You didn't read the entire thread did you?
Right upto my comment, yes. Also if someone decides to quit a game after being killed once I don't really give a dam and nor should CCP pander to people who give up at the first loss. Live and learn. Don't just give up.
Meh. Pathetic.

One thing I do find rather amusing though, flying though a gate in 0.0 and seeing a load of cans belonging to "The Xyz Corp [XYZ]" and wondering if they got p0wned or were bored and killed a few NPCs at the gate
It's *really* silly to have this in 0.0, but that just my opinion. --

LOL... you have to be kidding me. If luring noobs into a trap is your idea of a tactic and you consider it an accomplished ego feat, then by all means continue... but in my humble opinion, I think I feel more sorry for you than the noob.

How about it stop newbies from trusting random players from local no matter how nice they are? Someone dumb enough wouldn't be too hard to lure low sec "lets go mine valuable ore in 0.2 and make lot $$$ :)" with or without can flagging.
It's quite dumb to trust random guy in local telling how there is free stuff in can when he could just gang and give stuff from can without criminal flagging, if newbies cant or dont want to learn that then there is nothing that can help them.
Can flaggin wasnt ment to stop ore thieves and I bet there is still plenty around, but it was ment to give players more control over it.

OP is a worthless scum bag (ccp- this is fully in character RP)
So hey OP, why don't you convo me. Tell me where you are and I'll grab your can. Then I'll put a couple hundred heavy missles up your ass.
As to the newb that supposedly quit the game. Good riddance. Anyone that is going to quit over a ship loss is not going to like EVE in the long run anyway. Also, I don't care what someone tells you, if a message pops up and says "don't do that or you might get shot" you should probably stop and think about it for a few seconds. Is the guy over there in a big nasty f*$% me up ship? Yes? Then common sense says you should not do it. Honestly people, get a clue.
There is nothing wrong with can flaging. And as a mechanic, there is nothing wrong with greifers using it to pop nubs. The only sad thing is that they actually enjoy it. And that anyone is dumb enough to fall for it.
It's not a matter of trust. It's simply a matter of common sense. If some guy convo's you and says you can have his stuff, FREE. Look the gift horse in the mouth. As a newb, I got stuff free. Even from cans once in a while. But not ever when someone was around to stop me. (they couldn't before RMR, but I didn't know that at the time) But most people that want to help out a newb, they just give isk. Or trade in station. ___________________________________________ The deeper you stick it in your vein, the deeper the thoughts there's no more pain. ___________________________________________ |

All I have seen it muppets trying to get attention by saying "oh look everyone I just managed to kill some noob with my alt"

You don't speak as someone capable of empathy so I'm pretty glad you aren't involved in any New Player Experience initiatives. If Eve were populated only by people like you, it would be a kind of Virtual Hell. Your problem is you think you are tough because you can "take the pain" (whatever that is). You probably prefer to try and give it out though, but only to carefully chosen targets, such as new players, woodland animals and children.
My advice to you and people like you: step away from the Mirror and try looking out of the Station Window.

If you read the original post, you see that its actually the griefer/thief/pain in the ass that want the system removed. I have yet to see anyone else wanting the system removed.

It's not the "carebears" that are suffering, I don't give a rats ass about that. I care about the newbies getting their ships blown up, cause they trust too much, and don't know the mechanics well enough. The carebears that wanted this aren't gonna be fooled by it, now are they. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

He says it there, its not the carebears that are complaining its not the noobs that are complaining.
Bottom line the OP purposely tricked someone who didnt know any better and is still learning this game, I bet most of you here would have felt the same if someone was gonna help you then killed you when you were a noob.

Yeah, cause it didn't took you weeks to get to grips with all the complex rules and features of EVE.... just like everybody else. You in your infinite wisdom would have seen right through such obvious traps to kill you as giving away some left over ore... ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Originally by: Chimeny Christmas The latest feature that carebears have whined for is can flagging. Not thinking through the implications of can flagging it was hailed as "the death of ore theft" and "awesome" (quoted from Jita local a few days prior to RMR)
Now that its hear the doomsday prophets were right - its an utter fiasco. Newbies everywhere are being lured into can flagging by scumbags like myself and promtly have their ship destroyed.
A showcase example; meet Promoter! After a brief talk in local, his greedy little fingers come reeching for my ore can. Here we can see Promoter as our case example newbie, this story is happening ALL OVER the universe as we speak.
After he gets flagged, death follows swift.
Shortly after this he convo'd me briefly explaining that he's uninstalling EVE and going back to WoW since he didn't expect to be griefed by a dumb feature made by CCP.
So yes, can flagging, what a briliant idea.
Seems to me CCP was not the one who destroyed his ship and caused him to leave the game (if that really happened).
Ore thieving is still extant pre- and post-RMR. Criminal flagging is and was a serious design omission for years! If you fired on an ore thief, you got Concordokken. Not exactly justice as the thief got away scot-free for thieving.
If anything, the long delay in implementing this omission caused the increase in ore thieving. Ore thieves exploited a design hole, knowing there was no legal repercussions for being a thief. Those days are over.
Ore thieves will still be around and will probably still steal ore. The difference now is they have to be ready to deal with the consequences as Concord will not look the other way anymore.
Seems the only whining is from ore thieves who can no longer get away with stealing scot-free. You have to assume the risks of stealing ore from cans now. Does not mean you can't do it, you can.

Originally by: Chimeny Christmas So yes, can flagging, what a briliant idea.
I agree! Here's why:
We have on one hand the kind of player that would use the can-flagging mechanic to kill newbs. On the other hand, we have the newb player that would steal loot/ore (ignorant of the new flagging rules). This new player is likely the kind of player that would 'grow up' and start killing newbs by clever management of the flagging rules.
Basically, we have the figurative parents of an undesirable player species eating their own young. Brilliant! CCP rocks!

Its just a learning curve.
Right now people are greifing, and getting griefed by the mechanics of the game. In time this will dwindle down to a scant few, with no friends to warn them.

I don't see the problem.
- smart players know about it, actually read the popup they are given, and/or learn fast - stupid players get ganked and go back to WoW - less stupid players means less crowd in core systems, which means less lag
Way I see it, it's a win/win situation.
This post reminds me of the day I played Lineage 2 before. They have Player Killing noobs in starter town.
To be honest, players who doesn't want a challenge are left out in this game. Harsh lesson that has to be learned. ----------------------------- And now a word from my sponsor

Didn't you expect the people being victims of this bait luring to whine? Because I haven't seen any of those. Maybe they don't know their way to the forums or they're not really bothered by losing their ships.
What I do see is a lot of peeps trying to talk for others than themselves in this thread, you not inlcuded Avon.
