Hello there. I am Twoflower Octiron and I am New Eden's first ever tourist.
I began my life, on a different fellow, three weeks ago. I mined, then I ran a mission or two, I mined again and then I got blown up. Well, what can I say? I was bored.
There, I said it. Bored... Definitely bored.
Wait. Before you shout. Allow me to explain. I heard about this vast universe and all the delights it had to offer; the stories! Oh yes, the stories. I wanted to experience stories and quite frankly the mining just didn't cut it.
So I had a plan! No one is going to accuse Twoflower Octiron of being bored and doing nothing about it.
A Wonderful Adventure!
With wide eyed wonder, reckless abandon and a thirst for adventure, I would scour the universe, find something of interest and promptly get my picture taken - in Low security and 0.0 space, no less - in a shuttle as well!
"What kind of things?" I hear you shout desperately, while clawing at the monitor. Well, I know little of New Eden and less of 0.0, but I did find this: Map What adventurer could live without a map?
I had a look through the map and selected some likely looking alliances, I will search out their home system, bravely fly up to their station and parade around in front of it while taking pictures of myself. I may even attempt communication with the natives.
But that just isn't enough, I can tell that this will not sate my desire and this is where YOU come in. I'd also like to visit the first ever station, where the first titan was built, where it was lost and, well, exactly where else? Throw your ideas at me and I'll visit them in a random and reckless manner! What could possibly go wrong?
Part 1: The adventure begins
So, on this day, Twoflower Octiron was born in the Gallente Federation. I purchased suitable tourist attire: Picture And created a short, elegant biography that would announce my intentions to the universe at large: Bio
I looked at the map, intending to ponder and deliberate a while on the ideal course and destination, it would do no good to travel 100 jumps and land at a Quafe factory. But it was at this moment that I knew, everything is going to be OK and that my quest is just; for just one system name jumped out at me and I knew I must go there! Destination 1
A journey of discovery on this magnitude can only begin in one place and that is the ultimate beginning, from where our ancestors stepped forth all those years ago. I would visit the EVE gate.
I plotted the course and undocked for the first time, waved goodbye to the station and brought along a trusty shuttle: First step
I did not consider my route, merely picking the shortest. I did not scout ahead, I merely plunged ever onwards. So it took a while for me to realise that the EVE gate is located deep in low security space, itself a 0.1 system - right on the brink between law and lawlessness. I was excited.
I approached the last gate in empire, looked not back, but forward and jumped head first into a 0.3 system and this is what I found: First low sec jump
Not quite the pit of pirates, vagabonds and ninjas I had been led to expect, nonetheless, I plummeted onwards... |

All those saying he isn't the first tourist, go read some Discworld novels then come back amd look at his name and then his ship name.....Then you will understand... Part 2: Humble beginnings
I'd heard about the EVE gate from my pilot induction and I was genuinely excited to visit there. As I flew closer I experienced a rising sense of trepidation and wonder; it was as if I could feel the presence of my ancestors as they fanned out from the gate. I found myself imagining what it was like, thousands of years ago: the adventure, the responsibility and the sheer scale of the unexplored fathoms ahead of them GÇô I felt truly humbled.
The New Eden system was unplottable so I was headed to the 'Promised Land' which did indeed sound rather promising. I began to pass through strange systems: 'Exit', 'Gateway', 'Access', 'Central Point' and finally 'Promised Land' GÇô each name strongly linked with the ultimate destination, I could not help feel like I was taking the steps of giants by traveling here.
I warped to the gate for 'New Eden' and found myself stopping, the occasion was too momentous to just 'jump in'.
Gate to New Eden
Fortunately, I noticed one other pilot in local and felt the need to tell him all about what I was doing Conversation
The mention of wormholes overrode my current anxiety problems with gate operation as I tried the direct approach to getting a guided tour of these most elusive locations, however:
Conversation
I would not have it said that Twoflower is a man to be deterred though so I added my new friend to my address book with the certainty that he would indeed take me to a wormhole.
To my pleasant surprise, he announced that he will be joining me in the New Eden system as there was an obelisk to be photographed. I felt instantly reinvigorated, for we were a team on an epic quest. I jumped head first into New Eden!
I had only one thing to say, which summed up my journey, the experience and the final result:
GÇ£This is coolGÇ¥
NEW EDEN TOURIST ADVICE: Below are pictures of two very cool things in the system of New Eden. I would highly recommend viewing these first hand as my pictures are a poor substitute, therefore, if you are going to make the pilgrimage I would suggest not viewing these pictures.
The EVE gate My shuttle at the EVE gate
Cryogenic was continuing to hunt for this elusive obelisk, though I'm unsure what exactly it is, it has been around since 2006 at least. A worthy picture to be taken, if one can find it! Though I feared that space has since swallowed it whole.
Conversation with an EVE gate background
Something else had caught my eye. I had warped to one of several secure containers that were in space, each of them had unique names, left by numerous pilgrims before me. I opened up my scanner and the result is possibly one of the most genuine and awesome experiences of my life. Never before have I felt so proud of the New Eden community.
Cans in space
More cans in space
I took several minutes, just to revel in the moment. I knew that this would be only time I could experience this for the first time. One particular can caught my eye, sadly misspelled, 'turist destination' it said GÇô and right there I decided that when my journey was complete I would man a ship, scan down that can and lay my own right there next to it. A tourists journey, complete.
However, my thoughts were promptly brought back to the present as I was made a most intriguing offer. |

Part 2.5: A quick thank you and comments
First of all, I'd like to thank you all for your comments! I'd like to address a couple of these now before the rumour mill goes into overdrive and we have a scandal on our hands!
So, some astute readers have pointed out that there have in fact been other 'tourists' in the past and this morning I received a message from CONCORD pointing out that impersonating the 'first tourist' when I am infact not will result in summary execution. Thus, I have an addendum.
I am now: Twoflower Octiron, New Eden's first* tourist
*first - Defined as: The first, self professed 'tourist', traveling low security and null security (though primarily null), with the stated intention of taking pictures of cool stuff, in a shuttle.
I am confident that this will please everyone. Moving on...
ElQuirko wrote:Twoflower Octiron wrote:Jonah Gravenstein wrote:+1 for the name, did you remember the luggage? Check the shuttle name :) So I'm assuming that, on more than one occasion, your shuttle has beaten down or swallowed a titan?
Well, my shuttle did get shot at recently and vanished for a few jumps, so who knows what it got up to! It did look a little different when it returned as well.
Jint Hikaru wrote:Been meaning to do a tourist trip around Eve for a long time, have a big long list of 'sights' to see somewhere.

