What is happening? Soundwave leaving for riot and now Arnar Hrafn Gylfason leaving for same destination also. 2 pillars leaving in short period must mean something.
Not happy with the turn that EVE is taking with the late management changes? High positions given to the outsiders while maybe they wanted them?

Its good to get outside talent to shake up the game.
It's also poisoning the game when top Devs are /too/ friendly with player groups.
But, they could steer EVE in another direction that none of us actually wants.
Personally, I don't see this working out in the long run and will be selling off characters in alt ACCTS.
I'm currently taking bets on the following:
- CCP Games becomes EA Games' property.
- EVE Online will have Microtranctions everywhere. |

The only thing surprising to me is how long CCP has been able to keep some devs. I own my own company now, but before that I changed programming jobs every 3 years or so to go where the $$$, the cool tech, or just the challenge was. I don't think there is much to read into a couple devs who've worked for years at one company leaving to go to a company that is doing well and has some different stuff to work on.

CCP has been making some hilarious choices lately when it comes to the people they're hiring. CCP Seagull who's a feminist LGBT ultra-leftist ~~ReLaTiOnShIP Hax0r~~ who's played eve for about a year before being made senior producer, and mintchip who's a cam..... lady.
I wouldn't want to work with gimmicky staff either, and would leave if I found a better offer. |

Is this just speculation or was there an offer from EA to purchase CCP? I've always heard people saying Sonly Online Entertainment would be trying to make a purchase, not EA.

Most people, working at the same job for year after year, get kinda bored.
If you come from the Northeast USA,, then you might have at least one relative who "got the job right after the war and worked there ever since" and that one relative was the one who was as dumb as a post, nearly incoherent, stuck on habits like baked-on paint, suffering from health issues, and always irritated and jumping to (the easiest) conclusions about everything.
So yeah, people are going to change jobs once in a while.

People change jobs quite often in the gaming industry actually. As you gain more experience and knowledge, more opportunities open up for you. Actually, this is quite common in all jobs also. You slowly work your way up to better and better things.
The CCP employees that left felt that they would do better elsewhere, simple as that. It's not that CCP is doing poorly, quite the opposite, just that they feel they can advanced their career from moving, that's it, no hard feelings.
