I'm happy to announce that you can now try out Odyssey 1.1 on Singularity, in addition to quite a bit of content (see Features and Ideas forum) this release also contains some deep changes beneath the surface which is what we in Team Shapeset (CCP Sputnik, CCP Necrogoat, myself and CCP Mephysto) want to talk to you about.
Rough outline of the changes being discussed in this thread: GÇóNew branch architecture - In order to facilitate development efficiency the way code is managed (branch architecture) within CCP has been changed. GÇóRemoved Nasty - Code refactoring to remove Nasty, a system as old as EVE and very aptly named. GÇóNew build system - To accommodate the above changes Shapeset had to set up a new build system, the previous one relied on Nasty and would never have been able to support the increased output required to fully realize the benefits of the new branch architecture. This is the part we are responsible for.
These changes have been in development and testing internally for a while but the real crucible for changes like this is usually in public testing since there is just no way for us to replicate all the different system configurations out there; in short we beseech the good people that frequent Singularity to let us know if things are really OK.
What should you look out for? GÇóUse the Windows installer and connect to Singularity, post any issues you run into. GÇóUse the Mac installer and connect to Singularity, post any issues you run into. GÇóConnect to Singularity using an existing test install, post here if you have any problems updating the client or connecting. GÇóConnect to Singularity using a copied Tranquility client, post here if you have any problems updating the client or connecting.
Please note that in all the above use cases you will need to manually point the client to Singularity because this is a release candidate build that is set to connect to Tranquility by default, see this wiki entry for instructions. Please post here if you need any further help connecting to Singularity, also note that we are not asking everyone to run all four scenarios but if you are posting feedback please mention which OS version you are using and how the client was installed or updated.
What about other issues? Any issues or anomalies that occur once the client is started up and connected to a server are unlikely to be caused by the changes listed above and we'd prefer to keep the discussion in this thread focused. If it's anything short of catastrophic failure like repeatable client crashes or lock ups we're probably not going to be of much use resolving them. I recommend starting a separate thread (in Test Server Feedback forum) on such issues to reach the developers involved or checking out the general feedback and bug reporting threads for this build.

Mac repair payload is wrong so the launcher will attempt to download 7GB, we recommend using the installer instead until we have fixed this. Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

Only 820 megabytes for me. Are you upgrading from a TQ install or a previous SiSi install? Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene V - Moon 4 - Duvolle Labs Factory. This mirror is older than mid-July. It was taken shortly after the Odyssey release. If your account was inactive then, it will still be inactive now. You will have to either a) petition CCP to activate your character on the test server or b) wait until the next mirror. |

Take a look at that. It should help you make sure that your client was copied correctly. Also, you should delete the .patch files in the EVE folder.
EDIT: Make sure they're the .patch files in the copied client, not your TQ version. |

This is where they are in the TQ version of your client: C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE
When you copied your client, they should still be in the same folder that contains all the files. For example, D:\Program Files (x86)\SiSi\CCP\EXE. Remember that you don't want to put the test server copy in the same directory as the TQ client. |

Yes, you could do this, too. It sounds like the .patch files are already gone so this should solve your issue. There was an issue like this shortly after the Odyssey release, too, where people were having trouble logging in. This seemed to be the way to bypass it. |

I had the same issues with auth key (after some time in queue it was expired and I have to wait again and again). Just parch your Singularity client with launcher and then run client directly from shortcut: (Singularity directory)/BIN/Exefile.exe /server:87.237.38.50 Yes, you could do this, too. It sounds like the .patch files are already gone so this should solve your issue. There was an issue like this shortly after the Odyssey release, too, where people were having trouble logging in. This seemed to be the way to bypass it. \o/ Thanks to the both of you... After waiting on queue, finally logging.. Acquiring bulk of Data rite atm By the way the .patch files were already deleted, went to my client settings and had the delete patch after install check The parch thingie work.. o7o7o7o7
You're quite welcome. Bear in mind the test server is a bit laggy right now so just be patient. |

Yeah, try loading the client from the BIN folder in your test server client folder. That seems to be the fix for that. |