Would you mind terribly furnishing me with this list? I am not well versed in the history of New Eden and would appreciate some pointers!
Solstice Project wrote:I hate this guy.

This seems like an unfair way to vent your bad mood. Nonetheless, I look forward to meeting you.
Now, I would like to put something out to you, the interested public. As I said in the first post, I scoured the map and identified alliances based on two criteria 1) Size and 2) likely sounding name.
What I need from you is other historic landmarks and systems to visit, whether they be locally or universally important. Tell me them and I shall visit them. I'd like at least 100 things on this list, including the alliances (27 of these).
Thank you again and part 3 is to follow in the near future. |

Part 3: The loneliest man alive
I announced my intention to leave the New Eden system and press on with my adventure, but Cryogenic Amatin informed me that there was a wormhole right here, in New Eden. I had intended to befriend him over many months and turn up one day, a wise and seasoned traveller and have us journey majestically into a wormhole. But here he was, offering to show me the way; he invited me into my first ever fleet: Joining a fleet
I eagerly warped to my brand new fleet mate, once more I felt as if we were two bold adventurers pushing the boundaries of known space! I was more excited than an excitable puppy on puppy Christmas day which also happened to be this particular puppies birthday. In less than one day I had seen the centre of the universe and would be swiftly following that up with the utmost uncharted edge of it. Utterly wonderous!
For those that have never seen one, this is a wormhole: Wormhole
And this is my friend, Cryogenic Amatin in his trusty covert ops ship GÇô this man gives me hope that there will be helpful souls no matter what path in New Eden I tread: Cryogenic Amatin
And for those who get the same pre-jump nerves as me, Cryogenic is there to talk me through it all: Simple instructions
This was it. My first day as a pilot in New Eden, my first day as a tourist. I was about to step off the map, go over the edge, as it were. I entered the wormhole.
I was not sure what to expect on the other side. Perhaps space would be green here? Or gravity would work upside down? Perhaps in wormhole space, the spaceship flew the pilot? I just did not know, so I warped to a planet and saw that it was indeed, orange and brown: Mysterious wormhole planet
Woah! How different is that, eh?
It took me a minute or two to collect my senses (for the wacky wormhole gravity had sent them flying) and remember my mission - to boldly fly up to the home station, parade in front of it and take a picture. Unfortunately, there were no stations.
Cryogenic also informed me that other pilots don't show up in the local channel, this I could be in the company of a thousand pilots and never know it. I tentatively sent out a small GÇ£helloGÇ¥ followed by GÇ£I'm a touristGÇ¥. Silence. Complete silence. Finally, after a minute of waiting, the silence continued. Here I was, outside the known universe and I was the loneliest man alive.
Fortunately however I had learnt something about New Eden and I knew that people put something known as a POS at moons. I would daringly fly up to one of these POS's and heroically photograph myself! I craftily found one using my scanner and hit the warp button.
Somewhere between this picture: In a shuttle
And this picture: In a pod
I appear to have lost my shuttle.
I wouldn't have it said that losing a shuttle would stop Twoflower Octiron. I piloted my pod right up to that POS shield and defiantly took my picture: Me at a POS
NEW EDEN TOURIST TOP TIP GÇô If you set yourself to approach a structure within a POS shield while in your pod you can literally bounce on and off the shield. Fun for: 5 minutes. ISK cost: Free! New Eden Activity rating: 4/10
I re-contacted Cryogenic who was somewhere on the other side of the wormhole. He had noted the loss of my shuttle but I assured him this was of no consequence and had managed to get a nice shot of myself outside a POS. He mentioned that the rarest ores in the universe were in wormholes, alas that there were no asteroid belts in this one. Conversation
It appears that much more of a wormhole will open up to me once I can scan things down and fly a different ship; I shall endeavour to return to a wormhole in the future and sample all of its delights. But for now I followed my handy bookmark and re-entered normal space, falling off the roof of my pod as normal gravity reasserted itself.
I had a lot of fun with Cryogenic Amatin and my first day has put me in a fantastic mood and on the right foot to begin this epic quest. But now the depths of null security space were calling, I had the burning desire to set a new destination and spectacularly zip off into the distance with wide eyes and abandon.
Picking a random system off the map, I entered warp for the 27 jump journey to 0.0 Journey to null sec
All that was left on arrival was to jump through that gate. I felt that once I went through that portal there would be no turning back, that the first day, the easy day, would be over and that from here on out the quest began proper and that it would be harder going GÇô a harsher world lay out there for sure. The quest would only end when I returned to the EVE gate and placed my can alongside its brothers. Gateway to null sec
I jumped. |

