There's nothing lucky about the same players winning multiple BPO's.
And I doubt there's anything wrong with the randomness of CCP's code that "selects" who gets one and who doesn't.
You just have to know, and be on friendly terms with, the right person.

Get a life, it's a totally random system which means yes it's most definitely possible and actually quite probable that people will get that lucky and maybe even luckier at times.
What kind of selfish bad sportsmanship is it when because you know of someone who got lucky twice you cry about it in public instead of just wishing them well?
Omg h4x - there was a totally random output from that totally random system then!! How unexpected!

Thanks for summing up my feelings on the subject, Blacklight.

Well, the number of research agents and their quality is quite important, if the guy that won 7 T2 BPO over time has many many high quality agents, then i don't see a problem that he won many times
There's one thing i don't like about the current system, it's that once you've made the efforts to raise your standing high enough and trained all the right skills to good levels to be able to do research efficiently, you don't have to put any more efforts if you don't want to and can win 1 or more BPO that can be worth multiple billions
These things are very valuable, we should have to continuously put lots of efforts to even have a chance to win a BPO, the only way to do that would be to stop getting RP while doing nothing
There should be only one way of getting RPs, it should be by doing the missions R&D agents give once a day
So, if you have multiple agents, you would be able to do more than 1 mission / day, but you would have to do them to get the RPs, you would have to work for every singe RPs you get to have a chance to win the great rewards that can come from it
The more missions you do, the higher the amount of RPs you have, if you stop doing missions, you would still have the amount of RPs accumulated so far, but you won't get anymore until you do more R&D missions, so your chance of winning would go down as other players keep doing their missions, and by doing so, would be getting ahead in the amount of RPs they have compared to you
That, and replacing the BPO by BPC would improve the lotery a lot -----

Been advocating this for a long time. There is to many "free rides" in t2 r&d. Hopefully how t2 r&d works will change sometime in the future, hopefully not to long.

The problem is that the random numbers being generated are not random, but seem to follow a sequence. Just about everyone that has won a lottery has done so multiple times, yet most other people have won nothing.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.

just dont understand why thats bpo and not bpc... any bpo can make richer and richer... i think bpc are really sufficient... pretty disgusting that people can earn 7bpo. i dont believe thats just a mather of "luck" <- download it, rename it for eve.ico & use it for your EvE R.M.R. desktop icon ;) |

Edited by: slip66 on 24/12/2005 14:07:31 Look the guy with 7 bpos is reasearching a field that obviously not many people are in. He has been playing the game for a long while aswell. The great majority of people are in the starship fields.
You guys are moaning because someone won two bpos. Well he didnt win two. There were two DIFFERENT accounts. Thats 6 tries each having 100+ rp. Each had ALOT of RP. More then a years worth. So you can't compare your self who has only been doing reaserch for a year to them.
He did it the smart way and went all out to hedge his bet.

Not sure, but I think they draw individual between agents as well. So if you use an r&d agent that hardly anyone else use, you got an increased chance to get lucky with that particular agent. Less people to compete with, although not 100% certain.

pathetic, simply pathetic,
whining bout soemones luck, apperantly most of you missed the fact that the guy must have no life, to be able to garner millions of lp needed.
is it me , or has the average age started to fall in this game.

Edited by: Gierling on 24/12/2005 14:28:28 To be honost there are way fewer people playing the lottery then you think.
I'd say that the people running agents on the one account they play with comprise no more then 1/4 to 1/3 of the total RP's in the system.
The remainder are tied up by the professional researchers. I'd say that theres between 150-300 individuals who run an absolutely obscene amount of accounts. I'm personally aware of people who run about a dozen accounts with every alt researching max agents, they average about a BPO every couple of weeks.
Thats multiple BPO's per player (the one I'm thinking about has around 30), however when you have 36 some odd characters those BPO's are very spread out.
Granted though the downside to that is that his monthly subscription fee is at least 200 quid. Thats how the research game is played, if you pay CCP more money you get more chance to win a BPO.
I really wish they would learn from that and Model Research on the other aspects of the game. People who want it more will expend more effort to get it, whether "it" is territory, pride, isk or BPO's, the mechanic needs to be brought in game so that players can compete directly.

The average IQ has if your posts are anything to go by.
There is zero work in gaining RP's, these are different from LP's.
Before you jump down peoples throats I suggest you look at your facts, they are wildly inaccurate.

I'd like CCP to release the list of BPOs awarded, noting the character names, corp, alliance, RP amounts, and any other relevant data of the winners. Without this information, it's all supposition. Without this information, it's impossible to see if there are issues with the 'true' randomness of the draw. Currently, we make judgements based on forum posts and number of people that on either side of the fence that either like or dislike the lottery.
This information should be made publicly available. For the storyline side of things, a series of press releases in-character would suffice. It's all about transparency now, customers are complaining and no one is sure we should or shouldn't complain at this point.
CCP: It's a contentious subject. It's raised up everytime there's a lottery, as far as I can tell (using eve-search). Start making it better by making it a transparent process, please.

I always disliked the hit&miss of Research in EVE. The fact it boils down to luck just sucks. I don't really care about trevedian or felicity glimmer. Great for them, really. Who cares?
I think RP "bidding" is the way to go, honestly, much rather than a random system. ---

I remember when I was in Aegis Militia, Mirial got one BPO after the other. Only reason GHSC was able to steal that much isk . Think she got like 10+ or something.

If the guy who received bothe recon bpo's had alot of RP's in that field of study, then this person had a good chance and deserves both T2 BPO's.
Trev got 7 T2 BPO's and he probably has more RP's than anyone else in the field of Laser Physics... SO HE DESERVES THEM!

And yes I admit im jelous as hell :P I'm just sayin I think its a bit fkd O_o
Yup... people have been yelling for over 2 years now about the lottery but nothing has been done. With the large #'s of people participating in the lotto, one should expect more randomization. Pseudo-random number generators ftl. |

No wonder CCP does not want to discuss the whys, whos and hows of the lottery system. If they posted when the BPOs were offered and to who I bet a big pattern would so up. I don't think it is all that ramdom. I've heard from day one CCP had thier favorites.
PS who has my cheese? 5 agents and no offers.

Gierling, ive tried to tell them, believe me, they just ignore all reason and continue the onslaught because they are jealous, i can already see why CCP dont comment in these threads, i'd be suprised if they even bother reading them.
I believe at least 3 of each ship bpo has been given out already, on the first day, a character with 6 amarr starship agents, 120-130k per agent totalling 800k rp won a curse on the agent with the highest rp, 2 full days after that, a character with 6 agents in caldari starship with 180-205k rp per agent, totalling well over a million rp won a rook on the agent with the highest rp.
There is nothing fishy about that.

Damn right!
My take on t2 lottery is that its a joke.
I for one am glad i only have science lv2 and never went near research after realising it was fubar (and frankly, a very daft, stupid, silly way of doing things) a long time ago.
Sure i might have had a bpo by now, but only might, i'd rather have my 30mil sp's in gunnery and ships thanks.
