I would love to be able to que skills greater than those that start within 24 hours.
Why couldn't we have a week or month long queue?
Why can't we develop the API so we can update training from remote devices?
Not exactly something that could upset game balance....... |

You missed the *play the game* part. If SP were based on activities, players would hate it with EVE's model (you'd get more SP from grinding rats in highsec then from providing content in nullsec, also how do you account for research/production/trading/logistics/etc/etc/etc), but if it were based on how much you were logged in it would give an unfair advantage to people who can just load EVE in the background while they're at work.
As it is, the 24 hour skillqueue gives an advantage to active players, without disadvantaging players who can only log in a few times a week.
I guess my bittervet is setting in, but I remember the days before a skill queue. All those short skills in the beginning? Sure hope you were able to be logged on for a few hours or didn't mind wasting training time. Proud owner of an Ibis. |

I'm not a bitter vet .... yet.
But I have played off and on since beta. I tend to travel a lot for my job. I have a two week trip coming up and that is what got me thinking about this ability-service. I hate holding off on long-train skills simply so I can keep the SP progressing when I go on extended trips. It interrupts skill planning.
It's a matter of convenience and support for people who do not live in Eve.
And yes, I only get to play about 4-6 hours a week. I'd rather focus on game play, when I do play, than manipulating my skill que for when I'm traveling for work. |

You get more time to play than I do for same reasons and I do fully agree with the idea of being able to set a larger skill Que.

So we should also be happy someone actually learned how to use fire or we would still live without it?

So we should also be happy someone actually learned how to use fire or we would still live without it? Aw, this is awesome. Some changes, like fire, are inevitable. It is not that only one person could come up with an idea, or improvement. It is the simple reality that this idea or improvement was coming, and the first person to notice will occasionally get recognition.
Fire, was inevitable. We can only guess at the details, but a good number of inventions were accidents, suggesting that they were stumbled across similar to the million monkeys on typewriters eventually producing Shakespeare. Accidental discoveries are simply reality forcing things into existence, which were due and had all the supporting elements in place. No divine intervention or anything, simply the result manifesting in a way that had not been considered.
As to being happy with the queue at all, CCP put it in to keep more players happy. If they could have gone back in time to include it from the start, they probably would have done this too.
The delusion that some player will stumble into actually playing, is a joke. If someone plans so little about how they spend their time, it is reasonable to expect their in game behavior is equally random.
They will log out just as easily as they logged in, completing the simple wisdom: "Easy come, easy go". Suggesting this is why CCP set it up this way, is quite probably rationalizing mixed with guesswork. Upgrading Local to Eliminate All AFK Influence So Local Chat vanished, now what? |

I've only got 4 hours right now ... but then a 20d skill's going in soon as I can log in. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

this bascially.....to wrap up my perc/will I will in 2 days throw in tactical weapins config to run t2 siege when done. Has me at almost a month of training.
All you have ot do is log in when the skill list is less than 24 hours once in a while. Got time to check e-mail, facebook, youtube and watch certain videos before bed you can find the time to log in and put a skill in. I am in other games more (damn steam and their good sales thye have from time to time....they eat at my wallet $10 at a time lol) atm and find time for this. Between evemon or my neocom on iphone and ipad I know when I have to log in. Neocom if an apple device user is nice enough to put up a notification once the less than 24 hours.
If life so busy this is a hardship...its time to consider a new game. Not even being cruel in saying this. My philosophy of game life in playing pay per month games is if not feeling like I am getting my $15 a month worth of use, I leave it. |

lol can't stop laughing at this comment, considering I just logged on to insert a 20 day skill and logged off in 2 mins.
OPs right, lengthening queue to something like 2 days or even a week would have no impact on people who have been playing the game for awhile. Older players usually have the skills training at a month or more.
It only really affects newer players (or new accounts by older ones lol), and if eve is to grow it needs an influx of new people. |

There's nothing wrong with having 2 days or 3 or even 7 to be able to queue up instead of the current 1 day. If ccp had made it a 7 day when they implemented it would yall have gotten on the forums and complained it's too long then? somehow i think not. Now if ccp decid to not increase it that's fine by me as well, but don't naysay just to be naysaying <Munnkeh> i'm gonna use that excuse if i ever kill someone. Not a matter of naysaying or whatever the heck, it's just that for some of us that can't log in like the white-nerd-eat chocapics-drin-cola-never-see-the-sun who can't obviously understand some people live or have different life.
I'd be happy being able to set a longer skill que just because like many around sometimes your job doesn't aloud you or gives you the time/opportunity/ability to connect to the Internet, log Eve online and set your skills que. I don't know how many days of empty skill que my characters have just because I couldn't do anything about it.
We have soldiers, diplomats, business people yadaya playing this game that can't always do this simple thing you call set skill que and "planning" (this planning word makes me laugh) , not saying they deserve any sort of special treatment but I think the training system in Eve wouldn't suffer in any form or term if something could be done for these dudes dudettes to help them out with this tiny issue.
Not the most important issue, but would actually be really nice. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