Part 4: Curatores Veritatis Alliance GÇô Sex or death cult?
I had jumped.
I opened my eyes slowly for I was terrified of what I might see. My breath was held and my hands steadied, the slightest movement could uncloak my ship and reveal me to this Gatecamp
Turns out that the Bestower (which according to my excellent sources is an industrial ship) had also jumped through the gate at the same time. I waved to him eagerly - a fellow adventurer. I then realised that he couldn't see me and stopped waving. There was also a casual Tengu (that's a strategic cruiser folks) sat around the gate, perhaps he was there to welcome people to null security with cookies and wine?
I was eager to make my first 0.0 docking so I warped towards the only station in the system. Just as I was about to dock I saw the pilot of the Bestower appear in his pod, apparently the Tengu wasn't there to welcome people after all. Was this going to be my experience from here on out? Heroically dodging Tengus holding explosive cookie boxes and innocents being deconstructed into matter in mere milliseconds. I filed these thoughts under 'someone else's problems, I'm sure'.
For those who have never seen the inside of a 0.0 station, here is a picture with a little bit of information about the alliance who own it First station!
I un-docked to take my customary picture and had to quickly re-dock when I saw a ship called 'Nemesis' as I thought that perhaps it was my nemesis. Station
I decided I would find out what it was the Tengu pilot wanted and precisely whose nemesis was floating around outside, I made contact Conversation
So to summarise; within 3 minutes of entering 0.0 and 1 minute of initiating contact I had seen a peaceful industrialist blown to pieces, been the victim of attempted extortion for photography and been threatened with certain death. Perhaps he really was my nemesis.
From all this excitement I took two things: 1) GÇ£there is great stuff in d61aGÇ¥ 2) I'm sure no one will hurt an innocent tourist
Which left me with only one option, I jumped into D61A-G. On reflection it was probably inevitable that the other side looked like this: Gatecamp 2
Let's take a little time out here. After seeing what happened to the Bestower I had not jumped through completely unprepared. I opened with 5 choice lines that were sure to confuse, flatter, confuse and endear the pilots while at the same time ensuring my continued onward progress Masterplan |

I undocked quickly to test out the controls on my new pod but when I went to re-enter the station I noticed something I hadn't the first time. I had to pay to dock! It appears that economics is at work wherever you go, especially on tourist holidays GÇô everything gets more expensive!
After a few more enquiries with the locals everything went quiet, it appears that there was some form of gagging order in effect. I decided to move onwards, picking a random system to the south a whole 18 jumps into the heart of 0.0. Skilfully avoiding the gatecamp by waiting until they had gone I made an uneventful journey to 9UY4-H which turned out to be a system owned by the Curatores Veritatis Alliance, all I had to do now was find their home station and photograph it! http://eve-files.com/dl/264848
Well, that was easy.
Here it is, the top secret staging ground of the entire CVA alliance:
http://eve-files.com/dl/264849
And here is where things get weird. I thought I would have to earn their trust, that the area would be heavily patrolled and I would have to run between asteroid belts to avoid being hunted down. Instead, this happened: http://eve-files.com/dl/264850
Despite my seemingly genuine protestations at being recruited to a space orgy, I had in fact instantly un-docked to participate but was left disappointed with the turnout and promptly re-docked in protest and so that I could continue to pretend to be shocked and appalled. http://eve-files.com/dl/264851
It appeared that the members of this secret fight club/space orgy would remain more tight lipped that a small mouthed man who had sewn his mouth up, installed a zip and locked it shut. That was until I uttered one phrase which rocked this liberal space men to their core and opened them up like an exotic dancer's le------.
http://eve-files.com/dl/264852
I undocked.
Even now, I am not sure if CVA are a sex cult or a death cult. Whether they practice space orgies or an illicit fight club. I shall present the evidence and let you decide:

http://eve-files.com/dl/264855
http://eve-files.com/dl/264856
Nonetheless this was my first sight of a proper fleet! I could not deny how cool that was and I said so. I was then informed that the pilots of CVA and it's friends do not pod people GÇô apart from terrorists. They also said that in the rest of null security that I would be podded on sight unless I was 'blue' to them (this means standings!). I filed this information away as irrelevant and watched as the mighty fleet warped off.
http://eve-files.com/dl/264857
I greatly enjoyed my time with CVA and their friends. They are really friendly and do not want to pod you GÇô I've moved my clone to their station so that I can visit them whenever I get podded. I recommend that any player who would like to have a taste of null security space go and visit them GÇô though do beware you do not get sucked into one of their orgies... unless you like that kind of thing. CVA get a New Eden travel rating of: 9/10
It was as I looked at my map to plan the next stage of my journey that for the second time I received divine help in a way that would change the course of my journey forever.

I can't pretend that I am not furious, because I am. I was lied to, cheated and made a fool of. All that time I was stood there looking at it and they all pointed in opposite directions. Well, who has the last laugh truly? I'll tell you who, me! Sten Mattson in this very thread informed me that 9UY4-H is one of the core systems of Providence, thus CVA and all the time I was in there asking for directions to their home system not one of them thought to point this out.
Well, guess what? I got a picture of that station as well! But I still love the CVA guys.

Hehe, I'm an old fan of some of the old tourism forums and blogs and entirely glad someone like you has taken up the profession. It is something rarely done with enthusiasm. I wish you luck and fortune on your happy trails and I will be following you as a lot of others are.
I remember my first outing to the Eve Gate. It was most enlightening and rather... trippy. I must do it again sometime. Perhapse take a bunch of newer wannabe tourists.
You ever need help then hit me up ingame. Also, I'm sure that there is a big list of places unique to the rest of the systems. I'll look into it.
Happy trails.

I think I never had such an awesome reading from "a newb" than yours.
Being an Eve nerd despite me I can't get out this little idea in the corner of my brain telling me "another alt posting" but, the but in the butter, everyone starts his Eve adventure as he wants it to be, so I like the idea of the true "tourist" with a gigantic chance ass hole not getting that much scrubs on his way as I knowing a little bet Eve does (because I'm lazy but I don't want to dmit it publicly...crap!)
I just bm this thread, it's just so awesome, thank you very much. Cya soon buddy.