From what they were saying, it was a custom system. Then again, I'm not a dev or a developer, so I might have misinterpreted what they said wrong. From what I could gather, Python (at the time) didn't have everything they needed so they developed a custom system called Nasty. Now that Python has everything they need, they no longer need the custom system. |

ok, so, here is data 4u:
mobo: asus M4A89GTD USB3 Pro proc: Phenom II 965BE quad core GPU: ATI Radeon HD7970 RAM: 4GB DDR3 Corsair something something RAM HD: 1TB black something something don't remember, don't care, it works.
I've been logging into sisi every day for the last 2 weeks, so my build was up-to-date. I had absolutely 0 issues updating to the new build. downloaded ~850MB, installed properly the first time using the normal launcher. Had to wait for the client to acquire 122 items of bulk data.
Once this was all done, I logged in was testing new doctrines features instantly.
Now for da bugs, and boy are there a lot.
Medium guns are broken. All ammo counts are decremented at the number of guns in the group, rather than by 1. Auto reload is broken. Flat out doesn't work. Tried cycling off and on again. No change. Manual reload works fine. Over heat is broken. Overheated modules still generate heat even when not cycling. I overheated a rack without turning anything on, had 50% heat before I even noticed. Nothing took any damage though. Someone stated on the singularity channel that the jump gate animation is broken. However I didn't try that myself. Everything was really slow, though that may have just been server load due to all the people checking out the new toys.
On the plus side, some of those HACs look really sweet now. Can't wait to try them on TQ.

These are two separate things.
First, we changed the branching structure (we use Perforce and have done for a long time). This means that when you make a change in your local development branch it takes a slightly different route through staging branches before it ends up on TQ.
Second, Tiberius is correct, we used to need Nasty but now don't. Removing it means that our code looks like the regular Python code you'll find in any open source project, meaning that we can use tools built by the community instead of rolling our own everything.
Also, CCP Gangleri has just deleted the launcher payload for Mac, as it wasn't working and was the source of issues people were having with Mac when they installed via the launcher. Currently the method to use is the installer. QA Engineer | Team Cobra Kai |

So i noticed some things about the new drone stuff that could really use some changes.
When dragging drones from "drones in bay" folder to "drones in local space" they need to be dragged to the actual "drones in local space" folder, so my question would be is there any way it can be changed so they can be dragged to the empty space below the "drones in local space" folder itself as well ?
Also when dragging drones from "drones in local space" to "drones in bay" is there any way to make it so they can be dragged onto any space below "drones in bay" without placing them in whatever folder the cursor is on?
I think most people would find quick drag and drops to deploy and recall drones to be more useful than recalling and organizing your drones in space into a folder in one click. because right now, 1 wrong click and ya just recalled and placed drones into to the wrong folder, good luck finding and reorganizing those little buggers in the heat of battle once dropped into wrong folder when you meant to just recall them.
Also i noticed some serious lag when deploying and recalling drones. could be for everything not just drones. noticed this during the last big patch i was testing. But it was fixed shortly after singularity release, so im not terribly worried about.
Still lag is rather detrimental to the testing process. Would love you long time if it was sorted before hitting singularity :)

Tried the above: made a copy of the tranquility client, created eve.exe shortcut and update properties as per wiki. Double clicked. Nothing happened.
Created a shortcut to the repair tool and updated the properties as per the wiki. It ran for a while but at the end showed that there were errors (from the log file)
C:\Users\Admin1\AppData\Local\Temp\nsvF01A.tmp\library.zip\repairTool\repairLogic.py:296: UnicodeWarning: Unicode equal comparison failed to convert both arguments to Unicode - interpreting them as being unequal
Again ran the eve.exe shortcut and still nothing at all happened.
I tried rebooting, deleting, started over with the same result.

With the ammo in guns issue, I'm playing with large blasters, and with 7 guns in group its only firing 1 gun, but subtracting 7 rounds from that gun, so even manual reload isn't working, becuase all but 1 grouped gun isn't firing.
Also, tier 3 BC's (the talos in this case) if you sort market items to filter out by ship powergrid and CPU it will think Large electron blasters are ok for the talos, but none of the other types of large blasters (ion, neuntron etc) and when fitting it initially thinks they overload the ship, but then once fit, allow you to activate them (the large turrets bonus on the tier 3 BC's isn't apply until after the item is fit) |

Had old odyssey version on singularity install (it had ability to login on launcher before launch). Tried to launch that directly and have it updated. it kept saying "downloading launcher update" but the pc was not doing anything but idling (checking cpu and memory times of process and disk access).
I then copied current tranquility overtop of old singularity install and relaunched. It then downloaded 895MB update and Im now in singularity. So it has no problems at all when making new singularity install but I don't know about updating from old singularity; it failed. |

