Parts 1 thru 4 of this mission were reasonably easy for me and my alt. Part 5 however was very challenging. I had to get help from a friend but we eventually completed the mission. But it took us 4 days of trying new tactics and setups. If you have to warp out you might as well let the mission reset after DT before attempting it again. Here is my problem with this mission. The mission briefing, in short, basically tells you to destroy the stargate quickly before more reinforcments can arrive. We had destroyed the gate at which time only one Darkana had come thru. We destroyed the Darkana and a one of the fleet Tempests but we were running low on cap and shield. So, we warped out to recharge our systems thinking that no more ships would spawn, We would just waltz back in and mop up the remaining ships. But upon warping back in, to our suprise, sits 5 more Darkanas's and all the other nasties that come with them. We tucked our tails and warped out. Me with about 60% structure remaining. Imo, either the breifing is wrong or the mission is bugged...

Originally by: Lyra Sy 5 or 5 I checked out the forums. DON'T TRY TO SOLO THIS! I plan to never accept this mission as a solo player. Someone in the help channel offered this example: http://kimjpeck.dyndns.org:90/5.jpg Everything instantly aggros. New waves of rats warp in on timers. It's supposedly solo-able though if you have a really fast HAC and some luck. The reward is no way worth the high risk.
Our Corp did this (four of us) using a shield tanked Raven, an Apoc with remote shield boosters, a Dominix with shield repairing drones and remote shield boosters.
What we learned: The raven's shield barely drops with this setup - obviously it has to be in FIRST to be targetted, and the repairer ships have to be not too far behind. Combat log analyser showed the Raven taking about 80,000 damage during the mission.
Also the comment about it "not being worth it" isn't QUITE right...if you are prepared to bait the spawns, then a good few of them drop what can only be described as "Tech II tags"...just like the regular tags, but with a "II" after them...suggest you check the market for NPC prices on these before you complain TOO bitterly about the lack of reward.
However, I will reiterate...do NOT attempt this mission solo. --- Ha! Vote me for top forum ***** |

Nope, you're just reading it wrong. It says you have to destroy the gate, and it says to be quick about it, because other ships will warp in. At no point does it say they will NOT warp in if you destroy the gate. --- Ha! Vote me for top forum ***** |

Indeed this is true. Me and 4 other BS's did that mission and even after destroying the gate (which drops 50 metal scraps and 10 drugs) Enemy's still warp in. I think it has something to do with attacking or not attacking the sentries. Just make sure that if you do it as a group, that you all warp align at full speed then gang warp out, otherwise a straggler may end up in a quick pod --- Order Now!

Here is the "Kill Objective" taken from the mission breifing...
Kill Objective "Use the acceleration gate at the forward point to get to the old smuggler gate undetected. Destroy the smuggler gate as soon as possible. There will be ships guarding it, and it is imperative that you destroy the gate before they receive reinforcements from the other side. It is advisable to bring friends along to help with this task.
According to your agent, the smuggler gate is unstable and needs a few minute cooldown period before it is usable again. This means the reinforcements will probably arrive in waves."
Your right, it doesn't say that ships will not warp in if you destroy the gate. But the way it reads makes me think that the reinforcements would not continue to arrive in waves once the gate is destroyed. I guess one could argue that these ships that continue to spawn after the gate has been destroyed didn't come thru the gate but from somewhere else.
Other than the "It is avisable to bring friends along to help with this task." I still feel the Kill Objective to be a bit misleading but then again thats just my opinion. |

I did part 1 with 2 friends, 2 of us lost our BS's. to let everyone know, there is now a warp scrambler frig in the first group of frigs. Wouldn't let me warp out, when i went in to gather his gear. Tried to kill the frig then warp out but those guys are tough little buggers

Go in solo with a hard tank (hard as in resists) and two large smarts. Sit there and smart the gammas, warp out and refit. Rest is easy.... keep the hard tank - warp in, Kill the 2 closest battleships. Warp out, fit for long range, warp in and move to range. Pick off targets.
I can solo this in a raven with mediocre skills.
If this is against gallente, switch to pure thermal output for the Orion... It has a very strong tank, weakest against thermal.

I did 5/5 tonight in my trusty Zealot of doom. I think the secret is to kill everything on warp in as fast as damn possible and then get some distance away from where the waves spawn. Kill interceptors with extreme prejudice. Being in a fast HAC I ignored the Darkana's till last, which was just as well as I needed to refit 4 heat sinks to bring the heavily tanked buggers down. 6 of them in all took me an age.
Someone pointed out that the Freedom Patriots etc throw a real spanner in the works when they spawn and they're damn right. I had a full Exp/Kin tank on and these EM/Therm guys really hit me hard, I had to warp out with a slight nick out of structure, refitted so that I had 1 of each Hardener.
By the time I got back in, interceptors had spawned but luckily they were all alone by warp in point while the fleet (it really is a fleet) were 150km or so away, killed interceptors very quickly due to dual webs and then got back to killing everything else. All in all I loved it, it's damn risky and alot can go wrong but my god did I make some money off of it.
I would not like to try this in a battleship, no way.