Instead of increasing queue's capacity they could just implement one simple thing: last skill in queue continues training of next level until finishing level 5 or player will log in and change it manually. I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

I'm happy with the way it is now. there is no need to extend it.
As for the 2 week trip.... I also travel for work and often at short notice, but I manage. Occasionally my queue may end a couple of days before I get back and you know what, the world does not end, you don't log on and find that your internet spaceship is broken, you can still play the game.
Seriously, once or twice a year you miss a couple of days skilling, its not a big deal.
No need to make changes to the most balanced part of Eve.

Heck, a sequenced default auto-continue for training would be an improvement.
Any skill you have available will be auto selected and trained once the previously selected skills have completed.
It really is a no brainer, since training ANYTHING is better than training NOTHING. (And for long training stretches, the return on a high length skill too often is only minimal, that skill being slotted ONLY because it would have the pilot training nearly garbage rather than being idle.)
So keep the 24 hour window for changing skills, but add in an auto select so the queue never goes idle if an injected or known skill can be trained further. Upgrading Local to Eliminate All AFK Influence So Local Chat vanished, now what? |

I'd say it is more reasonable to have a two day skill cue instead of a 1 week skill cue. This will allow you to train more and be able to move ahead in the game faster. My adventure blog: http://lonewolfadventures.wordpress.com/ |

It wasn't suppose to be perfect and I'm not even sure what "perfect" could mean in this context. Ok, perfect would be possibility to manage your queue with out of game tools but that probably won't happen for a long time.
Also if you increase queue to 7 days people will cry "why only 7 days, I have to go to hospital for 10 days. Make it longer!". You make it two weeks, people will have vacations/military deployment/whatever longer than that and crying for longer will continue.
Of course if Eve is on your mind when RL puts you in life threatening situations (mentioned hospital/military deployments) problem lies not really in skill queue length :) But on daily basis I think my idea would be more or less balanced between flexibility and not opening can of worms. +1
This is a good idea for the following reasons.
1) Reduce server load (allows part time players time to log in less with each character they are skilling) 2) Actually adds value to a players experience, let's them have MORE of a REAL LIFE outside of EVE. 3) Promotes players adding more characters (more money for CCP) to train due to less hassle.
It no way reduces value to any other aspect of the game, since the argument that CCP wants you to Play the game is void since any player who just logs into add to the skill tree is very unlikely to play PVP or PVE content while doing so.
Logging on more for skilling characters that aren't being played actively just loads the server.
The only reason that the skill cue is as it is, is CCP wants the business to LOOK busier than it is... that's all my little brain can think of why it is what it is.... with a slight chance they are afraid you will forget about the game and move on if you're not addicted to skilling toons. |

Wrong.. CCP want your subscriptions. They don't make money if you log in. If you paid subs for a year and logged in once a week they would love you just as much as those who log in every day and paid the years subs. The thick plottens... CCP, When can my crane get its black paint job back?? |

HAhahahaha "CCP wants to steal money from players who don't log in much" OMG, really???? Its not CCP's fault if you pay for a service then don't use it.
Kara Trix wrote: PS.. I go on and off of EVE, but my subscription continues, since I plex it ahead of time. I have many times not played this game for 6 months at a time and all the while my toon wasn't being skilled, yet I was paying for the Sub..... why is that fair. Skill cue times should reflect no limit at all for players who don't want to play the game now, but would like to still skill characters for the future.... they should be a year at least.
Seriously, if you pay then don't play, its not CCPs fault.
Kara Trix wrote: For the comments that say "Play the Game" that is just over the top..... really! Get a life outside of this game. Many players have played 10 years now.... you mean they are REQUIRED to log in that whole time to keep value in their subscription.... Wow... i am floored.
Its not hard to maintain a skill queue, and it certainly doesn't have to be an interruption to real life. Sheesh, drop a level 5 in and come back 2-4 weeks later!!!!!
AND OMFG... its QUEUE.... This is a cue