Part 5: Access denied!
After the last of the mighty CVA fleet warped off I found myself alone. I was floating outside a huge space station constructed with the labour of hundreds of pilots, an exercise in phenomenal dedication, resources and planning; what's more, there are hundreds of these all over New Eden. What did I have? A shuttle, a camera and not a clue where I was going. Never have I felt so small, unimportant and insignificant.
Not that feelings of inadequacy should prevent my surge across the ether! I fired up my map and was about to pick a system at random to visit when I noticed this: Message from the ether
Was this the hand of some god? A message beamed across the wide expanse of space? Or was it a malfunction and I'd end up visiting another vicious gatecamp? I did the only sensible thing and began my longest trek yet; an eye watering 47 jumps.
It was 12 jumps later when I ran into the gatecamp. Don't panic though, I had learned from my previous experience that clever words alone would not sway such heartless vagabonds, I needed something real, something tangible, something that would both say GÇ£You're not allowed to hurt meGÇ¥ and GÇ£Don't you dare hurt meGÇ¥. I brought my passport. An even better master plan
Who would dare defy the authority of the New Eden travel board and attack someone with a legitimate passport on legitimate peaceful travels? I decided that in the eventuality that it did happen I would open with over confidence, following up with stark indignation in case they started shooting.
These guys have no respect for proper documentation apparently GÇô I put the plan into action: Evil vagabonds
Fortunately, I did not forget to photograph my corpse this time, so here it is, for your viewing pleasure. It is also a fantastic view of my anus: My anus
I would not have it said that Twoflower Octiron ignores obvious signs of divine intervention and cowers in a station because of a mere podding, so I cunningly avoided the system of my demise and set off on the now 52 jump journey. I had developed a brilliant strategy regarding my clone, as I moved through CVA space I moved my clone when I docked, by repeating this over the course of the 52 jumps I would have less distance to travel if I got brutally murdered! What could possibly go wrong?
Of all the potential catastrophes that I had envisaged, meeting this man was not one of them: A strange conversation
He appears to be a time traveling black hole collector, or suffering from radiation sickness from the sun. Or perhaps he is altogether lying and is in fact, hiding something. I invited my new friend, Ora, to the sun so that we could have a picture together to commemorate our little chat, he turned up in covert ops ship and quickly disappeared again. Thinking this was some practical joke involving his cloaking device, sneaking up on me and shouting boo, I sat back in my shuttle and giggled away to myself. After 5 minutes it became obvious that Ora was not in fact sneaking up on me and when I inquired he informed me he had gone to a relic site.
I thrust my embarrassment at giggling to myself aside as a relic site sounded cool, dangerous, exciting and cool and I just had to go there and find out what one was. I could use the knowledge given to me by Cryogenic Amatin and informed my new adventure companion that we could form a fleet and I would warp to him.
This is a relic site: Abandoned trash
Apparently the aim of the game is to hunt through the floating junk and crack open a few containers which then vomit their contents out into space and you have to grab it as fast as you can. I attempted to help Ora but was utterly useless. Desperately chasing abandoned trash
Though I did notice something which made me giggle uncontrollably causing my shuttle to rock in a most suggestive manner; this was the space of Against All Authorities. Now, at the time I had made a small mistake and had wrongly attributed my previous podding to the guns of Against All Authorities (when it had in fact been The Kadeshi). Putting small injustices aside, I was also morally opposed to their hostile stance against all forms of authority, as I was a tourist under the wing of the New Eden tourist board I felt personally victimised. Thus I found it most pleasing that Ora was here, stealing from their relic site. Though, I keep a public face of total neutrality of course.
I thanked Ora for showing me around the relic site and giving me insight into what a lone, new player could get up to in this hostile environment. I bid him farewell and promised to keep him updated on my quest. I had to move on because I had a more pressing issue. Yet another catastrophe had struck! Access denied!
Apparently the station didn't like me, my corporation or my alliance. As an unaffiliated tourist I was without a corporation or alliance, that meant that they specifically did not like me. They hadn't even met me and had decided that I, specifically me, was not allowed to dock there. Is Nexus command possibly the least welcoming place in the entirety of the universe? This took my plans of clone jumping, scrunched them up, stamped on them, set them on fire and then put the ashes in 100 cargo containers before jettisoning them into 100 random wormholes before chucking a bomb in afterwards for good measure.
I could only hope that my divine quest to the bottom of the map would yield some answers; for every jump I went, the further from my clone I would be. I was shortly to find out that there was no docking to be had for a tourist outside of CVA space. |

Part 5: Access Denied! (2)
It was about 5 jumps away from my destination when I came face to face with destiny. A man who read my fortune and warned me of the trials ahead. The conversation unnerved me so much that I could not bring myself to present it to you, he spoke of the dangers of null security, the difficulty in finding the places I sought, the impossibility of ever docking again and then this, his final words: I really am going to die
I was relieved. To have met this saviour so close to my impending doom, to have my death foretold and now have the ability to escape it. I turned my shuttle around, picked the nearest 1.0 security system I could find made for home. I was determined to never leave that system and spend my days as a freelance veldspar photographer.
Alternatively, I ignored this rambling mad man and jumped through the gate. Turns out it was a lovely looking gate: A lovely looking gate
A few more jumps and I was there. I began, 52 jumps ago, directed to this very location by a mysterious sign on my map. I had been shot, killed, taken on a major heist of relics and been threatened with my very death. I jumped through and saw the answer to all my questions: Alone
I was devastated. I was sure that this would be where I would learn the secrets of docking in null security. I warped between desolate asteroid fields, despondent. Perhaps I really was that small, unimportant and insignificant and should have turned my shuttle for empire space, this was clearly no place for me. |

If that list is too long then here are some highlights from a fellow explorer (I finished all 3 sets of the competition) Operation Highlander (Luminaire) - The crash site of the Shiigeru onto the capital world it was trying to protect, it is still burning Ishukone Headquarters in Malkalen - Another site of mass death...I'm sensing a pattern here also still burning, in space, five years later CONCORD Headquarters in Yulai - Get your passport reissued Steve (C9N-CC) - The first built and first lost titan Monolith (Dead End) - cryogenic Amatin was so close! This is three jumps out from New Eden and since you're heading back there anyway...
and my personal favourite Seylin I - The location behind the name of the Seylin Incident, 500 million people die from an unexplained event with the Seylin star. This happens simultaneously in 8 other locations as normal planets are boiled into shattered planets while wormholes first tear into existence. Was it an Amarrian weapon? A troublesome Thukker Tribe Convoy was wiped out by it. Or was it the first strike of Sansha Kuvakei's resurgence? He seems to have unique control over wormholes, spawning stable and secure links to any system he wants, even in Jove space. |

