We need a Diablo 3 style auction house to make RMT easier, the current system with the threads and raffles and GTCs is silly complicated. |

I love all these butthurt people because Somer got a ship that has no use ingame and is just a recolored scorp hull. Then claiming everything is RMT because they want some special treatment aswell.
hint: do something special then. Ranting on the forums doesn't count as special.

Do you REALLY think that's what the issue is?
Somer being given ships certainly made more people look at them and assess their practices, but that's all.
The problem people have is that Somer have been RMTing. Until recently this went under the radar, with few people taking note. Now it's been noticed and called upon, and CCP refuse to comment on it and refuse to withdraw their support for Somer.
This means CCP are officially supporting a group that RMTs.
That's what people have a problem with.

Yes, we know. He got blocked on a technicality though as he was not raffling the character, he was raffling a chance to bid on it. The bid process would have been the same though restricted to only winners of the raffle.
The point is an individual gets jumped on for doing what Somer is doing. It's double standards. CCP are backing Somer who are doing the same thing as a lot of the examples being posted on this forum, yet Somer is not getting closed for it.
CCP either need to say RMT is a go, or RMT is banned. The longer they sit on the fence, the more there is going to be uproar from the community.

Or they integrate the auction house, then everybody would be happy. |

If you actually look at what DNS and Somer are doing you'll find it is completely different
DNS
Sell 2 people GTCs for random amounts of money (not allowed as not authorised GTC reseller)
assign an arbitrary number of credits to one person to give them a near infinite chance of winning
raffle off a character and give it to the winner (also not allowed)
DNS credits for the lottery must be purchased with $$
Somer
Advertise Marquee Dragons GTC (Authorised EVE GTC reseller) for a commision
give a set and relatively small amount of Blink Credits to people who present a receipt reference number
have a lottery for eve items and give them to the winner (allowed)
blink credits for the lottery can be purchased with ISK |

Honestly I thought this was something that belongs in the "one-line bad idea" thread. Seriously Blizzard ditched the RMT auction house because it was a bad idea. There are a whole lot of people who will start doing something once it becomes sanctioned. It's no so much keeping RMT out of EVE, because it will always happen, but keep RMT low by making it a bannable offense. |

You say a "relatively small amount", how much is classed as relatively small. They giver 200m/GTC. I could make a lottery site in about 20 minutes, if that. So if I set myself up as an affiliate, and gave out say 250m in "lottery credits", for which you could gamble with others or guarantee a win of a number less than the number of "credits" alone, would that be allowed?
What about 500m?
What about 1b?
At what point do you draw the line on "a small amount" and it becomes RMT?
For me, that line is drawn at 0. You should not be able to hand out isk, no matter the amount, to earn real cash. If there's an allowed amount, then anyone can use their large volumes of isk to make cash. Don't get me wrong, if CCP want to let us all make cash, I'll happily grab isboxer, set myself up a site and start cracking out a salary subsidy.
CCP are not willing to draw a line and are not willing to clarify whether this is globally allowed or a Somer only thing. That's our problem. CCP should by now have come along, seen this is ludicrous and told Somer to pack it in. But they haven't. So until they do, expect these threads pretty much hourly.
