that a frigate comes along, webs you, and kills you. And even then you spent 20 minutes killing a 1.5m isk battleship. Go mine some scordite, hehe.
The whole key is transversal velocity, as long as you keep that up and close range, most NPC bs's cant hit you. I think some NPC's nos now though, eh? Tricky thing is now if you NOS NPC's, they'll eventually stop tanking. You can also jam em. Maybe NPC in a blackbird and use some strategy, and energy based weapons, jammers, nos's. Maybe then you don't have to carry a huge load of ammo, and once you get into the right orbit / jam sequence, you'll live. BB's suck for damage output. I vote a plated blaster-rax.

word.. ac claw is what i use too, although the 400mm plate version is still fine for 0.0 hunting as you still have more than enough speed to evade cruiser and bs hits, its only the frigs you have to watch out for, so pick your fights