He seems to have unique control over wormholes, spawning stable and secure links to any system he wants, even in Jove space. That story is revealed in the Chronicle Arc, "End Of The World"(IIRC, it should at least be something similar). it details the story of the appearance of the wormholes, from the very beginning when a Sisters Of EVE agent following the trail of faint, nearly-impossible-to-find signatures in deadspace to the discovery of the superweapon shown in the last scene of the Empyrean Age trailer by a Thukker captain and his crew of a Vagabond HAC, and how they manipulated rogue drones to destroy that superweapon. and AFAIK the "Shattered" planets are also a result of this. You may gain the knowledge, but you will lose your belief, with all its mystery and comfort. If there was proof, absolute and certain, there is an afterlife, why not quit this life, and be done with it? Ponder about these things all your life, and you're a philosopher. Compress these ponderings into a couple of pages, and you'll go mad. |

A wonderful adventure: Where to go next?
Sorry, this is not the next part, per se. It is however an integral process for this most epic of journeys. As I mentioned before, I want to visit two kinds of places: - All major alliances/alliances with intriguing names and to get a photograph of their home station (or whichever I claim to be the home station) and to hopefully meet some of their pilots - Interesting, rare, hard to access or beautiful locations across the entirety of the universe.
Unfortunately, I know so little about New Eden so I rely somewhat on your help for picking the best places to go. I have identified 28 alliances that meet my stringent conditions and will visit these in a random and unpredictable order. I have also identified some intriguing exciting locations to visit with the help of respondents in this thread. I have also compiled a wishlist of things I'd like to see or do - Here I may need some help in identifying precisely where i might access some of these. Others, I am content to fly around until I run into it!

Part 6: Executive Decisions
Clearly the signal that I had followed to this system was a joke by some prankster who was at this very moment hiding behind a veldspar rock, laughing at me. I powered my shuttle down, crawled into bed and didn't leave it for a week. I brooded, brooded, slept and brooded some more.
Then it hit me!
The veldpsar rock that is.
I woke with a start.
I'd also had an epiphany. Who has ever heard of mystical signals? Who ever got anywhere by having it handed to them? Who doesn't have to work to become the best? The answer is of course: ghost hunters, aristocrats and geniuses. I, however, was none of these and realised this, I had to make my own luck.
I launched out of bed, landing squarely in my chair and fired up the shuttle, whereupon I had the shock of my life. There was a man, in the system and he was willing to talk to me. This is what he had to say: Worst saviour ever
He promptly jumped out of the system, giving me no help whatsoever. He even wished me luck in getting home! Home. Where is that for a nomadic tourist like me? My clone resides in CVA space and whilst I like those guys, I'm not sure they'd adopt me and call me one of their own. I came into this world in a station deep in empire space, I left it half an hour later and never looked back. I had no home to go to, so I resolutely ignored his luck giving and waited for the saviour that I knew would come.
Unfortunately, that saviour turned out to be the same man and he was very serious about helping me get back 'home': Seriously, who is this guy helping here?
GÇ£This is an unfortunate turn of eventsGÇ¥ I replied casually in an attempt to throw him off. For what began now was a deadly game of cat and mouse, the winner would claim this system. I had damn well sat in this system long enough awaiting someone to come and answer my questions so by golly I was going to win this and wait until they bothered to turn up! So naturally, after a whole 15 minutes of warping around constantly to avoid being hunted down, he grew bored and left the system.
I was victorious.
I was exhausted and collapsed.
The following day I did not wake up with as much gusto as the previous day, the events that had followed made me apprehensive as I peered at the ships scanner. But at long last my perseverance had paid off and I knew that following the mysterious white circle was the best decision of my journey so far: Answers at last
This may not seem like much, but Panosp is a hero amongst men. He informed me that in this area of 0.0 that many people are GÇ£rentersGÇ¥ - these are alliances who rent space from other alliances. Perhaps you're wondering where the 'saviour' bit comes in? Well, Panosp informed me of a station owned by Northern Associates, one of the alliances on my list, and undoubtedly the next step on my quest to dock at a station. It was in the next system.
He also informed me that in order to dock at an alliance's station I needed them to grant me positive standing and that no, I could not just ask them for it. My epiphany the previous day echoed in my head, who gets anywhere by having it just handed to them? I pictured myself embarking on an epic quest to win the hearts and minds of Northern Associates, perhaps to slay a titan or rescue an exotic dancer; I would dodge gate camps by day and drink Quafe in seedy bars by night. It turns out however that this high honour is granted only to other friendly alliances, one of which, I am not. This could be problematic, so I jumped into AXDX-F.
Panosp had informed me that Northern Associates don't really have a 'home' station so to speak, so I decided that for this evening, the station in AXDX-F would be it and proudly took my picture: Me at the station!
It was at this point that I had a stunning revelation. I didn't have to join an alliance at all. Allow me to explain, you see, all alliances are made up of corporations so all I had to do was join one and have the alliance give them the required standing. Thus removing the considerably onerous task of creating a vast empire for the sake of docking in a station. What's more, I could make my own corporation. This, was utter genius.
Now I just had to find out how to make one: Getting help from Northern Associates
This was brilliant. I had flown 52 jumps to discover that I needed to join an alliance in order to gain the standings to allow me to dock. I however had circumvented this tedious business and decided I would make my very own corporation. The only problem was, I didn't want to fly 52 jumps back the way I had come. |

Part 6: Executive decisions (2)
NaNNeR HaMMeR had a solution: Express ride back
My clone was safely delivered to my CVA friends in F-YH5B and I wasted no time in putting my plan into action. Only to find this: Office denied?
Apparently my plan is a blatant breach of SEC rules! For a moment I felt like taking a leaf out of Against All Authorities book and blatantly disregarding such nonsense and setting my corporation up in a disused locker room until the SEC saw sense and granted me a proper office. I vented my fury to the unfortunate pilots of CVA: Ranting and raving
I wouldn't have it said that Twoflower Octiron flouts the rules though, as the first holder of an official New Eden passport I felt it only right that I uphold the rules and follow protocol. I promptly set my course to the nearest low security system where I could safely make my corporation. I docked in the system of Mamet, the Zoar and Sons factory to be precise and wondered if these divine signs would cease to follow me. One office left for rental it said. I knew then, that my office must reside here.
Here it is. The tourists of New Eden corporation. Power is mine!
I leant back and grinned. This was good. I had real power now. A tourist, under the wing of the New Eden tourist board, CEO of his very own corporation. I began to giggle, then cackle and before long I was hooting manically in my pod. New Eden, beware, for Twoflower Octiron is prepared and he is going to photograph you!
I made my first executive decision: To convince Against All Authorities to abandon their crusade against order and to grant me docking rights to their stations.

