I have a few questions regarding the Jove systems that show up on our maps. I am told that this area was open early on in the game but it is now closed. Why? When will it be opening up again for normal traffic? I have read bits and pieces on the Jovian race but nothing regarding the access to the region. Is there a place I can go to get more information regarding the race, ships and technology they have?
Any help would be great.

The Jove are the fifth race to colonize the eve galaxy. They deemed the other four races as inferior. And cut themselves off from them. In there self induced exile they discovered pod technology as well as a way to reproduce asexually.
Amarr attempted to conquer Jove space but were decimated by the Jove mothership.
Since then, and the caldari aquistion of pod tech, little has been heard of them.

So far as being accessible goes ... it was never *supposed* to be open. There were a couple of bugs related to corp memership and pod-killing that enabled you to arrive there .. if anyone spotted you out there, you were in big heap trouble. ________________________________________________

It was supposed to open up in an upcoming expansion, but I really don't know how they could feasibly do it.
They would have to dedicate some massive processor power to that corner of the map, because that would be one seriously fought over region.

I thought there wasn't anything out there? If you got stuck out there you basically didn't have any way of getting back without GM assistance.
Anyway, Jove ships have been seen flying around, and have earned legendary status for durability and firepower. Probably exaggerated though, their baseline ships aren't much better then what the Empires have, and are inferior to T2 ships. Most likely the reputation was earned by GM cheating.
They probably aren't ever going to open the regions up I think. There's alot of space out there and people just don't want to go out there.

If they added Jovian NPC tables, a ton of folks would flock out there, just because it's new.
Outposts would go up, POS wars would commence, Capital Ships would clash while hundreds of Battleships slugged it out. Oh, and a certain corp would log on and off together about 6 billion times.

Dossen't make anny sense what so ever to have jove space beeing lowsec as they tend to dislike military power within their borders... ;D

I suspect that if and when it is opened, the part which is actually Jove Empire will all be high sec. That still leaves a lot of uncharted 0.0 regions, which won't even have to be opened all at the same time. There's room for plenty of expansion yet. ________________________________________________

Thanks for all the feed back...
I hope the folks at CCP will consider opening it up to select people doing missions or something. I think they need to introduce it to the EVE world sometime or just delete it from the map all together.
I want to go where no man has gone before... Well atleast for a long time anyway.

hmm I think they'll open it up once we hit like 500k subscribers. Untill then, don't count on it being anything more then a gimmick, something to make explorers' mouth water.

I was lucky enough to go out there during the inauguration of Doriam Kor-Azor ... everyone invited was transported to a system in that region - rather like a cathedral in space. That was some event.

Don't forget that system security status is a CONCORD measure, and the Jove don't participate in CONCORD. So their space all shows as 0.0.
Also, the Jove ships that have come to our space have been tough to beat not because of any cheating but because of superior technology. They're small, they're fast, and they're very resistant to damage.

So does anyone have any official news from CCP regarding the intentions of Jove Space? Seems to be quite a bit of wasted space if it is not going to be used.

I'd say it'd be safe to assume they will be putting it in. Reasons for not putting it on could come down to not having enough hardware to run the new regions, or something as simple as it simply not being coded yet.
If you have a look, you'll see that the Jove Empire has it's own corporations with agents and such, so I think it'll be open in future (Whatever patch comes after Kali I suppose)

Jove directorate isn't in complete exile, they do have an active on going relationship with the caldari as noted by the fact the jove have allowed the caldari to setup a research outpost within jove space.
Jove ships aren't on spec aren't all that powerful, they just tend to have large cargo hold's/drone bays and faster base speeds, the Jove Lvl 5 indy has 10'000 m3 base cargo capacity though these are probably all because they haven't got nerfed over time, i have a link here for an ingame browser page that displays all the info boxes on jove and gm ships.

The opening of Jovian space and characters as a playable race are slated as a post-Kali expansion. As of this moment, I do not have a time frame for the release of this expansion. There is a lot of work that needs to be done, including balancing of Jovian player characters, the creation of more Jovian ships, modules, weapons and storylines/fiction, the population of Jovian space, and testing, testing, testing.
Right now, the Jovian ships that exist in the Eve database are placeholders. They have been around in this form since the day Eve went live. At that time, they were the best ships in the universe but with the addition of new ships, new ship classes, and tech level 2, it is apparent that they have a lot of massaging that needs to be done. Currently there are no Jovian items in the database that I'm aware of.

The Interstellar Services Department are a division of CONCORD and the Polaris-class frigates are a special CONCORD-only design.

If you can believe the post-cards that came with E-ON, those things cost as much as a titan to make... CONCORD must be damn rich then. Maybe they can spare a bit?

So once Jove hits in you will be able to choose and make a Jovian character? I heard sometime that you could maby clone your main into a jove or something like that? Or will it only be new chars created that can be Jove?

I'm assuming it will probably be something only for the high-end players to jump into.
Like say people with 35 million skillpoints could undergo a process to become jove and gain like + 25 to every attribute.
