There's been all kinds of top-this-or-that threads or best-that-or-another, but I'm not sure if there was a thread about some of the more retarded stuff that happened in EVE. Be it stuff that happened in fights, politics, convos, whateva.
I have to say for me it has to be CYVOKs press release in Xetics name. The way they tried to impose a set of their own demands on the then newly formed 5 alliance that was just moving into Curse. That had to have been one of the biggest blunders resulting in XF themselves breaking the cease fire, a consequentual war that ended with huge loses for XF and subsequent end of what was one of the biggest alliances in EVE ever.
On a more personal level, it had to be my first battleship loss... was shortly after I joined CA, had like 1.5mil skillpoints and decided I want to solo NPC in the belts round HLW in my shiny new megathron... which ofcourse didn't end well...

The Southern Coaliton of Alliances press release/forum post stuff.
Is there any allaince who's nose didn't get out out of joint by that?
Oh and leaving the handbrake off on your dreadnought outside a POS, that has to be bad as well.

Making CA close its doors was the biggest mistake. EVE got more boring for the majority of EVE at that time.

What people still haven't understand on this is that cyvok acted alone without consulting anybody. Meeting with alliance leaders was "ok so we sign some mutual defense pact to protect each others". Then... Well he worked hard for sure on putting ideas together adding his personnal touch... And of course posting everything without consulting anybody.
The original idea was good. It was simple: mutual defense pacts to focus on RA and prevent [5] from attacking (if they had attacked, they wouldn't have been able to secure much due to the amount of enemies, it would have been some new CA war). I guess people can imagine my face when I read that the day after with cyvok explaining [5] how they should behave 
But well, that was usual stuff in the Xetic Federation anyway How can I blame Cyvok for just 1 VERY stupid decision (well, 2 in fact, no wait, 3). I mean the council was completly clueless anyway and could even have agreed with him Like when the council asked Yoristar to tell the [5] they wouldn't get a NAP while telling me to stfu and go to the corner... You need to have been in xetic politics to understand why THAT decision made me laugh deeply (I laughed even harder when Yoristar did exactly what I expected him to do: the opposite of what he was asked for )
Oh well... I guess all that stuff was anyway the most retarded things I had ever seen in Eve. I could list some decisions of the xetic council that were funny as well, but nothing ever reached that stage... Hmmm... well there was when yoristar and KSUDruid explained to me in front of council how Xetic would easely win the war against the [5]... Council agreed (afteral a Minister of Defense isn't supposed to know that kind of things ^^) that was funny stuff as well
try to beat that

Ones that I have been involved withon a personal basis are as follows.
Xetic's post, the cease fire, and the eventual end of xetic. Why oh why that post was made, and why they fired first still surprises me. The truth be told, that post would have started the war in perhaps a day later anyways. No one likes being told what to do, especially an allience that consists mostly of PVP'rs who are facing down a large group of carebears.
The second, whould ave been the Fade+NSA vs BOB thing. To say we were crushed is an understatment. In as little as 24 hours NSA went from fielding 100man fleets (which were slaughtered) to a defence of me, and 3 others in Dek, forced into safe spots in various systems. There was an easy way out of it, and one we could have taken. But foolish (in hind-sight) pride forced us to ally with Fade and take the beating that we took. Some people still suspect that we would have fought BOB anyway, and they maybe right. But jumping head first into a pool of sharks wasn't our best idea.

well my dumbest moment so far was parking a fully Officer/Faction fitted Navy Raven outside a station in 0.0 for 6 hours while i went to bed.
Thought I had docked it but no dice.
Logged on after Downtime to find...
It was still there in one piece
I still owe a lot of people who babysat that ship a lot of favours!