Part 7: Against All Authorities GÇô The barbarians of New Eden?
With the full weight of my new found corporation behind me, a masterful vision laid out before me and the self assured confidence of a tourist within me I plotted this course to head full tilt towards Against All Authorities. At this point I still mistakenly believed that their pilots had podded me previously and this had rankled me, thus I had three objectives for this trip. 1) To seek the truth, are they really against all authorities 2) to secure docking rights in their stations and 3) to take a picture of their home station. Route to the Barbarians!
Unfortunately I was waylaid several times on the journey. Thus:
Part 7: Opportunities Missed
The first occurred while jumping out of a system owned by the 'Mildly Intoxicated'. A rather attractive lady hailed me, her speech was slurred and I'm sure I saw her ship hit a billboard, but she was a fan!. Not wanting to miss the chance to meet a member of the adoring public, who so happens to be female, I spun my shuttle around and jumped back. I was disappointed to learn that while she was a fan, she was not 'that kind' of fan. Though on one hand the resultant conversation confirmed one thing and on the other provided me with an excellent tourist hotspot to visit.
It was confirmed that there is indeed a universe wide gagging order in effect, handed down by the corporate elites to stop their minions from harmless chatter. Our chat on the open channels quickly faltered and my burning questions went unanswered, which were 1) Are you all alcoholics? 2) Do you support the evil barbarians? She then contacted privately and both explained and did not explain what happened. Corporate secrets
Is this a personal gagging order aimed at me? To disrupt my adventures and prevent me from sharing them? Perhaps this is a directive issued by Against All Authorities, who in fact, rule with an iron fist. Publicly they eschew all other authority while enforcing their own oppressive laws. My resolve doubled, I would get to the bottom of their shenanigans.
Back in the present, Rhetaku was informing me of a little gem to be found, only 34 jumps away. A mysterious, but important relic
I was first struck but the existence of some newfangled network for sharing information on which I could search for whatever I needed. I then disregarded this revelation as utterly irrelevant. Secondly though, I had the location of an exciting piece of history; for those who are unfamiliar with what awaits in that system, the surprise shall remain. I added this location to my now extensive to-do list and flew onwards to the barbarians of New Eden.
I was sidetracked once more as a faint memory of a proposal reached my consciousness. A member of The Kadeshi alliance had mentioned that perhaps the CVA fleet was not as impressive as I had thought. When I questioned him further he provided this system as the source of the unstoppable Kadeshi fleet. I noticed that the space I was currently in belonged to these intergalactic behemoths, so I swung about once more and made for I-NGI8 for seeing a mighty fleet is always worth a detour
I landed, warped to the station, promptly took my picture and hung it up with the others. The station of The Kadeshi?
No, wait. Something was not quite right. I looked at it again.
Perhaps you didn't see it the first time, I didn't either. I picked it up, turned it this way and that. Finally, only after holding it upside down, standing 2.5 feet away and squinting did I finally spot it. Something fishy?
Still not got it?
Check the corner. The top left one. Or the bottom right one if you're still holding it upside down like a moron.
No? I'll be more specific then. The alliance.
It's the wrong damn alliance!
My suspicions were confirmed when I spoke to the local pilots. Denial
That wrapped that up nicely, bow and all. Apparently I had been sent here to either 1) die or 2) be made a fool of. Fortunately, I covered my foolishness by accusing them of being secret Kadeshi members and fleeing the system. There was no grand fleet awaiting my arrival, ready to wow me with titans and astound me with carriers; I was left feeling rather disappointed |

Part 7: Opportunities Missed (2)
The failed adventure was not entirely fruitless however. I met a nice young man called Treborr MintingtonJr who was on his way to his first ever fleet fight; I was in awe. I had bravely warped into the world in a cheap shuttle without a care in the world. He was about to take the heroic first steps of risking his life for a noble cause. Then he agreed to let me come along! Fleet fight secrets
As agreed, the identity of the pilot who gave the secret locations remains. I wouldn't have it said that Twoflower Octiron betrays the trust of his friends!
Alas, during the course of our conversation I had been travelling in the opposite direction and was now over 20 jumps from the fight. It looked like I wouldn't be experiencing my first ever fleet fight either! What's worse, it had not gone well for our new found warrior.A hero falls
Now. I'd like to talk about something important here. I set out on this journey because I had heard of the beautiful places the universe had to offer. I had read the stories of epic feats of planning, logistics and construction and then the heroic deeds done in the name of war, destruction and scamming. There seemed to be so many places to visit that had a rich history and significance on the daily workings of New Eden. I wanted to visit them all.
This conversation reminded me of one thing. What makes all the above happen? The pilots. You.
I set out on this part of the journey to meet a huge alliance, on the way I tried to view a massive fleet of ships, observe brutal destruction first hand and have been given the location of one of the most significant relics in the universe. But what I managed to find instead was a new pilot who had come into the world with ideals, enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. What we just witnessed was his first combat, his first experiencing of exerting his will on others, his first chance to change something. We have just seen him become a building block of this universe, seen him become a man who will make stories happen. This is the most beautiful thing in New Eden.
But now, I really must go and find Against All Authorities. |

