As was said before, charging at cruisers in a T1 frig is a mite risky, but I find the setup itself is quite nice. So even though I'm not gonna keep my bleeder I'm not gonna try and make sure no one else flys one.
And I've yet to hear any alternative cruiser killers from all the people getting riled up over this setup. Feel free to chime in with a better T1 frig for the job at anytime...

And about the 2.2% difference in damage - Meh. Thats not enough to justify the larger requirements and worse tracking IMO.
But that is of course just my opinion, flame away like you always do
It's only a assumption of the damage not a fact of what the damage is. Resistance wise 200mm might be more than the 150mm. It might be equal... You might get higher DPS with 200mm other times you might not. But it's safe to say going 150mm's is not gimping yourself from not going 200mm. Even though you didn't say that but it's good to throw it out there instead of thinking it's a set "2.2%" better when it's not in every combat event.
150's are a good choice to always stick with anyhow. It saves a little more pg/cpu and that's what really counts. Why it's the best gun in the game by far.

Or were you one of those kids that kept trying to fit the square peg in the round hole?
Actually mining lasers could be a very good thing to equip on your ship if you're pirating. Just make sure you're in a missle/drone ship and "hey guys, mind if i mine with you?" then there you go.... you can get as close as you want and everything..
Not that i would do that tho :/ i hate deception.

Dammit I was enjoying reading Malkas posts about the Puni. I like their setup very much, and pretty much do everything stated on the tin. I'll be gutted if Malka has perm left the game, can anyone say wether they will be back?

How about this ? Bleeder Punisher Deluxe
H 3 x 200mm Autocannons II 1 x Small Nosferatu II
M ! x 1Mn Afterburner II 1 x Warp scrambler 7.5 km
L 1 x Small Armor Repairer II 2 x Capacitor Power Relays 1 x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
The Small Armor Repairer II repairs much better than the standard one. The Membrane makes you take less damage. The Afterburner II makes you fly faster, thus harder to hit. The T2 cannons give you more damage and the T2 Nosferatu gives you even 2 more cap per cycle than the Nosfer T1.

Wow..you can actually use the tech 2 version of Malka's setup. I've never thought of that before
edit: and i'd like to see you fit a t2 small NOS

I thought one of the original setup's point was it's cheapness ... T2 kinda defeats that.

Heh, T2 does almost nothing for this setup. Sure you can break a tank a bit easier... But anything that could kill the cheap version can still kill the T2 version.

Well then, end of discussion. Use the above setup with a vengeance instead, fit a missile launcher instead of the nosfer and adapt the rest to your needs then.

The main point in any of Malka's ship setups posts is to make people think, to apply concepts in the setup to other things, and you are always free to upgrade and improve the equipment, but fitting it out with basic T1 stuff ensures that better things will still fit
And this wouldnt work as well on a Vengence OR on a Retri, the Vengence because you would be minus one low slot for the cap recharger probably (making swithcing to a missle launcher even worse than keeping the nos) and the Retri because you cant scramble and keep high transversal.

the vengeance have a 5%/level AS cap recharge bonus... so it is like having one in there at level 4. Also - with the great assault resist on there you are one tough cookie.
t2 ship defeat the purpous of cheap though (vengeance is very cheap as t2 ship go though)... but it will definately get you out of more tough situations. __ Weirda Assault Ship deserve a 4th Bonus and More!

I was thinking more along the same line as Weirda with the vengeance having another Cap Power Relay integrated in the ship with l4 assault ships trained, and you might wanna have maybe a setup like this instead on the vengeance,
H 3 x 200mm Autocannons II 1 x Small Nosferatu II / Missile Launcher
M 1 x 1Mn Afterburner II 1 x Warp scrambler 7.5 km 1 x Fixed Parallell Link Capacitor / Webber
L 1 x Small Armor Repairer II 2 x Capacitor Power Relays
or L 2 x Small Armor Repairer II 1 x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II / Thermic Hardener

I was wondering whether a similar setup could work with blasters instead of autocannons? I'm asking because my projectile skills aren't anywhere near as good as my hybrid skills. Would it be effective simply to switch the autocannons for blasters and keep the rest the same? And what type of blasters would be best?

