I haven't been laughing too much lately while playing EVE, and that comes to great, great concern to me. I love this game and this place, and that's why I strive to make it better for everyone.
So, I took a shot at a Warp Drive Active comic. Being a source of great joy, I decided to make my own (my ship, the Bitter Burner is featured in the first and third sketches!!)
Anyway, Winterblink and I had a brief chat about it and all that was said is "let's see if it gets a good response before we release it."
Give it a good response people, and I hope you enjoy my very first EVE comic!

By "Warp Drive Active", I think you mean "Warp Drive Active style".
And I didn't like it. I read it. I read it again. I didn't get a laugh. *shrug*.

Well, not too bad, but think you need to focus those text balloons more from whom they are. maybe another style of textballoons and font too :)
I give it a 6.5 out of 10. Its nice for a first time comic. making comics is like an eve char: you start with almost skillpoints but it will improve overtime, just don't give up :)

OK - funny I didn't get it at first - I see they *didn't* jump. As I understood it, the lag was soo horrible in the adjacent system, that it took forever for the new system to refresh - anyway - keep working on it, mate.

Tricky, ain't it? It's tough to do a joke that's got universal appeal. My suggestion was to show it to a couple people, like people you know - not EVERYONE. :)

well he now knows it a comic eat comic world now, plus with abt of help from someone and the lag part. which was missed in the comic i do get it now, but still not funny |

By the time I figured out why it was supposed to be funny, it was too late. You have the basis for a decent gag, but need better execution. It no doubt kicks in better for those who have had the exact same experience as depicted but, as Winterblink indicated, making it universally appealing ain't as easy as it looks.
BTW I've had the experience of making packed auditoriums fill with laughter...and I've also bombed. A lot.
Don't defend the joke. If you have to defend it, it isn't working. Make it better. Comedy is hard.

If this joke has something to do with a jumpgate glitch, I have never experienced it, so I don't get it. Maybe this is why a lot of people are saying they don't get it or it's not funny. It probably would be funny if something like this happened to me at all.

I am finding this to have been a mistake. Should have just run it by WB. A joke isn't always gotten by EVERYONE.
Heh. These are the forums that almost all hated the font, while lots of people liked it. Opinions. This was a mistake. I won't publish this kind of stuff for the public again. Also, just to let everyone know this is by NO MEANS the finished version, just a really rough idea. I have some other ideas on how to reword things too.
