Some games, *cough*WoW*cough* have ONLY automated responses for EVERYTHING.. including GM support. Just adding some perspective, thats all. _______________________________________________

The customer support is fine, if you want instant support go play one of those lesser sharded games like WoW or GW, they dont have to deal with 23,000 players all on the sam shard so imho just wait and stop whining about the already overworked support staff.

Were you just not aware that this is a small company, not a service and support center found in India? I'd much rather have to wait a few days for the GM's and small support team to get back to me versus quickly getting assistance from someone who is trying to convience me that the best way to fix my stuck character is to continually reboot my computer and then have to be put on hold while listening to Frank Sinatra on hold because of a reimbursement request.
Want support to move faster? Don't petition anything stupid or take a stand and donate a few million dollars to improve their support staff. --------------

That's like asking people not to go to the emergency room for non-emergency medical care.

Actually, I'm talking through an information medium called the Internet. Packets of information are being transfered through a combined layer called TCP/IP. Talking out of my arse is, as far as I know, impossible due to the lack of additional interfacing extenders. You would only have two keys if you typed with your buttcheeks, resulting in a lot of additional confusion and the ability to hit the "Post Reply" button.
My problem, to respond to the origonal point, is that this is a whine, not a resolution. Complaining about support is not going to speed things up nor is whining going to suddenly bring to their attention that the support team is overwhealmed. I'm sure they are fully aware. Your post, and the parent's post, does nothing.

Edited by: Valan on 31/01/2006 18:50:31 Here is a constructive response.
I've raised two petitions recently. One for being stuck, answered in less than 1 hour. Another for an exploit which was my mistake but that was almost a real time convo. A friend has his account hacked and had hisISK back within one hour.
Petitions are prioritised on a game basis not on how much it hacks you off. If its a ship replacement be patient, chances are you won't get it back.

Happens quite often in larger cities, especially during crisis situations. All non-emergency situations will be refused in the emergency room because all avaliable staff/rooms are full. Priority to appliants for their situation, just like EVE petition priorities.
There would be no confusion. Just have a 1 and a 0 for keys, just hope you know binary =) Phe0nix ----------------

Isn't that an oxymoron?
Emergency being urgent and all that.. and you come for a hip replacement or something which has been scheduled for the past 2 years (if you live in the UK.) Surely you wouldn't go in for emergency treatment? :/
I'm confused now.

Actually TCP and IP are seperate protocols... not layers. The layers used would be Transport and Network. But your neglecting the other 5 layers there.. that you will have to traverse to communicate. :) ----- Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

You are 100% correct I didn't want to explain it as in depth as OSI, so I dumbed it down for purposes of humor. No worries there, I'm a sysadmin so talking about sending packets through unchecked UDP would have made the joke less funny to most everyone else here. --------------

well i got stuck petitioned and was moved 10min later, unfortunatly back the way i came. so added a message and got moved about 15min later the right way past the sticky system.
how ever the OTHER's section of petitions is way to crappy. and needs some alterations as sometimes it takes 4-5 days to solve problems there and it sucks.

this must be the funniest post ive read in ages. People getting mad, sarcasm, technical terms i dont understand, humour, tears, anger. All in the life of an eve player. It cant get better than this. Oh by the way Ive had 2 queries since starting eve 10 days ago both answered faster than any other game support ive had to deal with before. and honest answers from them as well.

Funny thread. Seriously people who moan about eve's customer support want shooting. CCP have one of the best customer support systems I have seen. So what you have to wait a week tops. FFS get a life at least your problem will get dealt with. In WoW, EQ2 I had problems It took a month to get a answer back. Stop whining....

It's been 10 days and counting for me since I lost my scorp, pod and 3 implants to lag, and despite having had an angry spike of frustration after 5 days, I came to realize that maybe, just maybe, they are indeed stuck up to their necks in petitions of all kinds and are sorting them through by importance/impact on gameplay? Quit whining, they're still doing a good job. ____________________

THat's basically an automated message to tell you your petition actually reached them.
Think of it like being placed on hold for tech support and a voice popping in and asking you to stay on the line every now and again.
They get back to you when they can. Think of all the petitions they have to sort through from carebears petitioning pirate-related losses and blaming lag.
WoW has automated responses for everything, including GM support.
And here's the creepy bit: EQ2 now uses instant messenger bots to handle its "live" tech support. Try to convert one to any given religion and you'll notice, otherwise they are complex enough that you might not even see the difference from what used to be their live support.
So EVE support 4tw :) ------------------------------------ Join Channel MacroIntel! |

After dealing with customer support with SBC PacBell/Yahoo and many other companies... it's apparent the higher ups were dazzeled and fooled with ink figurines on paper claiming that those who live in India are able to speak English.
They can not speak English. They do not understand anything past text book phrases, and they aren't all that bright for what they manage to translate. Their pronunciation is so completely off, it far exceeds the desirable tolerance granted to "accent". Their culture does not lend to idioms. They are on the other side of the earth, though close to Australia, yet, so far away mentally and physically. Becuase they are 2000 miles away, it's ludicrous to think they can actually "help" for local problems and they never are fruitful in assistance, in part, becuase they aren't able to speak English to any respectful degree. They use word combinations, though they might be English words, that NO native English speaker of any English speaking nation ever combines making it even more frustrating and confusing to talk to them. The few in India that might muster a tolerable discussion never actually pick up the phone, the ones the customers get are first year high-school English students. Or, maybe the ones that learned a bunch of words from American and British movies. Then, to top it off, some even try to mix match common British lingo with American... each word might be recognizable but the string of crap they present doesn't form a comprehensable sentence.
The last thing I as a customer should be required to do when I call up, is go through the mental strains and frustration of translating what the other person is trying to babble. I'd rather wait a day, to be contacted back, by a native English speaker, knowing that I'll speaking freely and comfortably and have some degree of cultural similarities with the person trying to help me. The implication that a someone of my cultural lineage holding a paying job is icing on the cake.
Please... please do not outsource customer support for your English speakers. I'd rather you raise the price for subscription so you can hire some Americans, some British or some Aussies to man the phones to help those of us who call. Please!
I think your customer support is fine; you've addressed every problem I annoyed your support personal with. You have a lot of customers, and it's rather expensive to higher enough people to man the phones just becuase a lot of us think we have a problem only you can solve; "Yeah, another idiot. His keyboard wasn't attached to his computer...".
Please... outsourcing support for the customer and forcing him to consult with the lingual equivalent of a 10 year old moron with a speech impediment is very insulting and degrading. I personally want someone I can relate with, and this is 95% of "assistance" becuase many people realize that So-And-So Company can't help either, even before they call but they call becuase it's "trying as much things as you can to fix the problem".

Hey man don't worry. If it's been 5 days you only have 2 more days to go until you get an e-mail saying they did not look at your petition and hope it worked itself out. Also you'll get an e-mail a couple days later asking you to rate your customer service statisfaction. Or atleast that is what I have gotten whenever I've had to petition.

Agree, this level of support is not what u expect from such a great game. Meaning that support has no priority within CCP. Lack of adequate support is what u normaly see. Selling stuff and the horny 'es for more customers is more important then support. Eventualy good en swift support will determine the success of a product en the ammount of customers.