Part 8: Against All Authorities GÇô The barbarians of New Eden?
As a tourist I am neutral by definition. See, explore, learn, understand and take pictures - that is the first line in every tourist handbook. However, I fear these handbooks were not written for the lawless back alley's of New Eden where I find myself; it is increasingly difficult to maintain my neutrality. Against All Authorities had podded me (or so I believed at the time). Now you would be forgiven for grabbing your screen and yelling GÇ£welcome to null security. What did you expect?GÇ¥ But it isn't the fact that they podded me that rankled me, no. It's their name, their stance, the very thing they stand for. Against ALL Authorities. I mean, do they not know about the New Eden Tourist Board? How could anyone be against their authority to issue passports?
Thus when I entered their system I opened like so: Laying down the law
I opened politely, followed with the critical issue (rage disguised as a question), slipped in a cheeky photograph opportunity before challenging the very foundation of their entire alliance. Dropping it like it's hot, as they say.
I quickly learnt two things: Yes, they were actually specifically against me and the Tourist Board, for Professor firebolt clearly knew my ultimate intentions, showing that they have been following me closely. He then went on to show that Against All Authorities do indeed rule with an iron fist of laws, protocol and authority even as they stamp it out across the galaxy. 500 million for a photograph!
So I did the only sensible thing. I flew right up to that station and took a photo. For free. Yes, you heard me. For free. A photo worth 500 million ISK
Unfortunately there were some scary looking individuals sitting outside so I took a hurried snap and quickly fled the vicinity. But it appears that once these vagabonds know that I will not kowtow to their demands they became more forthcoming. I delicately enquired about my third objective, docking. Detective work
It ended up being a mini quest all of it's own, I waited eagerly for the commanders reply. It took about 5 minutes for me to realise he had not replied. A further 5 minutes and I began to think he was ignoring me. 5 minutes after that he disappeared from the system.
However, it appeared that my heroic act of defiance had created a stir within their ranks. My persistence had won some of them over to my cause and I was invited to the station, perhaps I would finally be able to dock! Welcomed by AAA
While Liviy and my new friend firebolt were inviting me to their humble abode, no doubt unwrapping numerous plates of cocktail sausages and standing by with the beer; Thumernlife was spouting off about imminent death.
Turns out Thumernlife was correct. And there were no sausages.
Now. It was at this point I realised my previous assertion was incorrect. On examining previous kill mails it turns out that Against All Authorities had not in fact podded me before. However, they had definitely just blown my shuttle up. So I felt justified in maintaining the same level of incomprehensible rage.
I decided to demonstrate my resolve and perfectly prioritised priorities. Thumernlife responded by detailing the harsh realities of null security space. Definitely going to die
Not only could I not dock without being set to 'blue', but I'd also be hounded, hunted and shot! Fortunately for me, I really was winning them over, though I was slightly suspicious of some of their motivations. Curious offers
I wouldn't have it said that Twoflower Octiron falls for the same ruse twice, so I steadfastly refused. It appears that this show of moral fibre was the final test andshowed the locals my true strength. This time, they truly accepted me as one of their own; we chatted about my travels so far. I often get asked two things wherever I go:
Why do I not fly a covert ops ship? What am I training?
Allow me to answer here so that I may forever more be free of them! I fly a shuttle because I am a poor tourist and shuttles are pretty expensive out here GÇô plus the shuttle is the epitome of neutrality. Secondly, I neglected to purchase any skills books on my departure so have spent lazy days reading about navigation. I hope this adequately clears up these areas of intense debate. Also the name Goonswarm was raised once more, allegedly they are the fearsome leaders of a vast confederation of alliances GÇô known to be full of ruthless, nefarious, scamming dirt bags who will pod first and ignore questions later. Luckily, they are on my list to visit!
Talking of shuttles... I was rapidly forgetting my anger at the pilots of Against All Authorities and was quite enjoying my conversation with them, right up until this happened: An act of kindess
For I fell in love with Against All Authorities. Or perhaps just with Ralyn Longs! True love?
I was so buoyed with the elation of the moment. Perhaps I did not need to dock at all? I could have friends in all corners of the universe and they could bring me ships like offerings to the great shuttle god. I would fly amongst the stars, sponsored by the alliances of New Eden. So caught up in the moment was I that I decided to take the plunge and ask the ultimate question, to put my new friends to the test:
GÇ£Want a group shot outside the station?GÇ¥ I said...

Part 8: Against All Authorities GÇô The barbarians of New Eden? (2)
Party time!
Now I was truly excited. I was going to get a picture of some of the toughest pilots in New Eden and they would be flying ventures! Wow. Just wow.
Here is who came out for the photo shoot. Naturally one of them locked on to me instantly: Camera whores
Now, it wasn't the orgy of sex or violence that CVA presented me with and it wasn't the most fearsome collection of ships imaginable. But it was proof. Proof that a humble tourist could enter a system, be ridiculed and blown up and then turn those aggressors into fast friends and be zooming around a station with them taking pictures.
I proceeded to take a couple: A nice pictures Another nice picture
Then the excitement got to the pilots: A little bit childish...
Then the inevitable happened: Should have seen that coming
Finally the other inevitable happened: Really should have seen this coming
Turns out that Against All Authorities can only let their hair down for so long before falling back into their default setting. Kill. Luckily Ariena Darine was able to control herself slightly longer than her fellows and saw that I got a replacement shuttle. Unfortunately there is only room in my heart for one and Ralyn got there first.
It was clear though that my time amongst Against All Authorities was at an end, it was time to move on. I waved goodbye and thanked everyone for their hospitality (of one sort or the other). I had thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I had learned that once you get past the vicious exterior of some of these hardened killers then they are more than happy to welcome you, show you around; provided they get to shoot you afterwards.
As I jumped out of the system I set my destination to one of the most important places in the entirety of New Eden. - - - - Wait. Wait! No really, wait!
Perhaps the more astute of you may have realised that I achieved point 1 of my plan (turns out I was never podded by Against All Authorities) and point 2 (I got many pictures of the station). But point 3, docking rights. Well now, that is an ongoing saga and we will get to that in due course. |

Well thank you for the tip. Sounds just like the kind of place I want to heedlessly plunge into!