Regarding Vengeance (or even Punisher at a pinch) this is what I am toying with ATM. First Punisher... High 3x150MM TII 1xSmall Knave NOS Mid 1xFleeting Warp 7.5 km 1xMicrowarp TII Low 400mm Rolled Tungsten 1xMAPC 1xCPR 1xSAR II For the Vengeance it is similar High 3x150/200mm TII ACs 1xKnave small NOS Mid 1xFleeting Scram 20k 1xFleeting Web 1xMicrowarp II Low 400mm Rolled Tungsten 1xMAPC 1xSAR II
This all pretty much requires things all LvL5,and both benefit from basic cheap agility and speed implants. With over 1200 ARM HP and a fast attack speed this setup is alot of fun to try, still experimenting with it,but like I said its fun to try.

for fighting against other frigs autocannons are greit, i take out punishers easily, dont even have to tank since i simply go under their range.
for cruisers, i would take an other setup (i havent tried it out yet, i also dont have all the skills to effectively fit ships)
since many cruisers use web, drones, heavy missiles or nos, i would stay at long range of about 15-16km
highs: use 2 or 3 artillery or 2 or 1 missile launcher, missile launcher should work well against drones i think
mids: an ab to keep ur speed up, and 2x 20km scrams unless ur cap cant hold put a cap recharger.
in the lows an armor repper and 2 overdrive injectors to boost ur speed, with good skills i think u go about 900ms
or use a shield booster instead of the cap recharger or 20k scram and put another overdrive injector in the lows
i havent tried this out yet dince i dont have all the skills to decently outfit a ship, would be nice if someone tried the fitting for me ________________________________________ YARRR!!! Death to all carebears! |

Just thought of a similar one myself as well, works nicely;
2 X 200MM autocannon II 1 X small nos 1 X 1MN Afterburner 1 X 7.5KM scram 1 X small armor rep II 1 X 200MM plate II 1 X energized adaptive nano 1 X cap relay
And I dont like to brag but I've killed a manticore with this setup :)

I was breaking his tank too... I tend to carry 10k rounds to make sure I can stay out a while... and about 15 minutes into the battle I had to log with him at about half armour since the wife was calling...
Oh well... back to frigs, the occasional mauler, and barges ;)

my gunnery and armor tanking skills suck as I primarily use Caldari ships, but i trained up enough to use this as it seemed like fun. With extremely basic skills i took on a friends ferox. It was a stalemate. He wasn't killing me anytime soon but i couldn't do enough damage to break his tank either. With something other than the minimum skills i can see how it would be possible to take on a ferox and win if you had enough ammo.

wouldnt an energized adaptive membrane to boost res, use less grid and have increased effect than the 200mm plate? You would be removing the agility penalty for a start |

but adding one 200mm plate gives you more then 100% boost in armour points (assuming you dont hay any on the punisher already....
this is effective equivelent to adding +50% to all resists.... id say having ONE 200mm plate is definately alot more effective .... then a more energised adapatives....
the punisher is a slow ship anyway... the agility difference wont be effective enough to make a difference... well definately not enough difference to outweigh the bonuses

Ugh, please don't drag up this awful, awful thread again. I personally don't have a problem with thread necromancy as long as you drag up *good* posts :)
And to answer your question, a Kestrel would annihilate this setup, particularly in a tournament setting (I assume no scramblers, no warping out). Orbit at any range longer than AC range, he'll never catch you, you win.

Aw, come on... the setup is good. Period. I was taking a look at the ship setups thread and found this old jewel. I tried both the first and this last setup and they're both very good, conceptually and practically. Now especially that people start with more skill points, anyone who starts with an Amarr soldier template can start flying this setup in no time. With very little tweaking (swap the scrambler for a web), it's a perfect mission runner too. I have yet to try it for level 2 missions, but I expect it to be more or less on par with the famous passive shield tank Rifter. Those are the best setups a starting player can start flying with low skill points, so I suggest everyone who starts playing the game with an Amarrian character to aim for the first version of the Bleeder, especially because they already start with Small Energy Turret V... eventually, switching to the improved setup only requires to train Small Projectile Turret to a decent level, which can be done in no time. Just fit a web instead of a scrambler on it and you are set. If you want to try some pirating, fit the scrambler.