From what I can tell, the installer installs 575219. Then when EVE launches and it checks the version number, it tries to download 584270, which would appear to be what it needs according to the latest patch build:

I should have clarified earlier, sorry for the inconvenience. With no payload the launcher will fail on client verification but you can bypass it by starting the client directly, here is an example Terminal command (assumes you are in the client installation directory): ./[your EVE install].app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider --cmdline=" /server:87.237.38.50" Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

With no payload the launcher will fail on client verification but you can bypass it by starting the client directly, here is an example Terminal command (assumes you are in the client installation directory): ./[your EVE install].app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider --cmdline=" /server:87.237.38.50"
This does indeed work, thank you for your help :)

Yes, I have found what was wrong with the payload and we are working on making a new one available. If you already applied the update via the launcher you can fix your client using these steps:
- right click the client, show package contents
- browse to /Contents/Resources
- rename the EVE Online package here to 'bad package'
- show package contents on 'bad package'
- repeat step 1 and 2
- repeat step 1 and 2 (this is not a typo)
- open another Finder window and browse to the 'bad package' there
- move the EVE Online package from the first Finder window to the second one
- delete 'bad package'
- close both Finder windows
- open client, remember that you will need to use the Terminal to point it to Singularity

I'm not finding another package named "EVE Online" when I follow these steps. When I repeat steps 1 and 2, I simply see "bad package" where presumably I should see "EVE Online". |

Downloaded, Patched, Launched (while 81 people where online, and server up), got this:
Error code: 760A2B6F-B681-42E4-A5A4-2D38D3CEB315...
Annoyed, went to search for issue - nothing I found pointed to this, don't have hours to mess with it, went back to doing other things at DT...
CCP, might want to make sure the launcher works before you ask people to test 1.11 - this kind of thing makes me a tad annoyed, like that whole SISI now is something else and your new Test is "Buckingham" no wait, we are no longer doing it that way we reversed it again, no go here... no wait, go there... now it's different again.... wait, wait... back this way...
ok guys, I have run testing, and this isn't a good way to do it... put a little thought into how the person on the bloody client is dealing with this - we have a limited amount of time, DL are bloody long, patching, and we go to donate a hours or so, and this kind of stuff... this is why you don't have more than couple 100 (on a good day) testers and less than 100 on avg... Look at all the Macks in local...impressive...very impressive...I see you have fashioned a new exhumer...much like you father's...your skills as a miner are now complete...indeed you are powerful as CCP Devs have foreseen. |

Some general feedback: Grouped weapons ammo is broken, though I noticed CCP Paradox wrote in another thread that they are aware of it and working to fix it. Missiles seemed fine, but my hybrid ammo was not happy.
Command Ships don't seem to be matching their descriptions at the moment, for example the Astarte can use multiple warfare links, but only one can be activated at a time currently?
Also reporting a bug seems difficult to find in Sisi, can "report bug" be added to the help menu to make finding it easier? I feel odd submitting a petition instead of a bug report. And I can never remember the key-combination to bring up the bug report window.

Bulk data is not included in this client version so it will be fetched from the server, depending on load this can take a while. The server is at the moment lagging a lot and we restricted access to the server for a bit.
Tried this work around, it worked but opened up to buckingham by default, I looked at the cider file, and there is no "/server" line to change from /server:87.237.38.69 to /server:87.237.38.50
Also gave me incompatible build, which I suppose is normal, just wanted to put it out there.
Any ideas? |

If the --cmdline=" /server:87.237.38.50" part isn't working the most common cause is to forget the space between " and / in the command. Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

Are you using an old Singularity install? It's trying to get a rather old file that isn't available anymore so it's unlikely to ever work properly, I'd recommend getting the installer linked in OP unless you are on a limited connection. A new patch is available on Singularity, which should fix several problems, but unfortunately it has also a new problem:
The patch includes several duplicated files, which cause a 2.36GB download. Feel free to skip this patch, if your download volume is restricted. It is also very likely, that this patch will not work on Windows XP, but I am currently not able to test it.
Regarding downloading bulkdata: It might be necessary to delete the cache of the client once, if the client is downloading bulkdata each time. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock | Team Five 0 Bug reporting | Mass Testing |