Part 9: All the way to the bottom (via Steve) and then onto the silent guardians.
I have gorged myself. I have been vain, ignorant and gluttonous - I have been a bad tourist. I stepped into the vastness of null security space and spent my entire time amongst civilisation and the (mostly) civilised. Had I truly adventured anywhere? Casually flying around in my shuttle, callously invading the homes of the innocent and inflicting myself on their hospitality, it was like a holiday! I resolved that I would indeed adventure, I would head off the beaten path and I would find something interesting. I would be a proper tourist.
I decided to go all in. All the way to The Bottom in fact! But first, I would pay a visit to Steve. Now the more astute of you may know who (or indeed, what) Steve is. I however, did not. But on arrival in his system it did not take me long to find him: Steve
Here he is up close: More Steve
All about Steve
Me, visiting Steve
Steve is the first ever Titan class vessel built in the entire universe. That, is impressive. Perhaps more impressive is that he was also the first to be cruelly detonated. I understand that this is an amusing story involving the pilot falling asleep at the controls and waking up to find his rather expensive toy in bits. You ought to ask a pilot in a local bar for the full story though.
Perhaps you're thinking that this is merely a wreck. A mighty big one, yes, but a wreck all the same. GÇ£So what?GÇ¥ you might even be saying right now. Steve is a massive engineering and logistical feat and if there is one thing that I have come to appreciate on this journey it is the incredible dedication and ability of the pilots of New Eden. That wreck tells a story. It is a story. It embodies the actions of hundreds, if not thousands of people and it is their mark. It says we were here and this is what we did. Is that not what we all strive for? To leave our mark.
I have seen many stations now, each one lovingly constructed. I have seen containers placed in space, each one lovingly placed to remember out ancestors. I have seen hundreds of ships, each one lovingly piloted by a pilot. But this, this is unique, there shall only be one Steve and he represents what is so great about this universe. Our ability to create, live and destroy.
Nonetheless, I tore myself away and stopped comparing the size of mine to Steve's. I was heading south, further south. In fact I was going to go so far south that there was no more south left to go! I was going to the bottom of the universe. Observe: To the edge!
I confess, there is not much in it. But by the power vested in me, I declare LX5K-W to be the most southerly point in New Eden. This would undoubtedly be hallowed ground, a destination of pilgrims and a place of great sanctity. Thus I announced myself in an appropriate manner as befitting the status of such a wondrous place:
GÇ£My name is Twoflower Octiron and I am at the bottom of the universe!GÇ¥
I then proceeded to boogie my way around the system, recklessly flying through asteroid belts and waltzing around territorial claim units. I only stopped to photograph the station at the edge of creation: Station at the edge of creation
I began to feel guilty when none of the other pilgrims joined my ritualistic celebrations and it finally dawned on me that Inver Brass, the alliance tasked with protecting this most esteemed of locations, have taken a vow of silence to better dedicate themselves to their mission.
I left the system quietly.
I tried to communicate with some of the pilots in the surrounding systems, hoping that perhaps one would slip up and forget their vow in the face of my inquisitiveness. I flew through countless systems and was met with a stony wall of silence, every pilot was a member of the same corporation, whose name was written in code: The silent guardian
These are clearly the elite guardians of the temple of the south. With a security status of 5.0 it was evident that this was man was serious about his job. I would get no word from him. Fortunately I found an acolyte who was not versed in the secret code and whose tongue was considerable looser: The talkative guardian
Which also meant she knew nothing of the sacred task assigned to the alliance and was only able to direct me to their inner temple in the system of 3PPT-9. Would I find eternal truth there? The path to enlightenment? Or perhaps an empty system?
It was an empty system. Clearly the priests of Inver Brass exist on a plane far higher than any I can see with my tourist eyes. I resolved that I would pursue enlightenment and would return one day to talk to the high priest of Inver Brass and learn the mysteries of the universe. Perhaps accessing the stations of Against All Authorities was one of these elusive steps?
But it was at that moment that I was contemplating my first step towards eternal life that I discovered something very exciting. |

Part 9: All the way to the bottom (via Steve) and then onto the silent guardians. (2)
The longest gate jump in the universe. There was one problem though (well actually, there were two, or three, but we'll get to those in a minute), the other end of that jump would take me to Goonswarm space. I had heard things about Goonswarm and I was not sure I was ready to face the multiple poddings, hazings and general unpleasantness I was inevitably going to experience.
So I did what any sensible man would do. I set a course and I made the longest gate jump in New Eden: It's a long, long way...
Going in: Head first
Coming out: Arse first
I saw the words 'Goonswarm Federation' in the corner of my HUD, fled to the gate and jumped back to safety. But I had done it.
Then disaster struck. Problem number two and three to be precise. That was not the longest jump in New Eden, nor was it the second longest. It is third, at best. Here are numbers one and two: Trickery with maps
I felt cheated. Those jumps on first glance stop at a system in the middle, appearing to be two jumps. The cartographers are clearly hiding something. Perhaps they are in league with Inver Brass? Against All Authorities? Or even Goonswarm! Then I noticed the systems that they bypass, that is Jovian space. These jumps must be a crucial element on the path to enlightenment and I will be taking them.
I thought back on my day's adventure. I had begun with a realisation that I was merely bouncing from one comfort to another, visiting alliances and seeing nothing of the real New Eden. I had set forth on this day to visit some authentic space and marvel at the hidden delights. I had not been that adventurous though, but I felt that I was on the verge of some discovery, some universal truth.
I resolved that next time, next time, I would peek over the edge.
No. I would leap over it.
But for now I was to head towards empire space and sample some of the delights to be had there. |

I wouldn't have it said that Twoflower Octiron would abandon a task whilst in its midst. I got stuck at a gate in Jita and got turned around in Amarr a few times. But fear not, I continue to explore and will regale you with wonderous tales soon. |