Hello missioners, Well this mission aint that hard , i do the first 4 levels solo and in the last we can completed it with only 2 ravens: tip for the first mission is to go in with 6 large smart bombs let the 4 ceptors get close and boom, warp out refit(u need at least 500 speed) and do the rest.
the last mission its easy , 2 ravens , one of them with cruize missiles and 2 sensor boosters that can kill at 200km and 4 overdrives, the second raven torps tank for kinetic and thermal and 4 overdrives. the plan is that both raven go in and the one with torps get the locks while both ravens are flying away from gate firing the first group of enemies, while the group is goin down the raven with cruize missiles gains distance. When the group is down u just kill the gate, if the torp raven can hold the group warps out and back and helps killi the gate from 100km. Well works for us we done it 3 times.
p.s Excuse my english and i ll excuse ur greek :p

for 5th lvl we doit with 2 ravens fitted for speed both. One with 6 cruise and 2 sensor boosters 2 ballistics and 2 overs firing range 200 km one fitted with torps and tanking torps raven gets in first following by cruise raven. Torps raven get the locks from all kill together 2 bs and as much more and warp out. (first thing is both align to a place away from gate) when the torp raven goes out all the rest (some ruptures and other cruisers are on cruise raven to kill. still aligned to the escape warp point you can have the rest fast so to start shooting to smugglers gate from 150 km distance.(stop at 180 km) continue to do so until torps raven comes in again and help with destruction of the gate. first respawn comes in when gate is about to die . both ravens are at good range now. KILL THE GATE FIRST. YOU WILL HAVE VO OTHER CHANCE After the gate is down you can decide when you want to close mission respawn never stops but you can kill them from distance. patriots have scramblers and come in 3-4 respawn after the gate is down. The damage we had in ther was devastators missles ans cataclysm also some thunderbolts from cruisers. i go in with heat hardener have fun loot is ok if you stay long enough and REMEMBER TO MAKE A BOOKMARK TO LOOT AFTER MISSION IS CLOSED

we're having trouble with the first part of this mission.
which is annoying considering how everyone says its so easy.
we warp in and ignore the scrambler frigates and take down the Dom and Mega as per the walkthrough. but then everything agros us.
we arent shooting anything else, we arent even targetting anything else. we cant work out why this is happening.
the mission is in Amarr space against Gallente Navy which deal kinetic and thermal I believe.
any ideas? we know that the frigs in Amarr space scramble instead of just web.

Jesus, i can solo all the missions, but this one looks like a world of trouble to me. I'll only attempt to solo this in a dread, since it takes too much time in a HAC. Thanks for this great post and replies guys.

as i said b4 about the first lvl, u go in with 6 smart bombs and kill frigs, after that warp out then come back with a 500speed fitting, after 460speed the bs's miss u a lot cuz of tracking, important thing is that u must not use drones cuz more groups will aggro u plus if there are more than 1 pilots in there the groups will aggro 2. So get in kill the frigs then come back take locks and then the other pilot can jump in..

Which walkthrough did YOU read.... " ignore the scrambler frigates" oopsie. Mistake 1. Go in solo with as many large smarts as you can fit and operate (they suck cap - I get on fine with just two named smarts)
"we arent shooting anything else, we arent even targetting anything else. we cant work out why this is happening."
Because you're within the aggro radius of the enemies as you warp in. Once you've done the support frigs as above you then need to kill the 2 nearest battleships. Once this is done, the rest is easy. You can warp in and get range at your leisure, and finish the job.

Edited by: MrBadidea on 18/01/2006 13:19:26 Edited by: MrBadidea on 18/01/2006 13:17:15 Quick Update: I'm currently doing 5/5.
I've not made any notes about the ships and anything yet, but theres in the order of 18 BS that spawns throughout the mission, about 14 cruisers and 12 frigs ontop of 2 Heavy Missile Batteries. The largest reinforcement group I saw consisted of a Typhoon, Temptest and two Drakana's.
As I was expecting Gallente, I was completely unprepared for the Minnie damage (no Exp. Hardeners, no Exp. torps for the Drakana's etc) but I managed to stay in there until the 4th reinfocement group spawned. I warped out as fast as I could to refit, but the rest of the reinforcements had already spawned so I was SOL.
I'm going to have another go at it tomorrow, if I don't have to warp out for refits/reloads I think it should be quite easy to do providing you can keep up with the spawns and kill them off fast enough.
Oh, and for the record, 0 ships lost so far to this on my part :)
Also, the tags that I've collected from the first 4 missions alone have sold for around 40m. There will probably be about another 10-15m in tags in the 5/5. All in all, I've probably made about 100m off of the first 4 levels (found a few Local Hull spanders too).

Don't close part 1 till you've mined the Omber - there's another 100 mil right there (you have to get it mined before the next downtime tho)
