The holiday season is upon us. Players will have more time than usual to play a game that is currently not playable.
I understand that Hellmar sez the 64-bit stuff they are buying will fix the LAG.
Maybe it is time to admit that EVE hardware was not ready for RMR and to rollback to the day before the patch.
Then they could put in their new uber hardware and test it before trying RMR again.
It is not a bad thing to admit a mistake. And RMR appears to be a mistake in timing.
The level of anger on these forums is a good indicator that the deployment of RMR before the new hardware is a very bad mistake. The level of LAG is proof that it was a mistake.
Admit the mistake. Give us back a halfway playable game until you get things sorted.
Thanks, CCP.
Wow! That drone nerf eliminated all lag!
Just like the highway nerf eliminated all lag!
Meet the new lag, WORSE than the old lag!
Happy RMR everyone! |

Edited by: Torquemanda Corteaz on 20/12/2005 23:12:32 CCP staff are already giving up their christmas holiday time to fix this game for you, so how about a stop with the hideous amounts of pathetic complaining?

If there was nothing wrong, there would be no complaints. There is a great deal wrong, hence a great deal of complaints.
Cheers.

I for one like lag, it takes away the concept of time, which is so forced upon mankind by civilization.. Embrace the lag and feel suspended in a timeless universe... Now feel your new powers take foothold in your body as the missiles hit you for no effect.. You've become god of EVE like Nemo was god of the Matrix.. Now you turn away from the matrix and is set free.. Damn asylum people, gotta run

Bah, for every person complaining, there are 10 having a great time. Sorry your having problems, move out of the core systems.
Personally, I love every bit of RMR after playing it a few days and have noticed many many areas that CCP has optimized and trimmed the fat to get the game to run smoothly.
Bottom line is that at this point, there are some systems with just too many people in them and nothing short of a hardware upgrade or people moving out of these systems is going to fix the problem. I see people complaining about lag in systems where there are over 300 in local. DUH!

RMR rocks, I can play, albeit while suffering from lag ( and no I'm not in a core system ) but it's not that bad. And say no to rollbacks. They're almost as bad as sharding/spliting server. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

This is a very common misconception a lot of people seem to share. Undestand that the people who take the time to read and post on the forums is a minority of the player-base for most MMOs, and definitely for this one. And the people who cry out for rollbacks and whatnot is an even smaller, but very much more vocal, minority.

There's nothing CCP can't handle. Just relax. RMR deployment has gone just fine. Rollbacking would be the most stupid thing they could ever do at this situation.

I guess it is true that only a minority of the players find the forums. I had to tell a couple of my friends where they were and how to get on them.
If I were able to play the game I would not have time to be so "vocal". I would be too busy playing.
Happy Holidays.

The complainers would be here no matter what time of the year it was....no to a rollback which most probably would be just as problematic. ----------- Trolling - Ban - All I got was this silly Hat. |

Unfortunately I have witnessed far too many times 3-15 mins lagtimes in deep 0.0 systems with one or two people in.
It's really bad out there.
No rollbacks... and no hurry, hope they take the time and fix it properly. |

Think about it this way.
A rollback will involve.....
4 days of downtime as they pick the database to bits and remove all the new items.
2 days of waiting for an unpatcher to allow a seemless client rollback.
weeks and weeks of bugs as they find things they forgot to undo.
So, you want more missery & lag do you???
No roll back.

You assume that CCP was so incompetent as not to back up everything before the so-called update.
If that is true we are in worse trouble than I thought.

Actually, they have backup images of all contents every few days in case something terribleÖ happened to the servers. It'd not be worse than a minor patch to do a roll back, they'd just have to feed the server with all the old information.
However, rollbacks have all these little drawbacks. People not having all the cool loot they did, lost money they suddenly never earned, lost the skill points they trained (dammit! now I have to train Amarr Frig ALL OVER again), and not to mention all those people who thought they were cool with long skill trainings and went on a vacation.
CCP's done a rollback once that I know of. That's when they introduced a lot of pirates at gates and stuff. Back then 50k were as high as pirates went, but people lost ships in hordes anyways due to so many gates having rats. This was also back in the days when people didn't have 10 million gunnery, because they noone had even 10 million total.
In short: rollbacks harm the player base quite a lot. Just wait until something catastrophic happens (like skill trainings cut to 1/10th the time and all 2.5k frigates dropping T2 and Jove BPOs) before asking for rollbacks. I know I have a few levels of T2 beams I don't feel like training again. And a few implants I'd rather keep in hangars.
The language filter needs an update. Check Sharks With Frickin' Laser Beams' forum for a good profanity filter |

Rolling back the patch wont fix the lag problem. This lag was here before the patch.
And I agree, quit with the moaning already. -

The lag was pretty bad after Exodus, but not half so bad as with RMR.
I'll moan all I want while staying within the forum rules. I'm paying for this. If I can't play due to LAG, well moaning is an option. If I could play I would be too busy to moan.
Cheers!

tbh you could send ccp mails instead
and I don't get why so many ppl complain about lag, yet I almost never suffer from it
Is it ppl that have so crappy connection or crappy computers?

Well moaning isn't going to fix it either?
The lag is because of the 20,000 users. Nothing to do with the patch. -

We broke 18,000 users before the patch without these problems.
The moaning has a purpose. Perhaps someone at CCP will read it and take heed.
It also occupies time that would otherwise be spent playing the game. If it could be played.
