...are people who have multiple accounts. You can say what you want but its simply not fair. It ruins the game value for us normal people. I can't and won't compete against them. I have no idea how to fix it and that issue will remain the biggest problem of every MMORPG.

How does it ruin the game for you?
I know a lot of people who have multiple accounts and see nothing ruining about it (except macrominers). Many use multiple accounts to explore different aspects of EvE. If I ever want to pirate, i'm gonna get a 2nd account also. Don't want my high-horse main to drop down low

It's not a problem that needs to be solved though is it - CCP actively encourage it (wasn't there a bogof offer a while back?).
It's like saying pvp is the biggest problem - no it isn't, it's meant to be there.

having more accounts is definatly easier, but you spend all your time having to go between different windows all the time (which makes chatting harder)

The biggest flaw of EvE You do know the definition of biggest? None larger. Well for me the T2 market, the combat system and POS's are all much bigger flaws.
Did u get scammed?

OK if you are going to criticise something you have to at least make an attempt to quantify it. Multiple accounts mean people who are making multiple contributions to the development of this game and to keep it an active and profitable venture for CCP.
Granted it gives the player the opportunity to bring in greater profits but forgive me if I am wrong isn't that one of the aims of the game? This is not an issue of cheating or macro mining this is people wanting to invest their time and effort in creating their own little empire (one of the fundamentals of the game). There is still vast amounts of isk to be made by ratting with an individual character and by moving that character into a corporation/alliance you then become one of the many that could allow you to expand your profit making and defend yourself with the help of corp mates.
Seriously if you are gonna have a gripe then at least give some sensible points of view. Just not fair isn't one.
This is one of 4 alts I have and my total wealth isk wise is around 300 mil. Now this is nothing to what the capability of the game would allow me to create however I don't have hours and hours of time to play which takes me onto my final point that I pay four times what you pay to play this game and quite possibly spend less time playing it and you want to criticise me?
Rant over.
P.S. 1st day back at work after a break and your post caught the brunt of my frustration.

Many accounts per person make it easier for that person to play successfuly. So it comes down to this: more money to CCP - more power to you and your schizophrenic schemes. And why cant I just pay 100EUR to CCP and get a cool ship or item?

I don't really understand why multiple accounts is a problem. But I do agree that alts are a pain, especially here on the forums.

Fact of life:
The list of things that are easier to do as a group is much larger than the list of things that are easier to do as an individual.
Just an FYI.

When I was playing Ultima Online, my second account was half the subscription price of the first.
If EVE had some discount on multiple accounts, more people would buy other accounts and the inbalances (and yes there are inbalances) would have less meaning.
If EVE didn't have the longest leveling/training times in the gaming industry, the problem would not exist though.

well multiple accounts is not a flaw nor a problem.
it gives richer players an advantage as they can afford more accounts, so it gives rich players an advantage. just like buying game cards for money and sell for isk gives rich people an advantage, tho people think that the last thing is unfair but in a way having multiple accounts is also unfair, but its not a problem.

Nothing wrong with multiple accounts. That said, what's the difference between and "alt" and a "second account"? Someone above seemed to dislike the former and have no problem with the latter? -- Lil Miner |

You got the problem but not the reason. Second accounts are the biggest problem because the remove consequence. Sec hits don't matter when you have a second account to enter empire, and you can't truly get revenge on that guy who blew you up because his industrial account - the one he makes money with - is hidden from you.
'Linking' accounts with the same credit card together would be ideal, if a little unfair on a select few who're different individuals but use the same card. ___

Would limiting everyone to one account make the game more fun? Yes, because all of a sudden people become more dependable on each other. Lab rats would be played characters, not alts. Pirates would be truely condemned by their sec status, right now most of them have production alts, as do most PvP'ers.
The whole game would be a lot more about teamwork and logistics than it is now. But is asking this question realistic? No, its a daydream - its not going to happen.

1. Did anyone play ol school RPGs with paper, pencil and dices? Did it ever occur in these games that one person leads more than one fictional character? No. 2. Did anyone play Monopoly or Risk? Same point. 3. Does anyone of you have multiple characters in RL? Go to a psychiatrist.
I think Im going to leave this thread and go watch Matrix 2...

No, no, no. The biggest flaw in the game is actually racially based!
Caldari: FTL travel, superior missiles and they still can't find a solution for male pattern baldness.
Amarrian: Energy beams and superior armor and yet, they still can't come up with a space saver heater. Instead, they insist on all those robes!
Minmatar: The underdogs of the game. The liberated cool guys yet they are still using wire frames for their glasses? Come on, man! Use suspension fields or body magnets to hold them in place!
Gallente: What's with the hair! I've seen barbie dolls owned by 5 year olds with better hair! And the blue thing that goes over the face? What's that for, are we in a spitting war with someone?
Other than that, the game is perfect! Me and my three accounts are just happy as things are. You don't like it, go pod a macrominer--those filthy buggers!

Edited by: Airdorn on 18/01/2006 16:16:29 Hmm, I have a "main" character that's in a PVP corp and is pretty wealthy.
Then I have THIS character I am posting with now that I use for high sec errands, trading, posting on the forums, etc.
I pay $14.95 for each of these 2 accounts -- so that I can conceivably run both at the same time, using 2 different computers.
Does that qualify either of those accounts as alts? I have been accused of being an alt before because I keep this character in a noob corp -- but I don't think it is.
SO anyway.. imagine if someone had a thousand accounts, each one (s)he pays $14.95/month for. That's a lot of income to CCP, so how would that be a problem exactly? Its still just 1 person working all those computers. :)

Linking is easy to get around - just put your second account on somebody else's credit card. (like your grandmother or something...)

I sometimes post with this alt because the forum software chooses it on some of the machine I post with. I've tried setting the default option but on those machines (two of three I have at home) it keeps doing it.
