Cmdr Sy	Posted - 2006.01.02 04:21:00 - [8] It's HAC pronounced Hack, and AF spoken as an abbreviation, A-F. Simplifications exist for BS and BC, though sadly Cruiser and Destroyer don't roll off the keyboard.

I think it's just because we got used to saying RCU for the reactor controllers and then PDS started to be used more and we said PDU out of habit.

H-A-C sounds better, but I find myself saying Assault Cruiser more than anything else. It sounds cooler than either one of those. "Heavy" is a bit redundant because it's extra syllables that don't mean anything if you're saying the whole words, because there's no Assault Cruiser that aren't Heavy. Also I say cerb or cerberus for that one because it really is important to distinguish between the cerb and other HACs. You're dealing with a different animal there.

(that mentioned, it takes exactly as long to say "power diag" as it takes to say "p-d-u", and the former is likely to cause far less confusion... ;s