I have finally been cured of the dumb and figured out what this is, the client is out of date and is therefore trying to look for the old fallback patching mechanism. We no longer build these so the data it gets is outdated, you should not get this error if the client you are using matches the server you are trying to connect to.
In any case I'm in the middle of updating Singularity with the latest client build, this time all build related issues should be solved so Mac users should be able to use the launcher and windows users should not get huge patches that don't work on XP. The Mac launcher found a data package, downloaded and patched all 9GB, and now indicates the client is up to date. When I log in and press play, "Play" changes to "Launching" for about 15 seconds then back to "Play", but no client. Tried clearing the launcher cache and the client cache and settings. That made client validation take quite a while, but it still won't launch. |

There is now a new version up, this time the Mac payload is really fixed. Sorry about the mix up, last couple of weeks have been hectic. For those that already patched their Singularity client on Mac and want to avoid downloading another massive payload please follow these instructions before connecting to Singularity.
- right click the client, show package contents
- browse to /Contents/Resources
- rename the EVE Online (broken icon) package here to 'bad package'
- show package contents on 'bad package'
- show package contents on 'EVE Online'
- browse to /Contents/Resources to find another 'EVE Online'
- open another Finder window and browse to the 'bad package' (steps 1 & 2)
- move the EVE Online package from the first Finder window to the second one
- delete 'bad package' (move to trash)
- the path you should end up with is: EVE Online/Contents/Resources/EVE Online/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/...
- launch the client normally, if the launcher tries to download an unreasonable amount of data please close it and double check the path in step number ten

When I launch the test client using "/Applications/EVE\ Online\ Singularity.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider --cmdline=" /server:87.237.38.50"" I get the expected "incompatible (build)" message, with an offer to download 17.5MB of patch, only to be told:
EVE Online wrote:There was an unexpected error while retrieving update status:
Unable to download file /583835/evepremiumpatch583835-mac.tgz from the server. Error: url //cdn1.eveonline.com/583835/evepremiumpatch583835-mac.tgz not found
Do you want to go to support page?
This is based on a freshly downloaded installer from http://cdn1.eveonline.com/589449/eve-premium_008261_589449-mac.dmg - the app reports its version as 2.1.573094, modified/created on Wednesday 21 August 2013.
Where is the client getting the "583835" number from? It looks like the patch server is sending the wrong information back:

The 583835 message is only given to you if you bypass the launcher by starting the client directly and have an out of date client, the client will attempt to fall back to an outdated method of updating that is no longer in use since the launcher was introduced.
I do not know why your installation is being reported as broken, is this a system error message or a launcher one? It sounds like a system error in which case there isn't much I can do to help other than suggest you get a fresh Sisi install by either copying your Tranquility one and connect it to Singularity (small download) or get a fresh install (large download). In either case this wiki article should come in handy: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Singularity Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

I just tried to start up Sisi, had an update, and now it will no longer start up. I had no problems starting it up a few hours ago. The eve.exe does start in taskmanager, but it doesn't truely start.
bypassing the launcher didn't help. Again it does start the eve.exe in taskmanager, but further than that it doesn't go.
Trying EVE repair now. |

The last Singularity resulted unfortunately in a broken client. We reverted this client and everything should work again.
For those who patched to the broken version: Kill all EVE processes through the task manager and then start the launcher again. Unfortunately the launcher cannot be started while broken EVE processes are hanging around. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock | Team Five 0 Bug reporting | Mass Testing |

Better Sisi than TQ ;) But good to hear, now I just have to wait for my launcher to update the god knows how many MB after I did the repair >.< |

how exactly do you manage to break the client and not notice it until is deployed? |

This is a system error, reported when I double-click on the application freshly unpacked from the DMG downloaded on Wednesday. This is not an old, out-of-date client but the most recently updated client as linked in the OP.

I'll try that next.

Sickness and nausea continue to be induced by Stargate jump transition. Please provide an off switch just as you do for Camera Shake.
Note, excessive use of the F10 map key eventually breaks map garbling graphics in the map as well as the 3D rendering of grid on exiting map. Ultimately, breaking client. |

You don't work in software do you? in fact I do, which is why a error that can be reproduced with just running the client, surprises me as not being seen before. either way dosnt matters anymore, fixed already. |

Hi! I still cant log in into Singularity! I have 10 days from my subscription, i'm making the renewal in a few days. The last mirror is a month old, when will it updated?
This site shows, that there is a new mirror, but the client still said "Invalid username/password" |

I coded in C++ before and I'd like to know how you compile and release code without knowing its broken also?
Nobody is testing the complied patch to the client by seeing if the client will accept the patch successfully? |
