Hmmm... think the better phrase for this is, they who laugh last, think the slowest?

Perhaps because...you know, people have different tastes when it comes to homour? Just a wild guess. I read the joke, got it but didn't think it was funny at all. Then again I like virtually none of the other warp drive active jokes either. If she (the OP) thinks it's fun to do these jokes she should go on and do more. As someone said earlier in the thread, practice makes perfect. Though it's impossible to make a joke that everyone think is fun.
Getting defensive and trying to imply that forum people are *****y or thick since they didn't "get" the joke, while her online buddies did like it, is weak though. If someone publishes their work on a big forum like this they can hardly expect only creamy and peachy replies. Getting defensive never helped anyone getting better at their craft, ever.
There's a difference between not getting it and not thinking its funny.
IMO, it wasn't very funny at all. But I still "got" it. -- Proud member of the [23].

I got it. It wasn't funny. And neither are a lot of WDA comics. Sorry but that's how I feel.

Well it's your first try at making WDA style. Don't worry about that, I don't get some of WDA comic jokes neither. You just need to find something that appeal most of the crowd. --------- Please reduce your signature radius to be below 24.000 bytes - Jacques' Right, after I train my inty to lvl 5

I didn't get it at all. It took me reading these 3 pages to realise that there was a joke so I went back to look at it. The reasons being:
You had a character in a ship that was talking in the first 2 frames, then had no real reference to her/him in the last one. The speech bubbles were erratic in the 3rd frame. I read the stargate chatter as your main character's chatter, and i read the other bubble as Aura's chatter. As stupid as that sounds now (I only realised til I read back) it's because alot of people skim over a comic strip expecting to be spoon fed. Of course some don't, but many do, and the last frame really wasn't for skim readers - you had to look at where the bubbles were pointing, and take in the different names you were dropping from frame to frame.
I like your art though, and the joke will be good once the execution is sorted :)
I hope this was constructive for you.

But I think you would have much better luck if you didnt try to mimic the dry humor of WDA, and did your own thing.
Sorry, WDA-Fans.... flame on. --------

I must admit i like WDA...but the strip in question was just not that funny, i liked the art...but the wit was not dry, nor that funny. but humor is very subjetive...keep trying and find yor own style... ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

I liked it. Dont let any one get you down as they say "You can please some of the people some of the time, but never all the people" or something along that lines. Keep it up!

You shouldn't try to beat Winterblink at his own game.
Next time, make sure that your comic is more original, and not emulating his style.
Nice attempt, but don't expect a lot of applause for what is basically a rip-off. ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |
